Cancer study ordered into mobile phones

Government expert warns of 'hint of a link'
200,000 join research into long-term users

A mass study of the long-term impact of mobile phones is to be undertaken amid fears that people who have used them for more than ten years are at greater risk from brain cancer.

More than 200,000 volunteers, including long-term users, are to be monitored for at least five years to plot mobile phone use against any serious diseases they develop, including cancer and Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases.

Professor Lawrie Challis, who is in the final stages of negotiation with the Department of Health and the mobile phone industry for the £3 million that he needs to fund the study, told The Times that research has shown that mobiles are very safe in the short term but that there is a "hint of something" for people using them longer.

In an interview, Professor Challis, a world expert on mobile phone radiation, and chairman of the government-funded mobile telecommunications health research programme, emphasised that the "hint" was just that. One European study has found a slight association and using a mobile for more than ten years. The few long-term users developed more acoustic neuroma brain tumours which were found close to the ear used for phoning.

But, because of the tiny numbers involved, "it could be by chance," he said. Asked whether the mobile phone could turn out to be the cigarette of the 21st century in terms of the damage it could inflict, he replied: "Absolutely."

He said that the study was necessary because all the important breakthroughs in what caused cancers had shown that the effects often took more than ten years to show. "You find absolutely nothing for ten years and then after that it starts to grow dramatically. It goes up ten times. You look at what happened after the atomic bombs at Nagasaki, Hiroshima. You find again a long delay, nothing for ten years. The same for asbestos."

He made plain that he was not put off because many existing studies had shown no dangers. "The fact that you don't see anything in ten years is also more or less what you would expect if there is something happening," he said.

Announcing the new study, he said: "Because there is a hint and because the professional epidemiologists who I trust and who do this all the time feel there is a chance that this could be real, they can't rule out the possibility. And because we all know that most cancers don't show up for more than ten years, I think you have to carry on. It's essential we carry on.

"Otherwise what are we going to do? If in ten or fifteen years' time people start getting trouble it won't show up until it's a really big effect."

The move was welcomed by the Conservatives. Andrew Lansley, the Shadow Health Secretary, said: "It's not scare-mongering to ask these questions for future generations. At the moment there is little evidence to suggest that use of mobile phones has any impact on health, but it is vital that there is continuing research to establish if long-term use is a danger."

Professor Challis is planning a separate study monitoring the impact of mobile phone use on children. He disagreed with the claim of some scientists that there was no cause to believe mobiles affected them differently from adults.

"We all know that if you're exposed to sunlight as a kid you are much more likely to get skin cancer than if you're exposed as an adult."

He insisted that there was nothing irresponsibly alarmist about his message. Even if a risk were found, people would not have to stop using phones, but perhaps reduce their use."I do it because I think it's worthwhile," he said.

Here is something to think long and hard about.

The next president is going to deprive a criminal network of hundreds of billionaire mass-murderer war-profiteers of hundreds of billions of dollars and these fat cats are not going to like it...these are fat cats who own Congress, fat cats who own the media, fat cats who head international organized crime, fat cats who control the CIA, Mossad, MI6 as their private organizations; fat cats who have, in addition, armies of their own, secret agents of their own, and their own special forces; fat cats who control the monetary system and who are the creditors holding the IOUs of the federal government and are owed the debt of every household, state, country and municipal government in this country; fat cats who are masters of unspeakable power; fat cats used to having their way and being immune to law or any moral authority -- remember these fat cats coldly conducted the Sept. 11, 2001 false-flag attack to get the wars they wanted and the police-state power they wanted.

The next president knows that both he and the men he picks to join his administration will be marked men. Never forget that if multi-billionaire fat cats want someone dead they can, without much pain at all, pay thousands of people a million or two million dollars each, one to kill that person - and the rest to make sure that everyone, including family and friends and police force and journalists, forgets all about it. Many of the world's billionaires kill people for their own sexual gratification, or to settle their own petty scores -- and they think nothing of it, because their wealth makes above law, answerable to no one, and safe from any possible revenge.

Remember to -- and if you didn't know it I'm telling you now -- the global elites control weather using weaponized weather modification to create droughts or heat waves, floods or crop killing frosts for their own economic or geo-political gain. They control biological weapons -- the anthrax attack that shut down Congress after 9/11 was just a sample of what they can do. The are capable of crippling modern economies with information warfare. And they have the ability to put the United States into bankruptcy at any time simply by presenting notes payable on demand.

And the next president will take office with not one tenth of one percent of the population knowing what he will be up against or what extraordinary measures he will have even the remotest chance of fulfilling the hopes and expectations of the people who elected him.

However, the next president, in order to free the American people from the corruption and slavery imposed by these self-appointed masters of the world, will have to speedily use the power to issue executive orders to counter evil even more vigorously and effectively than the puppet presidents have used them to create evil. He must disarm his mortal enemy immediately. (which will be hard, because the mortal enemy will know he is coming.) He will nationalize, he will federalize, he will use the Patriot Act he will kick ass...and he will most certainly be called a dictator and a Hitler.

The next president will shut down the monopoly media for the sake of national security, declaring it an agency of hostile foreign powers and pronouncing it in violation of anti-trust and a conspiracy to monopolize and therefore crush political expression in this country for anti-social purposes. He will break up the media and require local ownership of TV and radio stations in every town. and he will do so amid cries that he is violating free speech -- as if the billionaires haven't been heard enough, as if it isn't the people's turn to be heard for once.

Going far beyond Kennedy or Lincoln this president will federalize the 'Federal' Reserve and erase all of the US debt owed to the federal reserve (a sizable portion of the total US debt). And he will issue new treasury money on which the country does not have to pay interest.

To meet the financial power of the global money power this president will use the power of government to nullify debt owed to criminal persons and financial institutions. He will instruct the justice department -- after replacing most of its personnel -- to bring charges against the perpetrators of the high-finance looting of the people of the united states. Bribery charges and conspiracy charges will be brought against those who were once the most powerful people in the country. The Council on Foreign Relations and the American members of the Trilateral Commission and Bilderberg group will be brought up on charges.

And this president will call on the people of the world to support his effort to destroy world enslavement by international crime.

And there will be a showdown. And this president will discover that the military as an instrument under the control of the president no longer exists -- that it has been so completely sabotaged by previous administrations (Clinton and Bush) that it is no longer reliable -- that planes will crash themselves, that computer systems will fail or target the president's own forces.

The next president will be called a dictator and an anti-Semite.

The next president will re-regulate derivatives and foreign trade -- and will manage to do so even though the Jewish staffers who write the laws that Congress approves and who work for the money power in New York will refuse to craft the legislation.

This president will meet and overcome a resistance and sabotage by the entire bureaucracy. He will fill positions on the recommendations of people he doesn't know and can't trust -- and to find the honest and untainted men he needs he will have to draw from places far from Washington DC, far from the East Coast and far from California and Florida -- and these men will necessarily be green and unsophisticated and will be ridiculed by the ever hostile former-ruling class.

And the billionaires will hire agitators and they will apply economic and political pressure to have this president impeached -- they will call him a dictator -- and the billionaires will sabotage the economy so that people can't get food or fuel or pay their bills -- and the US will not be able to meet its foreign debt obligations and the billionaires will organize the nations of the world to cut off the United States and starve them until the President is overthrown -- this President will know how Chavez feels, how Saddam felt.

One women on one of the progressive lists I post to (until recently) said: "I don't care who the next president is as long as she is a woman and is experienced."

Well, I have news for that woman and for all women and men. The next president is not going to be Hillary Clinton. It is not going to be Omamba Bamba or whatever his name is. It will not be some Libertarian who thinks that because he has read Milton Friedman on perfect competition that he understands the world of government-owning racist slave-seeking anarcho-capitalists. It will not be some programmed Green who thinks that the biggest problem we face is Greenland becoming green again with all that warmth and carbon dioxide. It will not be that timid shadow-populist Ron Paul with absolutely not a dollar behind him and a GOP party 100 percent against him. It won't be phony bait-and-switch anti-war candidate Dennis Kucinich. It will not be the cardboard grinning buffoon of any of the existing third-parties funded and promoted by the plutocracy to divide the people's vote. It will not be some so-called progressive whose every idea was put their by the Zionist Jew Trotsky who preached 'from each according to his ability' but was in reality a hoodwinking Jewish-supremacist Zionist seeking to enslave the world to his delusional kind.

The next president is going to be a man greater than George Washington or Jefferson or Lincoln -- greater because of what he will undertake, because of who and what he will fight and defeat, and because of all the good in the world he will make possible.

That is he will if you believe that such a man is possible, that only such a man will meet the need we face, that only such a man must be supported.

You see you have to create a place in your minds for this next president to fill. You have to make a place for such a man in your conception of the United States and of the future. You have to think in terms of what such a president would need to survive in office -- what kind of backing from the people -- what sacrifices and battles would have to be fought by the people for such a president to be able to carry out the reforms, the law enforcement and the leading of a nation out of a hell that the devils ruling that hell will make a thousand times more hellish in their efforts to keep it captive.

You want this president? Then let me ask you -- what must a girl do to marry a tall handsome doctor? rely on luck? Isn't there something a nation must do to get the right kind of president? Don't you have to eat, drink and sleep the right kind of man -- know what you are looking for, know what will fit the bill, allow for what it will take.


What has to happen in this country before we can get a president like that? Because let me tell you -- if the masses aren't ready to huddle protectively around such a president, to hold him up, to fight for him -- then you aren't going to get him, or if you do, he won't last 10 days.

A video that shows Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh at a U.S. military base that specializes in explosives and demolition training over a year after he supposedly left the army puts the official story of the April 19 1995 federal building bombing under serious doubt and mandates a re-opening of an investigation into the terror attack that killed 168 people.

The video was released by Bill Bean, a film producer who has suffered intense surveillance and harassment since taking the footage, and is the subject of a February 2007 Hustler Magazine feature story.

On August 3rd 1993, Bean was given a tour of the Camp Grafton military facility in North Dakota as part of a research effort to scout possible shooting locations for a film he was working on. Bean met the Camp Superintendent Col. Dahl and was permitted to film every location he visited.

Bean takes up the story, "I videotaped all locations as possible future shot sites even if there was no actual scene written for that location. Mess Hall, Rec Room, Armory, etc. About an hour into the tour we passed by a long row of tanks and I was informed these had been used in the Gulf War. In fact I believe I was told there were captured tanks there also. While videotaping and viewing this location, two soldiers began to offload what I was told was an armored personnel carrier from a flatbed. One soldier driving the other directing from the ground. I watched them for a moment and then did a slow 360 with my camera and came back to them."

Given permission to board the tank, Bean walked over and pointed the camera inside, at which point one of the soldiers turned around and, appearing somewhat shocked to see the camera, uttered a brief response to Bean's question and attempted to push past him.

That individual has now been positively identified to be Timothy McVeigh, who according to the official timeline as endorsed by the FBI, was honorably discharged from the military for the last time in May 1992. And yet he is seen here on tape at a U.S. military base over a year after that date in August of 1993.

"I did not realize how significant what I had was, for many years," states Bean, "It was not until Mcveigh's trial that I realized it was Mcveigh in the tank. Even then the larger point escaped me. That point is, McVeigh was not supposed to be in the military at that time. His military record shows him enlisting in 1988, being honorably discharged from the Army, on Dec. 31, 1991. His records then show he was in the Army reserve in Buffalo New York, from January 1992 until May 1992, he was then honorably discharged from the Army reserve. After May of 1992 he was never again in uniform on any base anywhere, never again part of the military. He was totally out of military service. The FBI states the only time they lose track of McVeigh, in his entire life, is the late summer of 93. They think he was somewhere between Kingman Arizona and Decker Michigan. Probably at gun shows, meeting antigovernment rightwing militia types. But he wasn't, he was at Camp Grafton, in uniform, learning explosives and demolition!"

To confirm that the individual in the tape was indeed McVeigh, Bean presented the video to Prof. Blomgren of the University of Utah, who then undertook a voice forensics analysis. The results produced an 86% match for the voice characteristics heard in the video compared to those taken from a 60 Minutes interview with McVeigh.

Though in a response to Hustler the North Dakota National Guard denied McVeigh was ever present at Camp Grafton, they did confirm that demolitions training is part of the regimen at the facility.

Bean provided us with a list of suspicious telephone calls, examples of harassment and surveillance that he had been targeted for in the seven year period after filming McVeigh, starting in 1994. Much of the surveillance and spying occurred even before Bean became aware that he had filmed Timothy McVeigh.

"On Wed June 19th 2002, my mother who lived with me was talking to a relative in Washington state. The relative said the line sounded "strange" my mother said "Yea, the phone is tapped!" At that point the phone went dead," claims Bean.

"Or, look at January 14th Tues 2003. We lived on the third floor of an apt. building. A green station wagon, Illinois plates HYB115, parked down two doors and sat there with the engine on. For over 25 minutes a woman sat in the driver's seat looking up in our window. All the while she kept a running dialogue with someone who wasn't there. She held a device, thin, dark plastic or metal up to her mouth and then would read something on it. She did this for more than 25 minutes. When my mother who was suffering from cancer, walked into the room, I whispered in her ear what was happening. Being a sick old woman she said out loud, "who is looking in our window from a car?" At that point the woman shoved the car in gear and sped away tires screeching!"

The fact that McVeigh was still involved with the U.S. army long after his supposed honorable discharge only amplifies long-standing questions that severely undermine the official explanation behind the Oklahoma City bombing.

- In early April 1995 a Ryder truck identical to the one used in the bombing was filmed by a pilot during an overflight of of an area near Camp Gruber-Braggs, Oklahoma. A June 17th, 1997 Washington Post article authenticates the photos as being exactly what they appear to be, photos of a Ryder truck in a clandestine base at Camp Gruber-Braggs. Why were the military in possession of a Ryder truck housed in a remote clandestine army base days before the Alfred P. Murrah bombing?

- In a 1993 letter to his sister, McVeigh claimed that he was approached by military intelligence and had joined an "elite squad of government paid assassins." McVeigh often contradicted himself and changed his story on a whim to fit in with the latest government version of events. Is the Camp Grafton footage evidence of McVeigh's enrollment in such a clandestine program?

- The August 1993 footage neatly fills in an unexplained gap in McVeigh' timeline that even the FBI cannot explain. Was this gap deliberately left ignored to avoid a probe into McVeigh's activities at Camp Grafton?

- The FBI claimed McVeigh scouted the Alfred P. Murrah building weeks before the bombing and yet on the morning of the attack he stopped at a local gas station to ask directions.

- Multiple reports of Arabs at the scene assisting McVeigh were ignored and surveillance tapes were withheld under national security. The likely reason for this was the fact that Bush senior and Clinton were responsible for bringing in nearly 1,000 Iraqi soldiers captured by U.S. forces during the 1991 Persian Gulf War, some of whom were involved in the bombing.

Saddam dead at dawn

SADDAM Hussein was hanged at dawn in Baghdad today, with the former Iraqi dictator refusing to wear a hood and yelling "God is great" as he stood on the gallows.

Iraqi officials said that on his way to his execution Saddam asked for his copy of the Koran to be passed on to someone.

US president George Bush welcomed the punishment meted out to Saddam, as Foreign Secretary Margaret Beckett said he had been "held to account" for "at least some of his appalling crimes".

Early reports suggested that Saddam's half-brother Barzan Ibrahim al-Tikriti and former judge Awad al-Bander were also hanged, but this was later denied by the officials.

Saddam was executed on an Islamic religious holiday and his death was witnessed by three Iraqi officials, including national -security adviser Mouwafak al-Rubaie.

Mr al-Rubaie said a judge read the sentence to Saddam, who was taken in handcuffs to the execution room, where photographs and video footage were taken.

"He did not ask for anything. He was carrying a Koran and said, 'I want this Koran to be given to this person', a man he called Bander," he said.

Sami al-Askari, political adviser to prime minister Nouri Maliki, who also witnessed the execution, said Saddam had struggled when he was taken from his cell in an American military prison.

He added that Saddam was clad completely in black, wearing a jacket, trousers, hat and shoes, rather than prison garb.

He said that Saddam had "refused to have his head covered with a bag", adding that: "Before the rope was put around his neck, Saddam shouted, 'God is great. The nation will be victorious and Palestine is Arab.' "

The officials said al-Tikriti and al-Rubaie would hang after the religious holiday, which ends on Tuesday for Sunnis and Wednesday for Shias.

Saddam went to the gallows following a lengthy trial that began on October 19 last year. Last month an Iraqi court sentenced the 69-year-old to death over the killings of 148 Shias from the Iraqi village of Dujail in the 1980s.

On Tuesday, a court rejected Saddam's appeal against his death sentence, prompting his defence lawyers to condemn the decision and call on Arab governments and the United Nations to intervene to stop the execution. Their pleas were in vain and Saddam, now resigned to his fate, vowed on Wednesday to go the gallows a "true martyr".

His rallying call came in a letter published on a website known to represent Iraq's former ruling party, the Baath Party. The letter read: "I sacrifice myself. If God wills it, he will place me among the true men and martyrs."

Saddam's execution was welcomed by many Iraqis. Ali Hamza, a 30-year-old academic from a Shia town north of Baghdad, said he went out to shoot his gun into the air after hearing the news.

"Now all the victims' families will be happy because Saddam got his just sentence," he said. United States troops cheered as news of Saddam's execution appeared on television at the mess hall at Forward Operating Base Loyalty in eastern Baghdad.

But people in the Sunni-dominated city of Tikrit, once Saddam's power base, lamented his death. "The president, the leader Saddam Hussein, is a martyr and God will put him along with other martyrs. Do not be sad nor complain because he has died the death of a holy warrior," said Sheik Yahya al-Attawi, a cleric at the Saddam Big Mosque.

As a security precaution, police blocked the entrances to Tikrit and said nobody was allowed to leave or enter the city for four days.

The Iraqi prime minister's office said Saddam's execution was a "strong lesson" to ruthless leaders who commit crimes against their own people.

Hamid Alkifaey, a former Iraqi politician, said: "It is a victory for justice, it is a victory for ordinary Iraqi people over tyranny, it is a victory for reason and it is a day of joy for all human beings."

US President George Bush said: "Bringing Saddam Hussein to justice will not end the violence in Iraq, but it is an important milestone on Iraq's course to becoming a democracy that can govern, sustain and defend itself."

A Downing Street spokeswoman said the statement from Mrs Beckett spoke for the whole government, including the Prime Minister.

Mrs Beckett said: "I welcome the fact that Saddam Hussein has been tried by an Iraqi court for at least some of the appalling crimes he committed against the Iraqi people. He has now been held to account."

She added that the Government "does not support the use of the death penalty, in Iraq or anywhere else" but added that "we respect the decision" of Iraqi authorities.

However, a statement from the Vatican today said the execution was a "tragic event like all capital punishments" and risked fomenting a spirit of vendetta and sowing new violence in Iraq.

The fate of Saddam's body was unclear today, with one Iraqi official saying it may eventually be handed over to his family.

A member of his defence team, however, expressed concern that Saddam's remains were destined for an unmarked grave. Today, Saddam's daughter Raghad, who is exiled in Jordan, asked that the body be buried in Yemen "temporarily until Iraq is liberated and it can be reburied in Iraq".

Defence lawyer Issam Jhazzawi said Saddam's daughters were prepared for his death. "The family are praying for him every minute and are calling on God that He let his soul rest in peace among the martyrs," he said.

Meanwhile, a Taliban commander in Afghanistan warned that the execution would galvanise Muslim opposition to the West.

Mullah Obaidullah Akhund, also said Saddam's execution on the Eid al-Adha Muslim festival was a provocation.

"Saddam's hanging on the day of Eid is a challenge to Muslims," Obaidullah said. "His death will boost the morale of Muslims. The jihad in Iraq will be intensified and attacks on invader forces will increase. Thousands of people will rise up with hatred for America."

James Brown, Godfather of Soul, Dies at 73

James Brown, a musical giant and one of the most breathakingly dynamic performers in all of entertainment, died early Christmas morning in Atlanta at the age of 73.

Brown, the self-described "Hardest Working Man in Show Business," was hospitalized with pneumonia at Emory Crawford Long Hospital on Sunday and died around 1:45 AM, according to his agent, Frank Copsidas. A longtime friend, Charles Bobbit, was at his side. Copsidas told the Associated Press, "We really don't know at this point what he died of."

With his unmistakable pompadour, stunningly agile dance moves, raspy vocal style, and almost superhuman on-stage energy, Brown, as much as anyone in the history of live performance, gave audiences their money's worth and much more. His gifts as a songwriter and singer, which helped earn him the title of "The Godfather of Soul," were hugely influential on the genres of funk, disco, and rap as well. His instantly recognizable hits included "I Got You (I Feel Good)," "Papa's Got A Brand New Bag," and "Say It Loud -- I'm Black and I'm Proud."

Brown's personal life, particularly over the last two decades, was beset with allegations of drug and alcohol abuse and domestic trouble. He spent 15 months in a South Carolina prison and 10 months in a work release program after leading police on a half-hour, PCP-fueled chase which ended with the tires of his truck being shot out. Brown recently married his fourth wife, backup singer Tomi Raye Hynie, with whom he had a young son. Brown had five children with his previous wives.

Cooking the Books: U.S. Banks are Giant Casinos

While media financial reporters keep the current focus of the public eye on Martha Stewart, the insolvency of U.S. banks due to their derivative holdings is being swept under the carpet.

Because banks have not been making a profit from traditional lending, derivatives became a fantastic way for them to net huge gains by trying to guess (gamble on) future prices of commodities or stocks. They were able to take these gambling risks because the Fed is supposed to back them from losses that would make them insolvent (more liabilities than assets). The worst part is that derivative transactions stay off the books and away from the prying eyes of investors and analysts.

U.S. interest rates being kept low by the Federal Reserve System (which is neither Federal nor does it have any intrinsic reserves) is to simply hide the hundreds of $Billions ($100 Billion U.S. Dollars = $100,000,000,000) of derivative losses and the true insolvency of U.S. banks. The moment interest rates start to run up, U.S. banks will be left holding little paper value assets to offset their vast derivative gambling losses.

U.S. stock markets are being manipulated to show overall value gains and "profits" is to keep U.S. banks "paper solvent". In reality, the public is being conned into thinking that U.S. banks are still solvent because they show "gains" in their stock "paper" value. If the U.S. markets were not manipulated, U.S. banks would collapse overnight along with the entire U.S. economy.

U.S. banks are merging with each other to hide their derivative losses with "paper asset" bookeeping that incorrectly shows they are solvent with enough "assets" to overcome their losses. In reality, this is smoke and mirror accounting, a scam worth $Trillions.

U.S. banks - with the privately owned Federal Reserve System at the helm - have turned into giant casinos by running a Casino Economy that is splintering into vast piles of insolvent firewood. The kindling was lit in the early 1990's, but now a bonfire is raging with great plumes of red-ink smoke. Can the Fed and the Fed-controlled media keep the public from seeing that red smoke with their manipulative mirrors? If the public would just open their eyes and wake up, they would see what's really going on, so here's something to focus your eyes on:

If you want to get a hint at how much red ink your U.S. bank casino is swimming in, look at their latest financial report and keep an eye out for an entry such as, "adjustment of derivative financial instruments" or "adjustment of non-interest instruments". If they list such an "adjustment" (most do not), this means they have written off the losses incurred from their derivative gambling.

If you bank with one of the 25 banks listed above, you can expect worse than the 1986-1990 Savings & Loan bank collapses when people were unable to remove all or most of their money from their accounts until years later. This time, you can expect to loose whatever they claim to "hold" for you because the FDIC and the "Fed" have no means to replace the losses with any intrinsic value.

If you choose to keep accounts with these U.S. banks, you have just become a high-stakes gambler, and the odds are stacked against you.

POLITICAL RECORD (DOMESTIC)

I ran for President in 2000. My campaign was destined to be a miserable failure until I used a whispering campaign of lies in the South Carolina Presidential Primary organized by my chief political strategist, Karl Rove, to destroy genuine war hero and fellow Republican John McCain, claiming he had fathered an illegitimate negro child was emotionally unstable due to his torture as a POW in Vietnam and a possible brainwashed Manchurian Candidate.

In July 2001 I appointed Harvey Pitt to be the chairman of a "kinder, gentler SEC" to ease regulation of foreign businesses. The results have been the largest and most miserable failures of corporate accountability in modern corporate history: Enron, Worldcom, and now Fannie Mae.

I am the first President to unconstitutionally restrict my opponents' First Amendment rights by allowing my supporters to remain at the venue while restricting my detractors to "free speech zones," fenced-off areas up to half mile away from the media, the audience, and especially myself.

I've communicated less with the American people than any other president in the history of televised news, holding only one White House press conference every 3.25 months, compared to my father's 1.6 per month.

To prevent activist judges from rewriting the constitution to serve an agenda that Congress would never approve, I attempted to rewrite the constitution to serve an agenda they never came close to approving. My campaign for the Federal Marriage Amendment was a miserable failure: it failed to pass either house of congress. In the Senate the cloture call to end debate yielded only 48 votes, not the 67 required to pass the Senate, not the 60 votes required for cloture, not even the 50 votes of a simple majority.

My 2004 budget set the record for the largest deficit in history: either $477 billion or $521 billion (CBO and OMB numbers, respectively).

The value of the dollar has collapsed 30% during my term.

Nearly every major economic indicator has deteriorated since I took office in January 2001. Real GDP growth during my term is the lowest of any presidential term in recent memory. Total non-farm employment has contracted and the unemployment rate has increased. Bankruptcies are up sharply, as is our dependence on foreign capital to finance an exploding current account deficit. All three major stock indexes are lower now than at the time of my inauguration. The percentage of Americans in poverty has increased, real median income has declined, and income inequality has grown.

POLITICAL EXPERIENCE (FOREIGN)

As president I ignored Clinton's warnings about Al Qaeda, mentioning that organization only once in public statements on national security between January 20, 2001 and September 10, 2001. In the same time period I mentioned Saddam Hussein 104 times and missile defense 101 times.

On August 6, 2001 I received a briefing titled "Bin Laden Determined to Attack Inside the United States" which warned that "the FBI indicates patterns of suspicious activity in the United States consistent with preparations for hijacking." For one month I dealt with numerous other issues until the unfolding of the most successful terrorist attack in US history on September 11, 2001.

With broad international approval I temporarily disrupted the Taliban government, which has now re-emerged to control much of southern Afghanistan after I abandoned this campaign for Iraq.

I campaigned strongly for war in Iraq. I claimed that:

Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction (none have been found).

Iraq had ties to Al Qaeda (Iraq opposed Al Qaeda and successfully kept their operatives out of the country before September 2001. The strongest claim to support a connection came from Czech intelligence services and is now retracted. The 9/11 commission "did not believe that such a meeting occurred".)

Iraq would give their weapons of mass destruction to terrorists (A secular Saddam would never give his "ace card" to religious elements he opposed throughout his life and could not control)

The war would be "self-financing" through oil sales ($200 billion total has been allocated, and $138 billion has already been spent with more to follow).

The war would end quickly, with troop deployments down to 30,000 troops by Autumn 2003 (March 2004 troop deployment: 114,000 US plus 23,000 Coalition troops in Iraq; 26,000 US and Coalition logistical support troops in Kuwait).

Americans would be greeted as liberators (Public perception of Americans as liberators dropped from 43% at the time of invasion to 2% after Abu Ghraib).

By invading I would make it more difficult for terrorists to obtain Weapons of Mass Destruction (The only WMD 'discovered' in Iraq was successfully obtained by terrorists and used against Americans. As a result of the invasion, nuclear equipment and materials in Iraq formerly monitored by the IAEA has disappeared and may have fallen into the hands of terrorists or rogue countries. The results have been overwhelmingly negative for U.S. interests.)

I punished those who spoke unwelcome truth:

I sent Joseph Wilson to Africa in February 2002 to investigate claims that Iraq had attempted to purchase uranium, where Wilson determined that those claims were based on forged documents. Despite his report I continued to make public Iraq/Nigeria statements as late as January 2003. When Wilson publicly contradicted me, one of my senior officials exposed the CIA cover of Wilson's wife, Valerie Plame, in an article written by Robert Novak and printed in the New York Times on July 14 2003. No one is sure which senior White House official leaked the order or who was aware, but the fact that I hired James Sharp in June 2004 to represent me as a personal criminal defense attorney is significant when you consider that there is no attorney-client privilege between a president and a White House counsel that allows the counsel to withhold information from a Federal grand jury.

I fired Lawrence Lindsey as my economics advisor in early December 2002 for claiming that the Iraq War would cost between $100 and $200 billion. ($138 billion has been spent and $200 billion has been budgeted... so far)

I fired Jay Garner as US Administrator of Iraq in March 2004 for calling for immediate elections instead of allowing American companies to privatize government-owned assets. (American privatization and lack of a legitimate Iraqi government is one of the major reasons for unrest in Iraq.)

I made US Army Chief of Staff General Eric Shinseki a lame duck in June 2003, defying precedent and announcing his successor 14 months in advance of his retirement after he announced that "several hundred thousand troops would be needed in postwar Iraq".

I threatened to have Medicare analyst Richard Foster fired if he replied to Congressional requests and reported that the Medicare Prescription Drug Bill would cost $551 billion, $156 billion over the White House's favored estimate of $395 billion.

After the Iraq Health Ministry released figures showing that US and Coalition forces killed twice as many Iraqis as the Insurgents the Iraqis are supposedly being protected from, I acted decisively by ordering the Iraq Health Ministry to not release any more figures.

I rewarded those who spoke welcome lies, paying Ahmed Chalabi and the Iraqi National Congress $340,000 per month for their false intelligence gathered about Iraq. Although Chalabi and the INC had been dropped from the CIA payroll in 1996 for being an unreliable source and also dismissed by the DIA (Defense Intelligence Agency) for the same reason, I continued to use Chalabi and the INC to support claims of WMDs in Iraq. Even after their information proved false and no weapons were found I remained so close to Chalabi that he sat with Laura Bush as my "Special Guest" during my September 2003 State of the Union address. I continued to pay the INC regularly until May 2004, when allegations surfaced that Chalabi had passed classified American intelligence to Iran.

I put tremendous pressure on the CIA to come up with information to support policies that have already been adopted (as determined by the Senate Report of Pre-war Intelligence on Iraq). When the CIA and DIA refused to verify intelligence items I wanted to believe, Donald Rumsfeld and I created the Office of Special Plans. This independent department within the Pentagon was designed to bypass the CIA and feed the discredited and unreliable information I wanted to believe was true back into the intelligence stream in order to support conclusions that the CIA and DIA could not. The OSP took much of the discredited information from Chalabi and the Iraqi National Congress.

I opposed the creation of the Department of Homeland Security for nine months, before turning around to take credit for its creation.

I opposed the creation of an independent 9/11 panel. After being forced to accept the commission, I gave it only $12 million in funding to do its work (compared to $50 million combined for Whitewater and the Monica Lewinsky investigation) before turning around to take credit for its creation.

My war against Al Qaeda has been a miserable failure:

The International Institute for Strategic Studies' most conservative estimate (May 25, 2004) is that the occupation of Iraq has helped Al Qaeda recruit 18,000 operatives in more than 60 countries.

The Jaffee Center for Strategic Studies at Tel Aviv University has found that The war in Iraq did not damage international terror groups, but instead distracted the United States from confronting other hotbeds of Islamic militancy and actually "created momentum" for many terrorists. On a strategic level as well as an operational level, the war in Iraq is hurting the war on international terrorism.

By my State Department's own estimates, world terror attacks are now at their highest level in 20 years, up 36% since 2001.

I have held 660 prisoners in Guantanamo, Cuba for over two years without trial or formal charge. My prisoners, several of whom were between the ages of 13 and 16, have never been formally charged. They are kept in steel cages, subjected to ongoing torture, and denied access to legal counsel in opposition to Supreme Court rulings (Rasul v. Bush). These prisoners are "the worst of the worst", "hard core, well trained terrorists" and their guilt is beyond doubt, which is why I've set 87 of them free without explanation or apology.

In the past year I claim to have trained 100,000 Iraqi police forces, but only 8,169 of those have passed the required 8-week training course. Another 46,176 are listed as "untrained".

My Secretary of Defense is the first in US history to have acknowledged ordering an intentional violation of the Geneva Conventions, in which Abu Ghraib prisoners were held "off the books" and hidden from the Red Cross. When this order was made public I refused to discipline him in any way, instead complimenting him on his job performance.

After being informed of abuses at Abu Ghraib on January 16 (first reported on January 13) which included "Threatening male detainees with rape" and "Sodomizing a detainee with a chemical light and perhaps a broom stick" I made "freedom from torture chambers and rape rooms" a centerpiece in my speeches until April 29 when the story finally broke on 60 Minutes II.

My administration is the first since the Civil War to imprison US Citizens (Jose Padilla) as "enemy combatants" without charges, trial, or access to legal counsel. In a 5-4 decision (Rumsfeld v. Padilla) the Supreme Court dodged the opportunity to rule on the legality, ruling that the case had been improperly filed.

My administration broke new legal ground by using material witness warrants to give effective life sentences to US citizens without charge, trial, access to legal counsel, or even plans to prosecute.

My justice department was the first in US history to attempt to enforce federal regulations while refusing to disclose what those regulations are.

My legal war against terror has been a miserable failure: I have detained more than 5,000 people on suspicion of terrorist ties, some of whom have been held without charge or without access to a lawyer.
