Hi guys, sorry this was meant to be done yesterday. I had a bit of a drunk night out on Thursday and it took me a while to get up and sort my life out.
Ok here goes, my memory has pretty much gone to pot so I will really try to remember things.
Monday - I think I may have had a chilled out day, trying to sort photo passes for Ibiza rocks the following day - which turned out to be a nightmare. Quite stressful. Every night we are watching the boys play - either heroes or stuntmen and I think on Monday it was Stuntmen as Aaron was saving his voice. I know you've heard it from me many times and from the Heroes blog - but please check Hungover Stuntmen out - they are amazing.
One reason is the tune on my myspace- add it.
Tuesday - The big day! Thats Ibiza Rocks launch night if you weren't aware - Underground Heroes, Ladyhawke and the Pigeon Detectives. My day started at 12 I think, 12 is early for me now...which is worrying because when I get back my brain is going to be very confused! I had to pick up a contract to sign for my press pass, which took a while. At 5pm we all headed to the San Rafael Hippodromo - the new venue for Ibiza Rocks. I think I previously mentioned that if you have been to Ibiza Rocks in the last couple of years, it will be a shock to you to see the change in venues. When we arrived after the 10 minute drive through the hills, I was baffled, what the hell was this place..a dog track? It all made sense after I'd actually checked it out, and it is a cool venue, I prefer Bar M still but each to their own, its a big wide open space and the sound is brilliant.
I got my pass sorted after Chris gave me his AAA so I could take pics of the boys on stage - Thankyou Chris. Heroes went on at 8, then Ladyhawke, and then at 10 - The Pigeon Detectives...now, let me tell you taking photos of these guys is not easy, whilst being soaked by beer and god knows what being thrown by the crowd, mr dear lead singer decided to spit his water at the nice photographers. 3 songs later and that was that, I decided to watch them after that. Fair play, they get the crowd going, they have a real arrogance about them, yet none of their fans seem to care that they're taking the piss out of them. After the gig we waited to get back and I think I had an early one...I think.
Wednesday - I put the photos up for you people! Check them out in the Ibiza Rocks folder. Let me know what you think aswell, opinions count. good or bad.
Thursday - Ahhh this was the day I chilled out, slept a lot, decided I wasnt going to drink because I had an email interview at 11am Friday and then it all went pete tong and I got in at 5am. We ended up at Ground Zero - Ibiza's Tap n Tin. We've met some really nice people down there and its a good laugh. The Dj plays the same tunes every night but when you're drinking Ibiza measures of vodka and diet coke you don't really care.
Friday - My alarm went of at 9 am I think. I pressed snooze..for 2 hours. Then Remembered that Company magazine wanted to do an interview with me about photography in Ibiza. So I rolled down to the wifi area and did the interview - Hopefully this will be printed in Company magazine at some point this summer. I'll keep you posted.
It was a nice relaxed day in the summer sun here. I had an evening nap, watched Heroes play and then prepared myself for one of the nights that I can only describe as one of my best nights in Ibiza.
MANUMISSION opening party. For those that haven't been here, this is one of the nights you must go to at some point in your life. Its difficult to describe and that is why you should do it yourselves. It is held at Amnesia - the islands second biggest club I believe. Manumission is all about dancers, shows and theatrical stuff. Every year they have a theme to their opening and closing parties. Last years closing was Dictatorship, this years opening was called 'Coney Island - the drag room' I'm not sure what this means, but it did mean that at 3 am this morning there were lots of sailors, a treasure trest, a mermaid and some weird characters in front of my eyes performing weird and wonderful things. One included a woman and a lightbulb - I'll leave that to your imagination.
Manumission is truly a night that can't be missed. Get yourself out for the closing party in September, trust me it'll be worth it.
And here I am now, Saturday with only 9 days left to go. The plan is this week to get photos done at Ibiza Rocks again, the photos for All saints and hopefully improve on my tan.
For now, take care, check the photos out. Final blog will be next week.
