Yesterday is but a dream, tomorrow but a vision. But today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness, and every tomorrow a vision of hope. Look well, therefore, to this day.

Had a pleasant surprise this morning...I logged on to www.winkelf.com (a new online craft selling site) and saw that my Orange Pixie was on the front page as an Editor's Pick! Sweet! :)

Current mood:  breezy

Well...it's been several months since I blogged here. So what have I been doing since March? Let's see...

In May I went to the beach, and got addicted to In the Groove 2 at the arcade. When I came back, I got a dance mat, PS2 and Dance Dance Revolution Supernova, and I have pretty much wasted a good chunk of my time doing that instead of doing anything productive. Emily is getting rather good at it too for a 3 year old. We just found out there is a Strawberry Shortcake edition DDR, complete with flower shaped dance mat, so that was the motivation for me to get busy sewing stuff again so I can get that for her.

After trying to crank out so much stuff for the Artisan show in April, I got really tired of sewing and didn't make anything until about a week ago. But now I have lots of new stuff in my Etsy shop: http://littlemoonoriginals.etsy.com so that's good.

At the end of March, a stray dog came to our house and never left...now he's an official part of the family. Turns out he's a hunting dog...a Mountain Tree Feist to be precise. He has markings like a Jack Russell, only he's like a gazillion pounds and as big as a calf. He thinks he is a lapdog so that is pretty funny. Emily named him Percy which is also pretty funny. I would have named him "Peanut" because he has a big brown spot that is shaped like a peanut on his back end, but oh well...the boss says he's Percy and what she says goes.

Mom is doing a lot better these days...still going for Herceptin treatments, but those don't make her sick like the other. She's up and about, hair is back...it's SO GOOD to see her feeling good after everything before...

The other good news...James and I are finally homeowners! We actually bought Mom's house, so we're slowly moving mom's stuff out and getting ready to move our stuff in from storage. We fixed up the living room... and I gotta tell you it looks FABULOUS. When we get our furniture in I'll post pix. We painted the walls "Turkish Coffee" (a very dark chocolate brown) and I got some hoity toity designer wallpaper for one wall...dark brown with some neat swirls and leaves on it. Got coppery brown curtains and some bronze leafy lamps. It looks REALLY REALLY good and I am proud. :)

So other than that, not much to tell I guess...just having a lazy summer!

Big hugs and lots o' love to all my friends!

Mom finished up the worst part of her chemo yesterday and her doctors said that her tumors have gotten smaller since the last time they tested, which is very happy news. We'll know more in a couple of weeks about what surgery she'll need and what will happen from here on out.

I had to write about the GORGEOUS doll my good friend Lisa sent me... this is Odette the Black Swan Nymphling. The way she styled her hair and did the silver handwork on the wings of this doll is just AMAZING. She has the greatest ideas and stories for her dolls and she is so incredibly gifted at her craft... She was way too kind to send me a gift this nice but I just LOVE IT and I am SOOOO HAPPY to have it... :) When I saw Odette in her shop I knew I didnt want anyone else to have her and now she's really MINEEEE...yay!!!!! So you really should check out Lisa's shop http://babji.etsy.com  because her dolls are really wonderful and she puts so much time and love and attention to detail in them they are really really magical!

(the trim on the dress is sparkly silver!!!)

(just look at the HAIR!!! and the wings!!! those wings are the coolest wings I have ever seen :) )

and check out these boots!!!

So that was a very happy surprise to find on the front porch...THANKS SO MUCH LISA!!!!

Oh...other news! I finally got a couple of things made for my new creative effort...you can see those here: http://nymphidium.etsy.com

So anyway! I hope all of my amazing wonderful friends out there are happy and having a lot of fun doing whatever it is that you do. Thank you to everyone who has been praying for our family and to those of you who have been so kind and supportive. I hope all the kindness returns to you multiplied a billion times. :)

Current mood:  good

Sooo...I haven't written a blog in a while. Ack...   I just get distracted sometimes.

Let's see...Mom is still taking chemo treatments. She's still pretty sick a lot of the time, but not as bad as she was in the beginning since they changed her meds. She found out she'll have to continue treatments for another year, but she won't be taking the chemo drug that makes her so violently ill so that's good.

Emily turned 3 in January. She's reading at nearly a first grade level, counting to 20, counting in Spanish...and her art is just amazing. I need to scan a picture of one of her faeries or angels because they are way cool.

James and I have been watching Breaking Bad religiously. It's one of the most compelling shows I've ever seen and I look forward to watching it all week long.. as disturbing as that is.

So I've gotten some pretty awesome stuff here as of late.  My good friend Kathryn (interiorglassdesigns and jewelrybytiki) sent me THE NEATEST crystal wand pendant....seriously it's the most magickal thing on Earth!  She also sent me a very awesome crystal pendulum and a Tarot card pendant that also has a removable crystal pendulum on it. She let me pick my card...I chose my favorite, The Hermit. LOVE IT. Kathryn is my Faery Godmother.

The other WONDERFUL stuff I got was from Michele at SpiralStone. She lives in Australia and she makes THE MOST AMAZING jewelry. We worked out a trade... 2 necklaces for one of my mandala messenger bags. She was being way too generous if you ask me!

Hmm...I guess that's about it. I have a secret project in the works...it's going A LOT more slowly than I planned, but I guess that's OK. Everything happens when it's supposed to. Send me some good juju.

Love and hugs to all my friends! :)

Current mood:  jubilant

Things have been a little gloomy lately but this morning I had a WONDERFUL surprise from my friend Cat Mallard of http://darklingwoods.etsy.com (Be sure to check out her amazing art! I'm lucky enough to own the first print of Anamchara and I LOVE IT!) She got me a spot in the Etsy Christmas Gift Guide and I was really excited to find my little Holiday Pixie looking back at me from the very top of the page. Thanks so much Cat for thinking of me and taking the time to let the Etsy admin know about me!!!!! It means so much to be supported by someone who is so kind and talented.  :)

November 16, 2007 - Friday

Probably only those of you closest to me know what has been happening in my family recently. A couple of weeks ago my Mom found out that she has breast cancer that has also spread to her liver. She's been put through a zillion tests and Monday had to have a port surgically installed so she can begin chemotherapy next week. It's going to be a tough road ahead but the doctors feel that they can get the liver cancer into remission and deal with the breast cancer at a later time when she's finished with the 6 months of chemo.

Our family and friends have been very helpful and supportive and I feel so very fortunate to be surrounded by such wonderful people. We have been shown more kindness than I would have ever expected or could ever repay. It has given me a lot of hope and encouragement knowing that there are such compassionate people in the world. :)

Thank you so much to everyone sending your thoughts and prayers to our family. Things are not going to be easy, but they will be a lot more bearable with our friends there for us.

Hello friend  ! I finally have some pictures of my latest projects uploaded to Photobucket. Today I listed the first Holiday Pixie Ornament:

I've also been really busy with my Bohemian Forest collection. It's different from my other stuff because it is leaf and mushroom themed things made from handpainted batik fabrics. Everything pictured below sold already but more is on the way as soon as I can make it.

This is a Tarot bag...what makes mine special (besides all of the hand embellishment) is the extra layer of organic cotton batting and on the inside there is a little 2" x 3" quilted pocket for storing crystals or other treasures:

This is the little quilted patchwork zippered pouch/coin purse:

And here are some little stuffed mushroom ornaments:

So yay! I'm having a lot of fun with my sewing. Be sure to keep my shop Little Moon Originals in mind when you make your Christmas wish list. Thanks for visiting...I hope you have a marvelous day and a very Happy Halloween!

Today I got a very exciting package in the mail from my new FAE friend Kathryn of INTERIOR GLASS DESIGNS!! In case you didn't know, Kathryn is the wonderfully talented artist who made the beautiful crystal wand I won in last month's FAE fairy art contest. (see blog entry below!) She sent me a lot of really wonderful goodies that I was very excited and thankful to get, but just look at these AMAZING Faery wands!!!! The picture doesn't do justice to how beautiful they are. The smaller one is about 2.5" and the bigger one is 3.25". I would really like to be selfish and keep these for myself, but since Kathryn was kind enough to send them to me for my Faeries, I'll have to pry them from my fingers and include them with two VERY special dolls... so stay tuned for updates because you're going to want one!

Kathryn's glass work is AMAZING so be sure to visit her shop Interior Glass Designs and tell her I sent ya!  :)

Exciting news! My friend in Colorado has just opened her shop on Etsy:

Nymphlings - Handmade Dolls by Babji

I can't say enough good things about her and her adorable amigurumi dolls! Be sure to pay her a visit and tell her I sent you!

She's ready! Cynthia from Fairies' Nest and I are co-hosting this month's FAE Street Team Art Contest - Fantasic Fall Fantasies. We collaborated on the prize, this beautiful one of a kind fairy doll (see the webpage here for more pictures):

I made the body and wings, and Cynthia did all the beautiful detail work! We decided in exchange for her doing more work on the doll, I would handle the technical aspects of the contest. I've been building the contest web page and I will also be responsible for setting up the polls when it's time to vote for the winner. Take a look:

FAE Art Contest III - Fantastic Fall Fantasies

I'll be updating the pages as the entries come in...so be sure and check back soon, and vote for your favorite when the polls open on October 9th!

Current mood:  good

Because of the recent loss in my family and my move, I was unable to make a proper announcement about my big news. It has been a very trying time...but there have been a lot of wonderful things happening to help me get through the sad times and hard work! I've made several new and wonderful friends who, along with my old and dear ones, have made everything go so much better. Thank you to everyone who sent me your kind and thoughtful emails and wonderful gifts, and thank you to Stephanie for all the manual labor carrying literally van-loads of fabric and antique drop leaf tables.

Cynthia from http://fairiesnest.etsy.com and I tied as winners of the FAE contest! My sincerest thanks and gratitude to everyone who came and supported me and the other wonderful FAE artists. My prize was this beautiful handcrafted wand made by Kathryn at http://interiorglassdesigns.etsy.com She was kind and generous enough to offer both of the winners wands!!! It is even more beautiful in person and I'm so proud to have this beautiful piece of art...a symbol of everything I've worked so hard for!

Another great prize for winning was a featured spot in the FAE blog...my interview about Dilly Dally is here:

http://fantasyartofetsy.blogspot.com/2007/09/fairy-contest-winners-part-ii.html

Lastly but not leastly, Cynthia and I are responsible for hosting the next contest, which will be Fantastic Fall Fantasies. We will be working together on the prize...an OOAK doll. I can't wait to see how it turns out when Cynthia does her magick on it. I'll be posting information about the contest as it comes in. I hope all my friends will take the time to check out the wonderful entries and vote for the winner when the polls open!

I took both of these pictures standing on my back porch. One is a Faery ring, and the other is a neat photo of a snail who was about the size of an M&M. I'm impressed with the macro setting on my camera...you can see the little cracks in his shell! And I didn't know little snails have spots like slugs. Makes sense.

I'm truly touched by her kindness. Denise at DC Designs wrote a super sweet blog about Little Moon Originals and her Dilly Dally doll here:

http://deniseculberson.blogspot.com/2007/08/yay-for-shopping.html

Check out her beautiful clay jewelry and art in her shop. I'm dying to have her My Own Solitary Forest pendant. I'll be working extra fast this week so I buy it before someone else does!
