...in your fear of raptors:

Brothers and Sisters,

It is with a heavy heart that I tell you this. Michael Crichton, the groundbreaking author whose novel "Jurassic Park" first educated mainstream society about the menace Raptors pose to humanity, has died.

Mr. Crichton fought a long, private battle with cancer and passed away November 4th at the age of 66.

He and his writings will be most surely missed.

Okay folks this is late breaking news from the underground. I have it on good authority from sources at certain motion picture studios who wish to remain nameless that in the upcoming installment in the Jurassic Park series...

THE DINOSAURS WILL HAVE GUNS!

END INVIS-O-TEXT

That's right, the powers that be must have been follwoing the "Raptor Quest" production blogs and stole one of our unused ideas for 'VelociCop' and turned it into JP4. That's the only conclusion I could draw when I heard the news. We'll be looking into a lawsuit, pending confirmation that they are indeed moving ahead with this plotline. Hopefully, this blog entry with be deterance enough to push them off into another direction or at least hire us to direct and cinematographer JP4.

Velociraptor - turkey with attitude

Okay so some of you may have heard the late breaking news that Velociraptors had feathers and were the size of a turkey. Well we here at Raptor Quest (bill and bill) would like to say that although we greatly appreciate any new discoveries about dinosaurs, let alone velociraptors, we hardly consider that a new discovery. I believe that this fact was first noted by the famous palentologist Dr. Alan Grant PhD as noted in a little docudrama called "Jurassic Park" where he was quoted as believing that raptors evolved from birds not lizards.

HOWEVER, that being said, we'd like to clarify a few things for those of you who are less than informed on Raptorology:

Velociraptors were actually really quite small, more like the size of the turkey. However, the name velociraptor was so damn cool that they decided to use it for Jurassic Park.

Now the dinosaurs portrayed in JP were actually the Deinonychus, which was one tough mug. Now as for Raptor Quest, we'll being going with the Jurassic Park school of thought and be making our V-raps non-feathered Deinonychuses but 10x as scary and vicious as JP 1, 2, and especially 3! (we won't have the fruity colors like in 3 either- no way, no how).

Continuing my raptor lesson for the day, there is also the Utahraptor which was even bigger and more American than any other raptors as it resided in what is now Utah... which is where the state got it's name (and if it truly is proven that raptors were birds, the Utahraptor will probably replace the California Sea Gull as the state bird (why a California bird is the poultry representative for the state of Utah is beyong me).

Last, but certainly not least, is the recently discovered Gigantoraptor which was recently found in China. How this gigantic raptor has eluded being discovered until now remains a mystery.
