Episode 71: Ron Rutherford's (Interview)
Discover Simple, Private Sharing at Drop.io

From the show host about the interview...

It was such an honor and blessing having Ron on Real As It Gets podcast. He’s a phenomenal, gifted and talented singer, songwriter. He touched on topics pertaining to why it is important giving his fellow musicians credit as well as the meaning behind Rarestar Music. Ron plugged in two tracks right here on Real As It Gets which are “Freak Flag” and “Bye Bye Baby Bye Bye.” Both tracks are phenomenal due to his rich, smooth and soulful vocals which hits you straight to the human soul, mind, body and spirit. Ron is the thirty third artist to be interviewed on our podcast.

From the music & art director about the show...

Real As It Gets has exclusive interviews of independent artists from IMRadio, MySpace, The Sixtyone and other websites featuring two of their tracks. Our podcast has listeners and subscribers from all over - globally. We also have other show formats on Real As It Gets. This podcast is designed to let the world hear the voices of the artists, sharing their thoughts, music and muses. Have you ever noticed when watching the late night show hosts - they only have the musicians as guests? Well, on Real As It Gets podcast the musicians are being interviewed not only as guests, but they are also taken seriously about their passion as artists. Fans will understand the true nature of the artists before their music.

of an

Interview with Ron Rutherford

Back on Thursday, July 10th, 2008, I posted “Ron Rutherford — Lone Wolf (Debut Solo Album)” after discovering his music on Last.fm. Being a fan of many of the singer songwriters that came out of the 1970s – Warren Zevon, Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen, JD Souther, Jackson Browne, Loggins & Messina, James Taylor, Steven Stills – I found Rutherford’s mix of Country Rock, Southern Rock and Classic Rock infused with elements of Blues and Pop to be quite refreshing. That Rutherford’s CD was also self produced appealed to my “Do-It-Yourself” ethic.
In this streaming podcast interview from Radio Galactica, Rutherford speaks at length about the emerging independent music industry replacing the old boy’s club of traditional record companies and traditional radio, the meaning behind the songs on ‘Lone Wolf’, and how the internet and internet radio is changing the landscape for independent artists.
The interview is 3 hours long yet well worth the listen. It includes the entire album, ‘Lone Wolf’ for your listening pleasure. I know it was mine.

...Fire Update...

Ridin in real quick to let y'all know I am OK, and to thank you so much for your well wishes!!!
So far, so good where I am specifically, but the fires continue to advance on residential areas around me. No containment yet.
The flames are easily visible from my kitchen and living room windows. Mandatory evacuation of nearby neighborhoods has been ordered up to 3 streets east of me including 7 Hills where the house is that was used to shoot the Speilberg film, ET, years ago.
A shelter is set up at the local high school a minute away from me.
LAPD & LAFD blockades set to keep looters out. They are also checking drivers licenses and writing down license plate numbers of vehicles traveling in the area or trying to get into cordoned off zones. They are being very informative, kind and wonderful when I have spoken with them. Let's here it for the LAPD, LAFD and Rescue Services!!! Their service is so much appreciated!!!
And, helicopters and planes are flying constantly in this treacherous environment not only on the ground but in the sky.
Tons of smoke in the air and ash falling. My house smells like a fireplace now and my yard looks like freshly fallen gray and black snow.
My eyes have been stinging like crazy off and on.
Many local folks on the streets (some with masks on) stayin' vigilant and watchin' the fires movements including yours truly.
I've got my shovel, ax, buckets and fire extinguisher ready to ~FFF~ rock this bitch of a fire if it gets anywhere near my house or my neighbors, dangit!!!
I was in NYC for 9/11 and it was as bad as you can imagine as a direct attack and aftermath, but this wild, freaky fire has a mind of it's own. Luckily the winds are stayin' down still, but the embers have somehow reached areas no one ever thought would happen like Canyon country far north and Alta Dena far east. Heck, I never thought it would arrive where I am, but here we are.
We have not had rain since I can remember, so everything is bone dry and a veritable tender box.
And, many, many music artists live here along with it also being a primary bedroom community for the entertainment industry in the valley, thus folks that support the arts.
We are all hangin' tough!!!

Thank you for your prayers and positive vibes through this ordeal!!!

Much love to you all!!!

Lock and load...back to the battle...giddy up, Rarestar...

~FFF~

Ron

Oh, and, you see the profile pic?
I took that shot last year right where the fires started, and it is toast now.
Angeles National Forest and an extremely wide range of the surrounding areas up in smoke.
My guitar will remain in the air until we...

...BEAT THIS FIRE!!!
