Craig recently had an awesome trip to California but unfortunately not to sign a Rather Irregular development deal. You can read all about his vacation and eight-day cross-country journey on his blog at www.c-eye.net/eyeon

And no, he didn't get discovered out in la-la land, but he did make his network TV debut!

Well, it's too damn hot to do much of anything here in the dirty dirty south, and our pitiful-excuse-of-a marketing blitz for a Rather Irregular Double Feature DVD has slowed to a standstill. We've still got a few copies left for sale, so get your ultra-rare first edition DVD now, 'cause there probably will be no second edition.

Since I'm bored as hell, I thought I'd update you on a couple of R.I.P. cast and crew members, and what they've been up to:

Our intrepid writer/director Mark Smith has been slaving away as an animation instructor and recently published a great instructional book The Art of Flash Animation: Creative Cartooning. He also recently posted a new cartoon to his website MarkToonery.com titled Need It Yesterday Machine. It's pretty darn funny, so go check it out. Also be sure to see his site's Portfolio section for his latest commercial work. You should especially dig the animated spot he did for The Woolly Sheep Mountain Trading Co.

Michael Smith has a new website for his photography business. - Draco Photos offers wedding, event, portrait, and on location photo services in the Montgomery, Alabama area. When not taking great photos, Michael is an accomplished graphic artist and a new father. Check out his personal website DracoComics.com for some of his great comic books and a portfolio for his art and graphic design services.

Sorority Ninja Pizza Girls star Mia Frost has been working on a new film with local director Chance Shirley. Crewless Productions' second feature-length movie is Interplanetary - a sci-fi/horror flick that looks very promising. Read updates from the director on his blog Everybody On Mars Is Dead.

Tony Beckham's sketch & improv comedy troupe, BrainFreeze is still performing regularly in Montgomery, with their next show on August 25th.

That's about all I know at the moment, check back soon for more updates.

If you love movies, or have SEEN a movie for that matter, you should watch the documentary This Film Is Not Yet Rated!

Kirby Dick exposes the ultra-secretive MPAA and their process for awarding film ratings such as the infamous NC-17 (which means hardly any theater in the U.S. will show it at all).

Ever wonder why it's perfectly ok to see a woman's head get violently blown off in a R-rated movie but if we see her
'hooha' or she enjoys too much pleasure the footage is left on the cutting room floor? Well, the fact that two members of the clergy are on the MPAA appeals board may have something to do with that...

Learn more great insights into an obviously flawed system with way too much power that uses censorship to deny great art through filmmaking in this well made documentary. The doc features lots of great interviews along with some real intrigue and laughs, and the filmmaker takes you along as he goes through the ratings and appeal process for the very film you're watching. (I'll leave it a mystery as to what rating it initially gets, but I'll bet you can guess.)

I love documentaries, and this is one of the best I've seen in quite a while. My only complaint is Dick didn't delve into how the studios abuse the ratings system to make even more profit by selling unrated movies on DVD. Doesn't it make sense that the studios would encourage censorship of theatrical releases just so they can have this more attractive 'unrated version'? That way even someone who saw a movie at the theater might be enticed to rent or buy a DVD of that movie just to see what was cut out. Isn't it foolish to think a ratings system on movies in the theater prevents kids from seeing this content when they can more easily watch it at home?

Child director sues over short film

Fri Jan 26, 4:40 AM ET

A 10-year-old boy who directed a short film starring Kevin Bacon sued a woman who helped finance the movie, saying she unfairly demanded creative control and distribution rights.

Dominic Scott Kay, a child actor who was the voice of Wilbur the pig in "Charlotte's Web," claims in a lawsuit filed on his behalf Thursday that he came up with the story for the short film "Saving Angelo."

The movie is based on Kay's real-life effort to nurse an abandoned, badly injured dog back to health.

The lawsuit filed in Superior Court alleges that Conroy Kanter, who sunk about $11,000 into the project, demanded creative control, including the right to decide where the film can be shown.

She "has threatened to sue Kay (a 10-year-old!) if he finishes editing the film ... without her consent," the lawsuit says.

Kanter's lawyer contends she gave the money as a charitable contribution and that the lawsuit stems from a dispute between Kanter and Kay's mother over who should benefit from the film.

"Unfortunately a child had to be dragged into this," attorney Michael Stoller said.

The lawsuit seeks a jury trial and a court declaration that Kanter has no right to creative control, or the distribution or promotion of the movie.
