This Tuesday (tomorrow night!) Thad Burkhalter (Centrifuge) will still be in Sonora! He'll be leading a worship session at Sonora Baptist Church, at 6:30, I believe.
Tuesdays at SBC are usually Youth Group nights, but Pastor Skip Ferris invited the congregation to join Thad, and the Youth, to worship GOD.
I'll most likely be going, since I missed Saturday night's concert.
Hope to see you there! ~Rebecca~

and for Auld Lang Syne.... WHA?? Here's a little wikipedia research I did: The lyrics are from a poem written, in part, by Robert Burns in 1788. It's Scottish, and translated, the title means "old long since," or "Long, long ago," or even "days gone by." The tune is nearly untraceable, but is a Scottish folk melody that was most likely sung in a quick, happy tempo. It originated in Scotland and quickly became a custom there, spreading to other parts of the British Ilse. Guy Lambardo (Canadian band leader) is credited with popularizing the song and bringing it to the world through radio and TV since 1929. Phish, Relient K, Barenaked Ladies, Bobby Darin and Straight No Chaser (Indiana U), and MANY others have sung, played and recorded the song. It has been used in films and TV since 19 42, from Charlie Chaplan's The Gold Rush, to Ghostbusters II, It's a Wonderful Life, and Kill Bill vol1. Now you will meet 2009 a little more educated. Glad i could help. =] ~Rebecca~

hey, just thought I would ask for some prayer right now. I could use it. As some of you know, My Dad way laid off from McClatchy, after working diligently for them for almost 20 years. Pray for God to clearly lead my Dad to the right choice between a job OR a school training program. he can only choose one, so if he gets the job, he has to quit school. He's excited about both, but doesn't know which will be better for us at the moment. A couple for me: Last weekend I had an incident with a co-worker, and I personally got a lot out of it. God used this as a teaching moment for me, and now i have to re-evaluate how i use my words. Pray that I can learn from this experience. Also pray that God can use this experience as a teaching moment in my co-worker's life, too, and that we can both grow from it. I'm not mad at him, but i think he is still mad at me. he's being very professional with me during work, and i really respect that. So pray that God can resolve our little exchanging of words and that things at work will stay uncomplicated, and that we can learn how to exercise patience with eachother. Also pray for me and my relationship with God. I've been neglecting time with Him. I could blame it on school and work, but i know I'm in the wrong. Also, I will be buying a car pretty soon. i'm looking around and have a good idea of what i need. Pray that God will bring me the perfect vehicle. He knows what i can handle. I also have a friend who needs to find a job soon, or she might have to sell her car because she can't make the payments. This car is the way she gets to SCHOOL. she's also worried that her credit score will be affected. pray that she either finds a job, or that her needs are taken care of some other way, if it be God's will. Also pray for another friend whose Grandma recently had a heart attack. He lives her in her home. She's doing well and will be home soon. Pray that she heals and that my friend will still have a grandma for years to come. and last but not least, i suppose we should pray for our country. enough said.

I know it won't do any good to complain, but today I really want to have my license. And my own car. I really don't want to miss Sierra Bible College Group this Thursday night, but I have to because I can't find a ride back home. Nor can I spend the night at someone's house because my Mommy wouldn't be able to get me on Friday.
This is my advice to anyone 16 and over: start practicing your driving NOW, get your license NOW, and save up for your car NOW, so can have them by the time you're in college. It's a real bummer having places to go and people to see, and being 20, and NOT having a way to get to them. Also, you don't want to feel like a loser and have to depend on your parents and friends for rides.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED; Take it from my experience!
Ok, thank you for letting me vent. ~Rebecca~

I had been looking for a verse the other day that my mom shared with me a long time ago. I finally found it.
It's 1 Thessalonians 5:22. The NIV translates it as "Avoid every kind of evil."
But I MUCH PREFFER the KJ translation: "Abstain from all appearance of evil." It's so much more convicting. For me, anyway.
"ALL APPEARANCE"
Wow.... I don't know about you, but it makes me think about EVERYTHING I do, with EVERYONE, and if my actions are edifying at all times....
How about you? Do you have any verses you can share with me in my walk with the LORD?
~Rebecca~

1 Timothy 4:12 Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but be an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.
I have already put this verse into practice this Summer, and plan on keeping it that way. I want to keep my thoughts pure, which in turn will keep my words and actions pure. I want to glorify God and my faith in Him. This Summer I plan on being an example, and at the same time learning from my elders or those more spiritually mature than I. I realize this Summer I am a servant of God and his people. I am an example of His Truth. I don't want anyone to have a reason to look down on me. I plan on keeping myself accountable, and asking others to keep me accountable in my words and actions. I realize that some things I could "get away with", but with my guilty conscience, I will have an impossible time doing things I shouldn't when I know GOD is looking over my shoulder. So, as Paul tells Timothy, I will use my words, my actions, my relationships, my testimony and my heart in ways that glorify GOD. In other words, DO NOT tempt me, you will feel my wrath =] ~Rebecca~

I find I really don't like those distractions that just creep up on me, out of nowhere.... Distractions that are there all day, and that I can't deal with.... I'm not getting in trouble, i just wish i could go through the day being more focused on my tasks and how I am to glorify God... Sunday i was shown a verse, Proverbs 23:26, it's working to keep me focused: "My son, give me your heart, let your eyes keep to my ways."
Oh precious Lord, keep my heart in your hands. Remind me that my eyes are Yours, not the world's, and that nothing on this earth is worth focusing on more than You.How is YOUR summer going??? ~Rebecca~

"Wait, I hear yelling!" Zach says from his seat in the back of the van. It's a Wednesday evening and we're heading to Jenness Park so i can get to work. Mom had just pulled into the parking lot of a closed Storage Unit Rental site so we could switch seats, letting me take the wheel. I look to Zach, who is frantically pulling off his head phones. I thought he meant that a voice on his book on tape was yelling. Seemingly out of nowhere, a fire alarm goes off, causing me to turn my gaze toward the gate that lets vehicles into their storage unit. A lady is standing there, nearly in tears, looking through the bars of the gate. "They locked me in!" she cries, and Mom and I step out of the van to help her. I dive into mom's purse to grab the cell phone, and Mom calls 911. I walk to the trapped lady to comfort her. "We'll get you out of here." I say calmly, and reach through the bars to touch her shoulder. Her tattoos, wrinkles, and slightly slurred speech tell me she has had a hard life. Mom gets hold of the police on the phone, who send out a cop, and a Storage Unit representative with the keys. We talk with the lady, learning that she's moving, and that she had planned on just walking to her friend's house, even though she had an infected leg. She said that she had sorted through her storage and swept her unit, and by the time she was done, she found herself locked in! No one was coming to get her later, so she was truly stranded, trapped behind locked bars, as if she had done something wrong. She had been trapped for 20 minutes before we got there. We had just visited the Thrift Store and Mom had picked up a three dollar vintage fold-up chair. We got that out and passed it to the lady so she could sit while we waited for the people to show up. I also offered her food, because I had packed yogurt to take home with me, but she was fine. Our random detour was meant to be. God brought us there to be her knight in shining armor that evening. We left her with the Cop and the woman with the keys, who was unlocking the gate as I drove away, a smile across my face and tears in my eyes. I'm positive that lady believes in miracles, definitely now if she didn't before. ~Rebecca~
