An interesting blurb appears in the Rumor Mill on HitsDailyDouble.com, with excerpts of props from major publications...

THE GREAT WHITE HOPE?  Reviews of Elliott Yamin's new Hickory album Fight for Love are noting parallels to a pair of contemporary R&B superstars.  Entertainment Weekly said the LP has "A vibe not far from Usher's 'Love in This Club' [and] the brooding R&B jam [title track] is totally radio-ready," while awarding it an A-.  People opined that "Cuts like the title track and the Stargate-produced 'Don't Be Afraid' find him smoothly moving in on Ne-Yo."  Pretty fly for a white guy.

A nice review by Tyrone S. Reid, featured at BlogCritics.org...

On Fight For Love, Yamin sings a lot, too, about longing for companionship and finding The One.  You feel him.  But what makes his music both likable and memorable is the heart and raw emotion he pours into the songs.  You never get tired of hearing him, which is a relief, believe me.  You will be enthralled by the opening track "Let Love Be", a wonderful track to be savored and played repeatedly, and other cuts like the beautifully written cuts “You”, “This Step Alone” and “Someday”.  With the sensitivity and consistency demonstrated throughout the album, the singer pulls you in.

MTv has compiled a list of "The 10 Greatest 'American Idol' Contestants Of All Time"... Elliott comes in at No. 8...

People forget just how great Yamin was on the fifth season of "Idol," earning high praise from judges and mentors alike.  Simon Cowell called him "potentially the best male vocalist" in the show's history, and his stirring take on Leon Russell's "A Song for You" remains one of the finest "Idol" performances ever.  Yamin ended up finishing third, behind Katharine McPhee and Taylor Hicks (seriously), and while his post-"Idol" career hasn't been huge, his self-titled 2005 debut bowed at #3 and has since gone gold.  Couple that with a compelling backstory (his hearing loss, his late mother's battle with an undisclosed illness) and Yamin might be the most underrated Idol in history.

John J. Moser of The Morning Call reviews Elliott's mini-concert last night at Allentown's Mayfair Festival...

Supporting act Elliott Yamin also sang six songs in less than a half hour, belting them out with such abandon his face turned red.  He reached for the limits of notes and delivered with the intensity of a tent preacher...

Richmond.com posts an interview (conducted last week) with Elliott as a prelude to his return to Richmond this weekend for a series of concerts in Virginia.

Elliott offers an insight as to his future endeavors...

As far as his future in music goes, Elliott would love to eventually have a recording studio in his home.  As a recording artist, I suppose having one of those is similar to an artist with his sketchpad.

"It would be nice to have a simple studio or music room where I can lay down ideas whenever I have them, when I'm home."

Elliott gets excited about doing more collaborations in the future.

"I'd like to write with other artists and write songs for other artists," says Elliott.  "I can see myself maybe doing some pieces on a hip-hop song or a duet with somebody like Colbie Callait."
