Another 5 stars for BULLY from Broadway Baby.

A harrowing first-hand account of a cycle of transformation from victim of circumstance to victim of fate told by a character who just wants to find a quiet spot where he can just belong (to paraphrase a line from the show).

As he travels through the story, visiting childhood experiences, first crushes, first love, there is just enough variety of pace and rhythm to maintain the audience’s attention. Fry’s idiosyncratic poetic storytelling style adds both lightness and gravitas to his story. He fires off the arrows of big emotion with understated genius, launching pauses and unspoken words with the skill of an Olympic champion. The simple emotions, however – the simple comfort derived from feeling the heat of the sun on his nose, or the feelings that paddling with minnows and sticklebacks raises - are launched too quickly to hit their mark with the same precision.

The horror and angst of some of the experiences Fry describes are delivered with a smile and a highly individualistic sense of humour, hitting the mark best with the wry punch that comes from where you’re least expecting it.

Undoubtedly the best hour I had at The Fringe this year was with this lot.  Well, I say an hour, it was actually five because that's how many times I went back to see them.  I'm not going to describe them because their act is so unique that I couldn't do it justice, all I will say is that it just made me happy.  Big time.

They deserve to be as big as The Beatles and if they were, the world would be a better place.

Check out their website and if they come to a town anywhere near you, go and see them and take everyone you know.

Once again The Fringe has passed...

I had such a FANTASTIC time again this year.  BULLY went from strength to strength picking up its fifth five-star review and sixth four-star.  That makes me very happy.  My new show Killing Me Softly didn't fare as well with the reviewers but did great at the box office and the audiences had a great time (got my first heckler - Yeah!).  It really wasn't hard at all doing two shows a day, I soon hit my stride.  Now when I'm touring BULLY, it all seems to be over so quickly, I want to get up and do another one.

It's so inspiring being around so many other creative people and seeing so many shows.  Felicity Ward, Camille O'Sullivan, The List Operators, Sound & Fury, Bec Hill, Rob Brown, Dave Thornton, Trestle Theatre Company, Lady Garden, Triona Adams, Evelyn Brink, Celia Pacquola, Bridget Christie, Showstoppers...and a cast of a hundred other AMAZING talents.

Plus a BIG shout out to the team at The Gilded Balloon.  I miss them the most.  Doing a one man show is a pretty lonely existence at times and they became my surrogate family.  Much respect.

I've already started writing my new show.  Going to keep the ball rolling now.  I'm going to hit Edinburgh with two shows again next year.  Hell, I might even make it three :-)

Well, sort of...

The Guardian posted a video podcast of a day in the life of The Gilded Balloon.  Blink and you'll miss me although you do get more than an eyeful of The Chippendales.  I actually went to see their show.  It was good fun.  I never thought I would type that last sentence.

Check out NATASHA tonight on Zone Thriller (Sky 148) @ 9pm.

It's a nice little tale of a Russian stripper on the run from the mafia who holes up with the vicar and his family in a quaint little English village.

I had a brilliant time filming it and it is a good film.  It's just a shame I ruin it with my Jamaican accent.

Enjoy.
