Rico play an absolutely blinding set. Christ. It's been a couple of weeks, and they're still buzzing around my head. Helpfully, the only thing I have in my notes is " Rico blow apart the world by dint of sheer awesomeness". Apposite, perhaps, but difficult to expand upon. The band are difficult to categorise, as they're all over the place. Snarling, electronic punk crossover, only groovier, Rico are what Monster Magnet would be if they were on uppers instead of downers, and with a few thousand volts run through them. If you haven't heard their cover of Psycho Killer yet, drop whatever you're doing and go check it out. We get a few tracks from Sanctuary Medicines, most notably the glorious title track, but this set is primarily composed of more recent material, and it's no bad thing. Big Black Sea, another stand-out track from new(ish) album Violent Silences, is particularly good, slipping a hand inside your ribcage and giving your innards a good squeeze. Your only choice when faced with a band this excellent is to dance like an absolute fanny. And this is exactly what I do.
Some guy next to me is doing exactly the same thing, and not in a half-arsed way, either. He's using his whole arse, as well as every other body part at his disposal. At one point between songs he asks me: "Have you heard these guys before?" When I respond in the affirmative, he tells me: "This is the first time I've heard them! They're fucking amazing!" It's great to see someone get so enthusiastic about a new band as to throw himself on the floor, not notice when you accidentally punch him in the head while dancing, and just generally have an outstanding time. He's not the only one, either. Rico have made a lot of new friends tonight, and they're well deserved. To top it off, right after the band leave the stage, the DJ sticks on an awesome live version of Papa Won't Leave You, Henry. Several of the crazy fuckers I've been dancing with stick around for this. It's amazing fun.

Not a record but a bit of nice fun, as we did a search and we are listed asthe No1 Myspace Industrial artist with most friends & plays in the UK so our first UK No1!!!!!
We are 2nd in the UK for Trip Hop and 9th for Alternative but since when have Bloc Party, Cold play and Oasis been alternative so we are actually claiming 6th ;o)
Please feel free to have a listed to the new tracks from the EP "Float 2", which are very rare and if you like them recommend us to your friends as it feels good being a UK Myspace No1 and we want to get up the US chart so we can convince somebody to fund a tour their.
Thanks again for the support!!!

So to make up for it we have added two tracks from the limited edition "Float EP" we did which features alternative versions to the original "Sanctuary Medicine" album tracks.
For those that love "Attack Me" the punk rock version of "Float" should raise their boat and for those that like Big Black Sea, "Dear God (This Means Nothing" will be black as you need!

The original video for "Float" is @ www.rico.co.uk in Sight & Sounds" and if you want better updates click contact and join or mailing list please!!!
We are number 1 in the UK Myspace Industrial section but we need to get a few more people to get from page two to page one internationally so forward us to your cool friends please!! If we get their by Christmas there will be a nice Myspace surprise for people.
Thanks
Rico

This rare Rico cover was recorded for a tribute album to the Glasgow blues singer Frankie Miller who had a brain haemorrhage that left him semi-paralysed and learning to walk and talk again.
The album raised £100K for Frankie and the track features a sample of Frankie's vocal.
THE DEVIL GUN
WORDS & MUSIC FRANKIE MILLER
I DON’T MIND YOU LAUGHING IN MY FACE
I DON’T MIND THE WAY YOU TAKE ME DOWN
YOU KNOW THE BED OF THE RIVER
ONLY LASTS FOR SO LONG
DON’T MIND THE FEELING YOU ERASE
I DON’T MIND THE TAILOR IN YOUR TALK
I DON’T MIND YOU BRAGGING DOWN THE TOWN
YOU KNOW THE BED OF A RIVER
LETS THE PEBBLE ROLLON
DON’T MIND YOU DO JUST WHAT YOU CAN
WHO IN THE WORLD EVER WONDERED
WHERE IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU RUN
RAISED BY THE SEVENTH DAUGHTER
BORN OF THE DEVIL GUN
I DON’T MIND THE WHISKEY IN YOUR WATER
I DON’T MIND THE SUGAR IN YOUR TEA
YOU KNOW THE BEST WAY TO TAKE IT
IS JUST TO LET IT ROLL ON
EVERYBODYS GOT TO FEEL FREE
WHO IN THE WORLD EVER WONDERED
WHERE IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU RUN
RAISED BY THE SEVENTH DAUGHTER
BORN OF THE DEVIL GUN
I DON’T MIND THE CIRCUS IN YOUR SMILE
OR THE WAY THAT YOU DRINK THE WINE
OR WHY PEOPLE GET SUPPRESSION
STILL YOU GOT TO ROLL ON
PEOPLE KNOW THE BEST IS UNDONE

Hi,
Like you all we are not please that a large media company has taken over Myspace a place where we found a ton of cool people.
There seems to be a huge protest about this and we have have lost 300 people since he took over.
It is really important for an unsigned band like ours to have a place where we can connect with fans so we don't have much choice other to remain on Myspace and to continue doing our thing. If you are about to jack on Murdock we can't blame you but do pop by our website and register so we can tell you what we are up to.
A bad day for free speech!

Hey we promised to put something up once we got to 10000 so instead of changing one track we have done two.
Freefall from Violent Silences & Bed of Nails (demo) both went down well during the recent gigs so we have made them available for download on Myspace. (lyrics to follow).
We are looking forward to the Scottish gigs in the next two weeks and the Fall dates are starting to role in!
Thanx again for the support it is fuck off important when you are struggling to pay for tours & enjoy the tracks!!!!

BED OF NAILS
The heat in this room must be a hundred degrees
The sweat from your body soaks through your sheets
The sounds of the city echo all around
I’ll meet you in your sleep when the light fades out
I’m going to touch you up, drag you down
On this bed of nails
I’m going to tie you up, let it out
On this bed of nails
We’re not broken, we’re just flawed
We hide from what we seek
Howling at the moon
Perfection is the freak
Night time’s getting loud
I’ll meet you in your dreams when the light fades down
I’m going to touch you up, drag it out
On this bed of nails
I’m going to tie you up, drag you down
On this bed of nails

I left a rose at the bottom of the big black sea For you, from me I haven't uttered a sound since you set me free I wish I was you, and you felt like me
Outside connection's breaking down Internal wiring's burning out The cloud's so thick that I can't see This is for you, from me
She said tell me all your secrets, fantasies and fears Let me see the Polaroid’s of people you hold dear Trapped in tunnel vision and monophonic sound She loves you, she loves you Then it all falls down Echoes round the bedroom, projections on the walls Translations of her letters Forever’s not at all Trapped in tunnel vision and monophonic sound She loves you, she loves you Then it all falls down
Outside connections breaking down Internal wiring's burning out The cloud's so thick that I can't see I wish I was you , instead of me
I left a rose at the bottom of the big black sea I did it for you, from me I haven't uttered a sound since you set me free I wish I was you and you felt like me Outside connection's breaking down All Internal wiring's burning out I dive down towards the big black sea This isn't for you , this one's for me
This time it's all for me This time it's all for me This time it's all for me This time it's all for me It's all for me
