I found this to be of interest and thought it would be of special interest to photographers. We're living in paranoid times and more and more people seem to feel threatened by photography. I was just reading another article about a Boston photographer that has been harassed by police for shooting in a public place. There was a link in the article to a downloadable pdf version of "The Photographers Bill of Rights". This is a good idea and something all professional photographers should carry in their bag just in case you run into a situation where you are being hassled by police. I know from experience that this does happen a lot and is getting worse all the time. I've been harassed at least half a dozen times while shooting in a public place with the most recent being 2 weeks ago while shooting moving car lights from an overpass at night. Someone reported seeing me and apparently they thought I was a suicide getting ready to jump from the bridge. 3 police cars with flashing lights pulled up as I was taking pictures. The whole thing was actually kind of funny. I explained what I was doing, handed out a few business cards and told the officers to have a good night. I'm not going to get into detail. But, I have run into other situations that weren't so pleasant. In such cases it might be handy to have a copy of "The Photographers Bill of Rights" handy. Here's the link to a page where you can find a downloadable version.

One of my photos has been chosen to be used in an on line magazine called "Creative Image maker ". "Crative Image maker " is a film only magazine and is about being creative within the camera and/or darkroom. It is about the process of film. There is NOTHING digital in this magazine. This is a fairly new magazine. It's just beginning to develop. But, from the responses I've seen in Flickr in film group threads, I think it's a welcome development. There are hoards of photographers that have stayed with film and either shoot both film and digital or are not interested in digital at all. Many of them would like to see an all film magazine. At this point in time there is a niche that needs to be filled because virtually all of the photography magazines I've seen in print are all about digital. The photographers who refuse to give up film are somewhat frustrated with this. I started a thread asking how many people would like to see a "FILM ONLY" magazine and the response has been significant. There seems to be a large number of people that would like to see this happen. Anyway, I'm still shooting 100% film and would very much enjoy being able to read about it once again. The editor and creator of "Creative Image Maker" magazine David Vickers has expressed interest in having me contribute regularly to the magazine. Possibly in a monthly article. Being an outspoken film photographer that's well known for giving the digital guys a rough time in the film forums on flickr, I'm probably the perfect guy for the job. So, We'll see what happens. I'm looking forward to working with David and watching the magazine grow.

Landsdale Bike Night was a blast this year with lots of new bikes, bands and vendors. There were 3 stages set up in various locations. I never made it to the 3rd stage. However, I did manage to photograph 4 bands and lots of great bikes. The bands were "American Sugar Bitch", "Indecision", "The Nazz" and "Krysis". To see the photos, go to the following links.

Britny Fox put on a great show in Allentown, Pennsylvania 6/7/07 and the crowd really enjoyed it. Billy put on an energetic show and I could tell he was happy to be out on tour again. Tommy Paris' vocals were very strong as was expected. I thought Tommy Krash did an admirable job of filling in for Michael Kelly Smith. I highly recommend any Britny Fox fan make the effort to get out and see the guys play live. You won't be disappointed. Q & A with Tommy Krash

For those of you who haven't heard the news, Tommy is the new guitarist that will be going on tour with Britny Fox in 2007. Tommy will be answering a few questions for me about Britny Fox and some of the other highlights of his career as a musician.

1. So, How's it feel to be going on the road with a band that's been such an influence for such a long time ?

It feels great. Bite Down Hard is one of my favorite albums so it's going to be amazing to play those songs with the band.

2.Will you be recording any of the live Britny Fox shows for possible future release ?

I'm sure these will be recorded somehow. Not sure about releasing them though. I heard the Rocklahoma festival may be televised or made into a DVD so that would be cool.

3. Will you be playing on any soon to be released Britny Fox studio albums ?

The current focus is to get the band on the road again. I recorded some Childs/Krash stuff with Billy so that may be the closest thing to playing on a Britny record, but you never know how things are going to shake out…

4. I'm sure there are probably a few aspiring young guitarists who would like to know what type of gear you're using. What guitars will you be taking on the road ? Do you have any favorites ? Is there anything in particular that you'll be using to get a specific sound ?

For guitars I will have a Fender Strat and a custom Sully Firebird. The sully is very similar to the Jackson guitars that Robbin Crosby from Ratt played. I have a Les Paul that I will be leaving at home which sounds amazing. Unfortunately it will not be road ready in time to take out. My tone is very similar to the Michael Kelly Smith tone. We all just got new Nady half stacks so it may take a while to dial in the tone since I haven't played those before. On my pedal board I have a boss delay, wah, super overdrive, noise compressor and the tuner. It's a very basic rig with really one sound. I hate messing with too many tones.

5. I've heard some of the songs from the SINN CD on MySpace. You're a very creative songwriter. Are there any future projects planned for SINN ? My manager is shopping the new SINN cd now. I will have a limited quanity for sale on the road with Britny. Hopefully get a deal with some promotion behind it and hit the road after the Britny tour.

6. I see there's a photo on MySpace of you on stage with American Sugar Bitch. I met Luis and Dave Weakley when they played Landsdale Bike Night in '06. These guys are powerhouse performers. Can you tell me a little about what it was like to play with ASB ? I was a fan of the Teeze record so to be able to work with Dave was pretty cool. We has a great voice and picked up a lot of Luis over the years. Our bass player Matt was also super talented too. He has an amazing voice. I did 2 records with them, played a lot of shows and got burned out. You can only go so long trying to get a deal and have no luck..

7. What's your favorite Britny Fox tune to perform live ?
They had so many great tunes.

Lonely Too Long.

8. Being a musician myself, I know that musicians see a lot of strange things. What's the strangest thing you've seen as a performer ? What's the funniest ? I will have to tell you after the tour. I am sure I will see a lot of nonsense this summer.

9. Is there any possibility that Johnny Dee or Michael Kelly Smith might make a guest appearance at any of the shows ? Who knows? That would be pretty cool though…

10. Is there anything else that you would like to tell us before we conclude this interview ?

Come see us this year and make sure you pick up the Bite Down Hard record before you come….

In conclusion.......
When Tommy Paris joined the band it brought a refreshing new perspective to Britny Fox and in my opinion a creative writer with a lot of raw talent. I somehow suspect that the same thing will happen again with Tommy Krash entering the band. I'm looking forward to hearing the new material, seeing the band play live, meeting the guys in person and of course getting some photos for my web site and magazines. I want to thank Tommy Krash for taking the time to answer a few questions for me and I wish him the best of luck with Britny Fox !  For info about the Britny Fox tour, Go to www.BritnyFox.com
