Nice to see Therapy back with a new album and gigging. Had forgotten that the boys were still around, picked up Troublegum in the trusty 2nd hand cd store the other day, never being a metal fan it just has a great energy to it. A dashboard hitting maelstrom. The Nigel Rolfe pic on the cover is class also, I remember him doing that installation in Dublin in the IMMA (I think), not long before they had the broadcast noise studio in the attic with Negativland.

Some cover versions just shouldn't work - schneider TM's The Light 3000 is one of them - but it does, electronifying The Smith's There is a Light and It Never Goes Out. What surprised me is that this wee 6 piece cd went way beyond what i was expecting. Cracking one for the drive from Fort Worth to Dallas.

I remember seeing Belly playing around 1993 or 1994. Being a male mammal of the formative years, I went head over heals for Tanya Donnelly. Cue twleve years later and I pick up the Sweet Ride Compilation. I'd forgotten how strong and intruiging the vocals were for Star and some of the single b-sides. It's less about a wistful crush now and more about the yearning, sincere beauty in the vocals, which may still sound like a sappy crush, but hey! what ya gonna do).

Picked up a lovely little EP today - CoLAB, one song very much Lambchop with a small smattering of electronica behind it, and three songs getting a serious once over by the Hands Off Cuba lads. Works really well, even though it shouldn't, taking the dreamy sound of lambchop and flavouring it with some lovely beats.

The Silver Apples vocal sound always reminded me of Love's Arthur Lee, especially on tracks like Lovefingers. Picked up the double CD today, really full music considering there was only two of them (well, Taylor did have about 15 drums and Simeon 9 audio oscillators and 86 manual controls)! They were The Chemical Brothers of '68.

Listening to Love's forever changes. Cracking album. I'm not sure how I managed to go through the whole late 60's thing without picking up this CD before. Arthur Lee's voice is just mesmerising, deeper and stranger than most of the day, without ever being forced. Great stuff.

nice to see Dave Couse is out and about again. It's people like Couse that make me miss Dublin, the acerbic wit, the bit of craic, and the ability to tell the world to fuck off in style. You'd never get a character like Couse in Fort Worth - they'd tie him backwards to a horse and send him packing. Whatever happened to the soul of Marty Robbins eh? They never counted on the stranger with the Big Iron his hip.

... loooking forward to picking up his record when i get back to Dublin.

Was always a fan of the Clangers, so the Mouse on Mars naturally jump my rocket ship. Just listening to their collaboration with Mark. E. Smith "Wipe That Sound, Cut The Gain"on their myspace page. Good stuff. Just realised I haven't picked up one of their albums since Vulvaland, which I loved.

Just came across a video knocking around on YouTube for Afgahn Whigs Gentlemen. Having never seen any visuals on the Whigs before, have to say Dulli looks exactly like I always imagined him. Great song, great album.
