If two things can be said after March Madness XI, it’s that the future is definitely upon us, and one man’s “Never Ending Quest for Gold” has only just begun. Controversy started off the week leading into March Madness, as El Cholo and Alcatraz attacked UCW World Heavyweight Champion Alex Cross in the parking lot. This then forced him to retire. Leaving the match vacant, and Ryan Pyles without an opponent! That was rectified a day later, as Hoss Roberts placed Tony Dreamer in the match seeing that he was the last eliminated in the rumble at Thrash N’ Bash!
As for March Madness itself, the show opened with a fast paced matchup that saw newcomer Silver Rey with Adam Blank and Cordell Williams beat Haiku. However, the night was marred with controversy from there on. TJ Walters took to the ring, proclaiming that he was the uncrowned UCW World Heavyweight Champion and that he should be in the main event because he had previously beaten both Ryan Pyles and Tony Dreamer. Walters then took on another newcomer in Jamaican Thunder. Walters took all the punishment the newcomer could deliver; but, Walters still managed to get the victory. He wasn’t done , as he again took the microphone and set down an open challenge to anyone and one answered by the returning KEVIN K! Kevin accepted Walters challenge and then proceeded to beat TJ down! Kevin made one mistake however, and Walters capitalized, pinning Kevin with his foot on the ropes. Also, returning was “The Knockout” Dave Rockwell who was set to face Dark Canada who had JLT at his side. JLT made his presence known towards the end, as The Calgary Kid tried to plead with the referee to turn around from the ring apron, JLT smashed Rockwell with a steel chair! Canada would then go on to hit the Canadian Dry shortly thereafter, winning the matchup! Things got bad for JLT from there though. JLT looked to Canada to do his bidding and continue to beat down Rockwell with the chair; but, Canada refused. The Calgary Kid tried to attack JLT from behind; but, took a headbutt instead. When JLT demanded Canada attack The Calgary Kid he handed Canada the chair, but only moments later he had the chair back in his hands and he was on the receiving end of a Kick to the face with the steel chair! Canada exited the ring and carried The Calgary Kid to the back, while the crowd and JLT sat shocked as to what just happened.
Tony Dreamer was angry to say the least. He instead believed that the belt should just be given to him, considering all of his accomplishments which he said far outweighed Ryan Pyles’. This brought out Hoss Roberts, who rebuffed Dreamer saying he had to earn it by winning the match. There was one thing Hoss needed to get: the UCW World Heavyweight Championship, which was in Larizza’s possession. Sure enough, Larizza had the belt; but, wanted to be closer to the belt, too bad Hoss wasn’t buying it. He then demanded, or he’d fire Larizza on the spot. She instead, went over Hoss’s head by bringing in none other than “The Big Poppa” Scarface. Scarface then proclaimed that he was here to bailout UCW, and in the process he made Larizza the special guest referee for the main event! Hoss fumed, but “The Big Poppa’s” decisions are final… Calling their “match” at Thrash and Bash unofficial. El Cholo returned the UCW International Title to Adam Blank, but told him not to get too close to it. This led into a great match between the two with the title on the line, and when both Alcatraz and Cordell Williams got involved, they were both thrown out, leaving Cholo and Blank alone. The match ended with a great finishing stretch, as Blank rolled out of the way of a 450, which Cholo rolled through to his feet. While Blank had kipped up to his feet, and was charging right into a powerslam! The 450 capped it all off and Cholo walked away from March Madness the new UCW International Champion!
As for the main event, with Larizza in there it was anything but fair for Ryan Pyles. It was almost like it was 2 on 1 with Pyles having to deal with both Dreamer and Larizza. Late into the match, both Pyles and Dreamer cloeslined each other in the center of the ring, and both were down. Panicking, Larizza went to the announce position to retrieve her purse. Veronica Isabella Perez was looking for revenge from what Larizza did to her at Thrash and Bash, and the two got into a fight on the outside with El Cholo and Alcatraz corralling the two and taking them to the back. Then out came TJ Walters, who proceeded to lay out both Pyles and Dreamer. Walters was going to be in the main event one way or another. This however, brought out one last returnee… CAPTAIN CANADA! Canada planted Walters into the mat and hit the Canadian Dry taking him out of the ring, while Pyles hit Dreamer with Larizza’s purse, then a 2nd referee ran down to the ring to count the 3, giving Ryan the win. Now everything points to D-Day 2009, but what could happen between now and then? What will both Tony Dreamer and TJ Walters have to say? What about Captain Canada’s return? We’ll find out on May 1st, as UCW presents D-DAY 2009!
Quick Results: 1. Silver Rey beat Haiku with a wheel barrel victory roll. 2. TJ Walters beat Jamaican Thunder with a Grounded Octopus Hold. 2a. Impromptu Match: TJ Walters beat Kevin K via pinfall. 3. Dark Canada beat Dave Rockwell with the Canadian Dry.. 4. UCW International Title: El Cholo beat Adam Blank(C) with a 450 Splash to become the New Champion. 5. UCW World Heavyweight Title: Ryan Pyles beat Tony Dreamer via pinfall to become the New Champion.

Considering the fact that when T.J. Walters entered UCW he was put to the test by facing some high caliber opponents his rookie experience showed in these matches and lead to some disappointing defeats. Which then led to a losing streak that finally ended at Trail By Fire 2008. After he was embarrassed by at the time referee Bryan Perryman. Walters seemed to recollect his thoughts and when he showed up in September to face Bryan he would not accept defeat. It seemed that after Trial By Fire T.J.'s confidence began to grow. He then threw out a challenge to none other than "The Submission Technician" Ryan Pyles. Walters having two losses already to Ryan was dead set on putting The Submission Technician in his place. After almost twenty minutes of back and forth competitive action Ryan was distracted by Larizza and Alex Cross helped T.J. Get the win. No matter how you look at Walters beat Pyles one, two, three. Coming off of a huge win T.J. directed his attention toward what some would say a mountain that he would never be able to climb. At Thrash N Bash 2009 Walters challenged "UCW Legend" Tony Dreamer. Walters managed to get a roll up and grab the tights out smarting Tony at his own game. To say the least Walters was studying his opponents. Coming up to the biggest show of the year March Madness XI what will T.J. try to accomplish now? His achievements so far have been catching everyone by surprise. Is this a fluke? Or is Walters going to keep out smarting us all?

An eight month-long feud between one of Ultimate Championship Wrestling's greatest competitors ever and most exciting rookie ever culminated in one of UCW's most exciting main events ever with Adam Blank finally gaining a victory over Tony Dreamer and winning his first-ever title gold.
Yeah, nothing much happened at Wrestlestock 2008.
Of course, the crowd going absolutely ballistic during the no-ropes lumberjack match between Dreamer and Blank for the International Championship might disagree with the assessment.
Dreamer and Blank put their bodies on the line in their latest encounter, and the lumberjacks themselves weren't afraid to get into the fray either, which meant eventually referee Josh Jenkins had to eject every single lumberjack from ringside.
But once the dust settled, Blank successfully used his fearsome athletic prowess, running up the side of a ring post to hit the Fill In The Blank to secure the pinfall over Dreamer for the title.
Dreamer and Blank have been battling back and forth with each other since their match at Souled Out 2007. Dreamer expected a cakewalk with the rookie, only to be push to the limit before securing a win.
From then on, it was on. The two went at each other during the Thrash N Bash Rumble. A two-out-of-three falls match for the title at March Madness X, Blank had Dreamer beat for a second pinfall, only to have a time limit expire when the referee reached two. At D-Day, the two interfered in each other's match, causing them to lose their matches. A subsequent brawl that required security caused Board of Directors member Hoss Roberts to call for the no-ropes match. But even after that, when Adam Blank was in the ring against Ryan Pyles during the Back 2 Basics show in June, Dreamer managed to get Blank disqualified.
After the match, Blank was also presented with the first-ever UCW Rookie of the Year award. A big step from the previous year's Wrestlestock, when he was set to have his debut match against El Cholo, only to get absolutely destroyed by a statement-making Alcatraz.
New World Champ, too- It didn't happen the way anyone expected or hoped, but there is a new UCW World Heavyweight Champion- "Supersonic" Alex Cross.
The story begins at the start of Wrestlestock, when the unfortunately announcement was made that T-Roy Thomas had decided to part ways with UCW and as a result was stripped of the gold.
An upset Cross and LaRizza confronted Hoss Roberts backstage, demanding to know why he wasn't named champion. Roberts explained at that point Ryan Pyles had the best case to be world champion because of his victory in the gauntlet match at Back 2 Basics. Subsequent agitation by Cross and LaRizza caused Roberts to make Supersonic an offer – if he could beat an unnamed opponent in a no-holds barred match, he'd make a world championship match that night between him and Pyles.
Low and behold, the mystery opponent was a returning El Cholo, who pointed out Cross as being responsible for a brutal backstage attack at Thrash N Bash that put him on the shelf for six months. El Cholo also brought out his new backup – a familiar face in the monster Alcatraz, unheard from for a year.
Cholo had most of the upper hand on Cross, and hit a 450 splash in the ring and looked to be on the way to victory, than LaRizza got involved, distracting El Cholo while tossing Cross her purse. Supersonic then hit El Cholo with the purse, knocking him silly and getting the win.
Low and behold, the purse had a brick in it.
In the world title match, the fresher Pyles also looked to be on his way for a second world title reign, even managing to kick out of one of Cross' signature maneuvers, the Sonic Boom.
LaRizza once again tried to use the distraction purse-pass move after Cross had pulled referee Josh Jenkins into the path of a charging Pyles, but the always-thinking Submission Technician intercepted the toss, and turned the tables by nailing Cross with the purse. However, while Pyles had Cross pinned, Jenkins was still knocked out.
Enter Tony Dreamer, who drilled Pyles with the International title he still had at the moment. Dreamer then pulled a still-unconscious Cross on top of Pyles, just in time for an awakening referee to count to three.
This is Cross' first reign as world champion, although he has previously held International and Tag Team gold.
Walters vs… Perryman?: TJ Walters learned an important lesson in addition to increasing his losing streak — don't make the refs mad.
TJ had come to the conclusion that UCW referee Brian Perryman was the cause of his consistent defeats, and planned to take out his frustrations on the official should he lose against "Poetry in Motion" Haiku. Of course, earlier in the night, Perryman had talked with Hoss Roberts and gotten permission to do whatever it takes to defend himself in the ring.
Sure enough, Haiku earned the victory, after Perryman counted to three despite missing the fact Walters had managed to get a foot on the rope.
An angry Walters shoved Perryman several times. Perryman responded by clotheslining Walters into next week.
Or, more accurately, Perryman clotheslined Walters into September, because he subsequently quit as a UCW referee and demanded a match with Walters at the upcoming Trial by Fire show.
CK saves the day- Did the Calgary Kid gain any ground in convincing Dark Canada to turn back from the dark influence of JLT and The Asylum?
Not sure, but CK did accompany Dark Canada's opponent, "The Knockout" Dave Rockwell to ringside. And it appeared UCW's resident faithful sidekick had a few tricks up his costume.
After Canada landed a Diving Headbutt on Rockwell, the Kid darted backstage, and brought Ryan Pyles back out with him. He then grabbed a maple leaf-emblazoned steel chair, and swung for the fences to the back of the monstrous Scipha. A follow-up shot to JLT was subsequently blocked, but distractions by CK and Pyles were enough for Rockwell to recover and then hit Canada with the 3-Count Knockout for the win.

For the past two months, the Insider has been doing everything under the sun to figure out what's going on with the UCW Tag Team Championship. In a Readers' Digest version:
1) Previous tag champs were Z-Force, "Supersonic" Alex Cross and "Poetry in Motion" Haiku. 2) Before March Madness, Cross and Haiku have a tiff. Cross and Larizza decide to kick Haiku out of Z-Force. Cross finds out he's in a tag title match. He gives Haiku's share of the title to Scipha, to face Captain Canada and a mystery partner. 3) The mysterious "master" of Scipha's desiring the destruction of Captain Canada turns out to be none other than the manipulative JLT. 4) In a total shock, "The Icon" Stingray comes out to save Canada from a vicious beating at the hands of JLT, Scipha and Cross, at which point he announces he's going to be Canada's partner in the tag title match. Wrestling's Finest is reunited! 5) Stingray hits Scipha with a Shooting Star Press for the 1-2-3. New tag champs! 6) Captain Canada suddently attacks Stingray, revealing he's actually aligned with Scipha and JLT. 7) Canada takes Stingray's belt and gives it back to Scipha – who just lost a belt he never really won to begin with.
Confused yet? Thought so.
But there may be a light at the end of this tag team tunnel. Moments ago, the Insider was provided a letter directly from UCW Board of Directors Member Hoss Roberts.
Rather than explain it to you, the Insider has decided to post the letter in full. It is as follows:
Dear Ultimate Championship Wrestling Fans,
Beyond any doubt, March Madness X was the BIGGEST show in UCW history. Beyond any doubt, March Madness X was the beginning of a new era in UCW itself, the likes of which is going to take this company to new heights. Congratulations are especially in order for our new World Heavyweight Champion, T-Roy Thomas.
Unfortunately, there is one issue out of March Madness that is filled with doubt. That is who can rightfully call themselves the UCW World Tag Team Champions.
Because of events that preceded March Madness, plus the subsequent events following "The Icon" Stingray's pinning of Scipha, there has been some disagreement as to which two wrestlers should be the actual holders of the tag team titles. In fact, as of the time I'm writing this, no less than four of the stars of UCW have laid claim to being a tag team champion.
But I've got some good news for you. The UCW Board of Directors has been deliberating this issue constantly the last two months. After lengthy discussion, we have come to a decision. While this decision may not make anybody involved particularly happy, it is a decision the board feels treats everybody involved fairly. This decision will be announced at D-Day 2008 on Friday.
Because of a prior engagement, our Chairman of the Board, "The Big Poppa" Scarface, will not be at D-Day. That means Hoss will be the boss, and the responsibility for making this important announcement is mine.
This situation has not been easy for anybody. But I will promise you this: When Hoss is the boss, things get taken care of. The tag title issue will be taken care of at D-Day; you can go ahead and thank me later.
See you all on Friday.
Regards, Hoss Roberts

It's a battle fitting to be a main event for March Madness X.
The UCW World Heavyweight Championship match between "Submission Technician" Ryan Pyles and T-Roy Thomas is captivating the public's attention in a way that no other title match has for several years.
"I would say that it's the potential this match has," said UCW analyst Jeff "Big Jigger" Barton. "When you look at what Ryan Pyles and T-Roy Thomas bring to the table, there are numerous directions this match could take. Having a lot of possibilities really grabs the public's attention."
To give you an idea of what this main event of what's already being called the biggest show in UCW history has in store, the Insider is providing this special preview, profiling each wrestler, talking with UCW wrestlers about what Pyles and Thomas bring to the table and analyzing what they will both need to do to come out on top.
RYAN PYLES
Advantages over T-Roy Thomas: Size, In-match intellect, mat wrestling ability, big match experience
Keys to success: He's not called the "Submission Technician," "Innovation of Combination," and "The Thinking Man's Champion" for no reason. It's taken more than pure dumb luck on Ryan's part to remain champion for 10 months. Pyles has a ground game that's unmatched in UCW and has a strong ability to alter his gameplan for success in mid-match.
Pyles needs to look to get Thomas off his feet and, in the words of one UCW wrestler, "start stretching T-Roy out like he's saltwater taffy on the boardwalk."
This could also help out Pyles in that he's the bigger of the two – the champ has a good six inches and 35 to 40 pounds on the challenger. Staying on top of T-Roy with holds will only help to wear him down faster for a finishing Gates of Texas submission or Pylesdriver.
"Ryan could also try out some mind games during the match," another wrestler. "Keep making sure T-Roy knows this is biggest match of his career, that there's more pressure to win on him, that he's not in control of the situation. Eventually, he'll crack."
Things to avoid: If Pyles can't figure out a way to keep T-Roy from flying around the ring, he may be in trouble.
"If T-Roy's able to walk, run, punch, kick, suplex," said another UCW wrestler, "Pyles is toast."
Pyles has a limited number of aerial attacks and would probably be wise to keep them to a minimum. While a respectable striker, T-Roy is a better one and will come out on top if the match dilutes into a street fight.
T-ROY THOMAS
Advantages over Ryan Pyles: Athleticism, striking, throws, energy
Keys to success: "The Baddest Boy From The Bay" is by far the faster and more agile of the two. He's one of the better strikers in UCW, is comfortable attacking an opponent from the top rope, and has some very impressive suplexes.
"It's pretty simple," a UCW wrestler said. "If T-Roy can keep Ryan from getting a grip on him, he can win the match. He has the tools to do it."
T-Roy's better athletic ability might come into play the longer the match goes on.
"Make the bigger guy chase you around and wear himself out," said another wrestler. "That's what Thomas ought to do. Wait it out, then pick Pyles apart."
Things to avoid: Thomas is respected in UCW as a mat wrestler. But he's nowhere near as respected as Ryan Pyles.
Or, as one wrestler put it, "If T-Roy thinks he's going to get Ryan to tap out in this match, he's going to get his clocked cleaned. His palms will be beet-red from slapping the canvas so hard to give up."
Despite the arguments of having better athletic ability, others think a longer match could work against the challenger.
"If I were T-Roy, I'd go for broke at the opening bell," another wrestler said. "I'd hit Ryan with everything I got and try to get out of there with the belt as soon as possible. Because the longer you're in there with Pyles, the odds increase he's going to out-think you and start pulling the match in his favor. Then you're dead meat."
The dispute of who will come out on top in this match, despite all the talk, can only be settled one way. And that's in the ring, Friday night, at March Madness X. You don't want to miss it.

It was a roller coaster of emotions for T-Roy Thomas at Ultimate Championship Wrestling's Thrash N Bash 2008.
First came the lows. Thomas lost his UCW International Championship to Tony Dreamer while sustain some serious damage to his right knee. Then, during the Rumble main, Thomas drew the third entry spot — hardly likable by any stretch of the imagination.
But after the storm passed, the sunshine came. Thomas beat the odds and managed to low-bridge "Supersonic" Alex Cross over the top rope to win the Rumble, setting him on a collision course with World Heavyweight Champion "Submission Technician" Ryan Pyles at the main event of the biggest show in UCW history, March Madness X.
Thomas – and everybody in UCW for that matter – was shocked to see Kevin K, Thomas's former tag-team partner who had been forced into retirement, make an unexpected return late in the Rumble. The two looked like they had never lost a step, as they went about exacting revenge on Cross, whose underhanded tactics had caused Kevin K's retirement back in May at D-Day 2007. But a brief moment of disagreement allowed Cross to eliminate Kevin K, leaving it down to just Supersonic and "The Baddest Boy from the Bay."
Cross' Z-Force counterpart LaRizza decided to get involved and try to make up for an earlier mistake by trying to strike up conversation with Thomas. But Thomas's manager Cordell Williams, eliminated from the Rumble himself, fixed that problem by grabbing LaRizza off the apron and carrying her to the back, allowing Thomas to counter a charging Cross by pulling down the top and sending Cross flying out.
Still the Champ: For his part, Pyles made himself the other half of the March Madness main event by holding onto the World Heavyweight Champioship in a three-way matchup he hadn't been planning on.
The Submission Technician was scheduled to square off against rapidly-rising rookie El Cholo, who had earned the honor by best "The Knockout" Dave Rockwell and Cross in a three-way match at Souled Out 2007. However, a sickening backstage attack left El Cholo unable to wrestle that night. Hoss Roberts, a member of the UCW Board of Directors selected to fill in on administrative duties due to absence of Chairman "The Big Poppa" Scarface, decided to replace El Cholo with the other two members of the three-way match, Rockwell and Cross.
The three men battled back-and-forth until Cross and LaRizza decided to try to use their numbers advantage, which wound up backfiring horribly. As Cross held Pyles, LaRizza attempted one of her trademarked slaps. However, Pyles managed to move out of the way, which caused LaRizza to slap Cross instead, who staggered backwards toward a waiting Rockwell, who delivered what could be considered the most devastating 3 Count Knockout of his championship career.
The always-thinking Pyles took advantage of Cross being 3 Count Knocked Out and Rockwell's preoccupation with Supersonic by rolling up The Knockout to secure the win.
Dreamer has Gold Again: The decision by Roberts to put Cross and Rockwell in title match didn't settle well with everybody.
A clearly upset Tony Dreamer stormed to the ring, arguing that he had never gotten a title match, despite never losing to Pyles back at Trial By Fire 2007 in September. He then mocked the speech patterns of Hoss to try and gouge the director into giving him what he wanted. Roberts obliged to Dreamer's demand of a "title match," but gave him an International Title match against Thomas rather than another chance at Pyles.
Although Dreamer blew off Thomas, referring to the International Championship as a "junior title," a comment by T-Roy for the Hall of Famer to "put his money where his mouth is" gave Dreamer all the motivation he needed, as he rapidly went to work on Thomas, focusing attacks on a right knee that Dreamer got a ringpost shot in on early in the match.
But Thomas held his own, surviving Dreamer's initial onslaught and getting in offense of his own. However, after a missed corner attack caused Thomas to smash the injured knee into a turnbuckle, the legend took advantage of being able to hook his feet on the middle ropes for leverage on a pinfall outside the line of sight of referee Joshua Jenkins.
This is Dreamer's second time as UCW International Champion, his first title reign coming back in 1999. It also marks Dreamer's fifth run with some sort of championship gold in UCW, which puts him two title reigns ahead of his nearest competition, Stingray.
Walters gets into the win column: It took a while, but TJ Walters finally broke into the win column.
After expression his frustration at having to face much more experienced opponents by throwing around chairs and tables backstage, Roberts decided to give Walters a chance to prove he belonged in UCW by booking him against another hard-luck wrestler, The Mark.
Although the Linda native attempted to channel some hardcore, straight-edge energy by adopting the persona of "CM Mark," Walters essentially demolished him, beginning the end by countering an attempted Go To Sleep with a devastating Final Cut, then delivering a kick to the head as a finishing touch.
Canada's got some problems: Hoss Roberts attempted to fix the dilemma Captain Canada was facing by signing the mysterious man who had brutally attacked Canada at the end of Souled Out to a UCW contract. But it may have just made things worse.
Roberts gave Canada his opportunity for revenge by putting the newly-signed Scipha in a match against the superhero to start the event off. And it looked as though Canada got his revenge, but countering a choke hold into a surprise pinfall to get the win.
Scipha had other plans, though, as he once again went after a wounded Canada after the bell, delivering another sitout chokeslam and even going after the Calgary Kid with a big boot to the face.
Later on, Scipha claimed he was in UCW to complete a "mission" to end Captain Canada's career. If Scipha is working on his own still remains unclear.
