ABOUT THE WALK
This is our third annual Comic-Con Zombiewalk! We do hold other walks throughout the year (if you didn't already know), but this seems to be the most one that gets the most attention (at least if we're going by how many videos & photographs are out in the ether). We'd like this year to be extra awesome, especially since zombie popularity is on the rise!
* We will be meeting at the corner of 4th & Broadway at 7:30PM. Please be on time, because we cannot wait more than a few minutes until we leave. Zombies will be briefed on the walk guidelines before we embark on the walk and then we'll head out shortly after 7:30PM.
* There is ample lot parking in the vicinity, but make sure to arrive in the area early enough to find a spot. You may run into traffic downtown. Please do NOT park at Horton Plaza, as you will more than likely be escorted off property by security (this has happened to several zombies at the last 3 walks downtown - not to mention Horton overcharges).
* If you are traveling by public transit, our meeting point is a short walk from the Civic Center Station (Orange & Blue Lines). There are also several bus stops within a block of the meeting point. Amtrak is also a fairly quick walk (about 6 short blocks), for those that may be commuting from outside San Diego.
* The walk route will be between 1 and 2 miles long. It is not pre-planned, but we have a general idea of where we will be headed. You are welcome to bow out of the walk at any time, if you find it to be too long for you, but we ask that you please act in a respectful manner to the general public while the walk is still going on :)
* This is an ALL-AGES walk. As always, this is a family event. We always welcome children and non-adults. As long as you're undead and willing to lurch with us, you are welcome to join!
* If you ARE under 18, please try to bring a parent/guardian with you - or at least make sure that your parents know where you are and what you're doing.
* Please bring picture identification, just in case we have to prove that we're not actually undead. Don't want any live burials... that would kinda suck... and you'll need it if you want to drink afterward.
* We will be UNABLE to help with makeup... SHOW UP IN COSTUME AND MAKEUP. We have a short time between meeting and walking, so be prepared to go!
* If you need zombie makeup, go to Gypsy Treasure, in La Mesa, and mention the walk. They love us there and will hook you up! :D
* In the near future, we will be posting a list of suggested makeup/costume items you may want to obtain and experiment with, before the walk. You can order through Gypsy Treasure's website or anywhere you can find the items. Stay tuned!
WALK GUIDELINES
We know this sounds like a bunch of buzzkill rules, but we're looking out for YOUR best interests and the best interests of the group in general. We want to continue holding walks - because they're FUN! - so these are the guidelines that we ask be followed. The walks have had the same guidelines since we started in San Diego and they are very similar to the guidelines of walks held around the world... we're not being fascist, we promise! * We ask that you NOT drink before the walk, due to drunk-in-public laws. Also, please follow all regular laws of the City of San Diego and State of California, as well as our standard zombiewalk guidelines. If you show up under the influence, you'll be asked to leave immediately. We ask this for your safety and the safety of others. Please leave alcohol and any other substances elsewhere - they have no place at the walk (what you do after the walk is your own business).* Please maintain a level of common courtesy to refrain from giving the public a negative image of the group. * NO WEAPONS WHATSOEVER. No fake ones, no real ones, no imaginary invisible ones. You will be asked to put them back in your car or get rid of them. Zombies do not carry weapons anyway! * No PA systems, stereos, boomboxes, megaphones, etc. This would be against the law. * Please do NOT bring extra blood or supplies with you. If you make a mess, you are legally responsible for it and you will give the walk a bad reputation - not cool. * Keep your blood ON YOUR CLOTHING AND BODY, if you intentionally or unintentionally leave it somewhere else, it can be considered vandalism. You don't want that ticket. * Zombies shuffle and lurch slowly. Zombies don't have/use cell phones. Zombies don't talk or scream or shriek or howl - they moan or grunt. That's it. * Don't approach or touch anyone not associated with the walk. Keep your hands and feet inside the vehic... keep 'em to yourself and out of people's faces (do not to reach out at members of the public as we pass them... this is legally considered threatening behavior). * Please - for your sake and ours - do NOT lean over barriers/fences, do NOT enter shops, stay out of Horton Plaza (they will make you leave anyway), do NOT lean into doorways/entryways, do NOT pound on/touch windows. These are all borderline illegal behaviors. If law enforcement sees you doing it, they may ticket or arrest you. If they don't see you, retailers and restaraunteurs may lobby to ban zombiewalks because you're annoying them and their customers. So PLEASE just don't do it. * OBEY ALL TRAFFIC LAWS & SIGNS! Do not block foot or auto traffic! Again, tickets suck! * Pictures & Video... As long as you don't stop our group at any time and don't get in our way or block the flow of regular foot/vehicle traffic, you are welcome to take pictures & video. And for participants... by participating in the walk, you acknowledge that you are aware that face and/or likeness will be posted all over the internets and elsewhere and that you're cool with it. If you or anyone you know does take pictures or video, please contact us afterward, so that we can post it here! Zombies love to see themselves in action.

Current mood: sad
In the wake of today's tragic passing of Michael Jackson, we would like to get a group of zombies together to perform the Thriller choreography that we all learned for Thrill The World, in October 2007 and many learned last year, as well.
If you participated in either of those events, know the choreography, or are willing to learn it by Comic-Con (see videos at the link below), we ask that you please contact us ASAP, so that we can put this together. It's only fitting, given the circumstances.
And early next week, we will be giving you the walk date and some other event details, for the Comic-Con zombiewalk. Stay tuned.
And RIP Michael... you were our favorite zombie... and we say that in all seriousness. This year's Comic-Con walk and dance will be for you.
Check out http://www.thrilltheworld.com/learn/videos for step-by-step instructions on how to do the dance. If you are interested in learning it, please start practicing! And please drop us a line to let us know that you're participating, so that we can give you the date and time, once we have it for sure (it will be set in stone this weekend - walk date/time will be released next week). Thank you!
And please please please repost this on your blogs & bulletins!
WALK TIME & DATE WILL BE ANNOUNCED NEXT WEEK

Zombie Holiday Kickball:
Team Zombie Santa versus Team Grinch ZombiesZombie Santa's team being comprised of those who dress as holiday-themed zombies and the Zombie Grinches being regular zombies. We will provide pom-pons to zombie cheerleaders. We also need zombies to sit in the stands and randomly wander around the field. Living fans are also be welcomed to attend! The kickball game will be held on Saturday, December 1st @ 1PM. The location will be Ocean Beach Elementary School's baseball field, on the corner of Newport Avenue & Ebers Street.Parking is available along any of the streets around the school and there are two San Diego MTS bus routes that are near the school (and which run on Saturdays) - route 35 and route 923. The stops are about two short blocks away from the school's field, so it will be very easy to get to, if you choose to do the green thing (or just don't have a ride). We will be collecting toys to donate to kids for the holidays (and it will be a lot easier to do so if we're in one static location - and that way, people who are not zombies can also donate and stay to enjoy the kickball game). We are asking everyone to bring sports-related toys and/or kids' art supplies, so that we can encourage kids to be physically active and creatively express themselves. Of course, any new and unwrapped toys are acceptable! All participants in the kickball game will receive Zombiewalk '08 Holiday Ornaments at the game. If you want to participate or plan to attend, please comment! Let us know if you want to play kickball (and for which team), be a cheerleader, or just attend as a zombie (or even just as a spectator). Please copy and paste the text at the bottom of this entry to bulletins, blogs, messages, emails, etc. to spread the word. We need as many zombies as we can get! Post anywhere and everywhere. Tell your friends to join us for what should be a really fun undead event! Thanks, ZombieWalk:SanDiego SPREAD THE WORD!NOTE: Alcohol, tobacco, and drugs are prohibited in and around the ball field, as it is a school site. Please do NOT bring these items with you, as you will be asked to leave immediately and will NOT be welcome to participate in future events. Also, weapons of any kind - even fake ones - are not allowed. We don't like saying no, don't, etc. but it's for your safety and the safety of others. We also want to avoid you getting a ticket and/or being arrested. There's a time and a place for everything - zombie events are not the place for alcohol, tobacco, drugs, or weapons. And please remember, we do not have a permit for stereos or megaphones and we need to clean up after ourselves. Thank you!

Want to get the word out about the walk? Hang up a few signs around school, work, your favorite coffeeshop or boardshop! Going to the library anytime soon? Take a couple signs with you! Going to a show this weekend or next week? Print out a bunch of flyers and hand 'em out! Hitting up the mall? Take flyers and signs with you! The more zombies we get to show up, the more food will get donated, the more fun the walk & show will both be, and everything will be a total success! Print the SignPrint the FlyersThese are meant to be printed on 8.5x11 paper (standard printer paper), with the borderless option (if you have it). If you use bright paper, the signs and flyers will stand out more! We use ultralime/neon green, but whatever you have or can get is fine. Getting the word out is the most important part! Thank you!!!

I'll be posting these in our blog soon, but I just wanted to let you guys in on the details that we do have for the time being... WHAT: Second Annual Comic-Con Zombie Walk! WHEN: Saturday, July 26th, 2008 There a few options for time... and we'll be leaving it up to you guys to decide... 1. Mid-morning: If we start the walk mid-morning (around 10:30 or 11am), there will be more parking available, most people will just be arriving for the convention, so we'll be the first thing they see as they're walking from their cars to the convention center, and we'll be able to get lunch afterward. 2. Early afternoon: If we start the walk in the early afternoon (around 1 or 2PM), parking will be very limited, so public transportation will be encouraged for those of you not attending the convention already. It will be sunny & hot outside, but there will be TONS of convention-goers grabbing lunch around this time, so we'll have tons of exposure... and we can grab a late lunch afterward. 3. Late afternoon: If we start the walk in the late afternoon (around 4PM), parking will still be a bit of a hassle, we'll have limited exposure (most people will be in the premium programming at the convention during this time), and it's probably the worst time to start. It's just an option that's here for posterity. 4. Early evening: If we start the walk around 6PM, parking will be a bit better, as many people with kids will have left for the day by this point, people will be starting to leave the convention for the day (programming stops at 7PM) and will be streaming out of the Convention Center towards us (which was AWESOME last year), a lot of people will be having early dinner at the restaurants along 5th Avenue... and the best part... we can do a zombie pub crawl afterward (for those of us who are over 21)!!! There are tons of bars along the Gaslamp and I really doubt they're going to turn away people in costume during Comic-Con ;) So... when would YOU rather the walk start? Vote. Get your friends to vote. Get your family to vote. Get your dog to vote. We don't care... JUST VOTE! :D WHERE: Meet at the corner of Broadway & 4th Avenue. This is near Horton Plaza. So if you're just looking to do the walk and are not attending Comic-Con, you'll be able to park at Horton Plaza and then leave easily. The walk-route is already planned out. The route will allow for maximum public exposure during the entire route, this time around, but will be about the same length. As mentioned, we'll be meeting near Horton Plaza... the walk will travel through the Gaslamp District, heading towards the Convention Center, turning around at the Convention Center and heading back up through the Gaslamp. HOW: These details will be updated soon.
