Just got the word...Saunter will be on XM Radio a few times this week.  Tune into XMU - Channel 43.  They'll be spinning "I Know Everything" on The RADAR Report, which selects the best unsigned acts and gives them some airtime.  We're thrilled..

Saturday 12/8 - 6AM (for the UK folks)

SaunterNation...stand up and be proud.  Your support has helped us keep going all these years, and now we're rewarding you with the most badass show ever.

This Saturday is the CD release show at
The Pour House Music Hall in downtown Raleigh.  All attendees get a copy of "Bustin' Loose" as well as a Saunter beer koozie.  I'm not kidding.  This show is not to be missed!  New wardrobes, new choreography, new songs.

We'll be on

September 19, 2007 - Wednesday

So I'm totally stoked.  Not only that we're releasing the sweetest album ever to be released in Raleigh, NC, but we just found out today we've been selected as a Featured Artist for ReverbNation.com.  They provide tons of great exposure to completely unknown bands like us, and any promotion we can get for "Bustin' Loose" is always superb.

Tune in 9/23 & 9/30 to 96Rock at 9PM to hear the interviews, 10/5 to 88.1 for another promo spot at 7PM, then the mega show on Saturday October 6th at The Pour House Music Hall.

See us on ReverbNation here: www.reverbnation.com

Yes!  The time has finally come...the CD release for the new album is on the books.  After 5 months of recording, bitter in-fighting, designing, pondering, etc...we've booked the show.

Saturday October 6th - The Pour House Music Hall - one of Raleigh's best venues, hands down.  Saunter Nation, bring your best friends.

Each paid admission gets a copy of the new album, which is known as "Bustin' Loose".  You can see the cover art in our MySpace studio session photo album.  Some of the album names that got nixed, just for fun...

The album artwork is finished and we're reaching the final stages, putting the CD release in early October.  Check out the artist here:  www.bigworldphoto.com
August 3, 2007 - Friday

We, Saunter, just finished mastering the new album.  What does that mean?  I didn't even know even though we've done it on our last 2 albums.  Now I can share!

I rolled over to The Kitchen Studios in Carrboro, NC.  We went through each track one by one while Brent, the head engineer, tweaked and tuned a variety of knobs, dials, framastatts, blatchsmelters, rods, and reels.  It was crazy to watch him work as you could see years of experience being channeled through his fingertips, back thru the speakers, and up into his ears.  It's definitely a true blend of science and art.

So what did he do?  I still don't know, but the tracks sound polished and fit for public consumption.  I guess...it's easy to hear when a band's CD sounds like it was recorded in a basement, but you can't exactly put your finger on what makes it sound that way.  Recording it right from the start with a good producer is key (Thanks, Mr. Custer!), and then having an expert polish it up (Thanks, Brent!) gives it that undeniably professional sound.  No matter how hard you try, you can't polish a turd.  YOU WILL ENJOY THIS ALBUM!   You have no choice.

CD Release Party should be coming up soon, and keep your ears peeled to 96Rock.  Oh yeah.

July 24, 2007 - Tuesday

Current mood:  refreshed
Well...we should be completely finished with the mixdown of the album.  Paul and Brian got into a huge catfight over the banana being too loud in the mix (see the studio pics here on MySpace), and Cameron just went to his corner and weeped.  Fortunately John & I are skilled negotiators.  Peace has been restored to Saunter and we move forward with cautious optimism.

Realistically we'll be looking at another month or so before we have the finished product in our hands...it just takes a long time.  Unless your Paul McCartney or Toby Keith and need to put out a 9/11 song.  Saunter doesn't have those connections, but should we?  I mean...just because you can put out bad music doesn't mean you should.  Damn.  Following that logic we'll never release this new album.

Stay tuned, Saunter faithful, casual observers, and concientious objectors.  The best album, ever, is on its way...

Wow.   All 6 tracks have made it through the first big initial phase:  recording.  Saunter's musical contribution is complete.  We now move into the mixdown phase where you start tweaking all the little knobs to make it sound extra tasty.  That's happening tonight, tonight, tonight...oh ohhhhhh.  Gonna make it right, tonight, tonight, tonight...oh ohhhh (Phil Collins anyone?)
..

Now on to the real studio pics...this puppies are on fire and are from our vocal recording session.  See if you can find Paul's banana...

June 21, 2007 - Thursday

You know, if you play your own music, you better damn well like it.  Fortunately, these 6 new tunes are sounding absolutely incredible.  As a song writer you know in your head the vibe, mood, atmosphere a song should convey the moment you've had the creative inspiration to start writing it.  Unfortunately it requires months if not years to make that sound in your head turn into something tangible that's worth listening to.  Dedication, people.  You don't earn the title "longest running unknown local Raleigh band" without trying.

I digress...

Monday and Tuesday we dropped down the bass, drums, guitar, keys, organ, and sax at Custer Recording Studios in downtown Raleigh, NC.  Clean, crisp, quick, brilliant.  Two takes tops for each tune.  That's how we roll.  The short term result is that this junk is sounding good.  Real good.  The long term result: our dream of opening up for Nickleback will finally come true.  This album is so good it will have to happen.  Hah.  Actually...you will love it...guaranteed.

A few pics from the process, including me ordering drive-thru on foot at the fast food joint next to the studio:  Click here, fool.

Also just uploaded a bunch of new pics from recent shows here.

Yours forever and truly with love and peace until next time,
M
