i like this very much

Night Shift

You’re sleeping with your back to me tonight.
I reach around. Still sleeping you say:Later.

Down at the lily pond the amorous frogs
are singing through the darkness for a mate.

I doze till morning when the rising sun
nudges your promise as you turn to me.

A deer moves passed our window; cherry blossom
decorates her mouth moistened by dew.

We lie together.The deer tip-toes away.
We disengage. I leave to make you coffee.

The birds and the bees are busy finding food
their music gentle; in bed we watch the news.

A suicide bomber kills himself in error:
the president kills, again and again, to plan.

Britney enters re-hab once again.
The poppies flourish in Afganistan.

A boy steps on a mine when fetching water.
His blood and bone colour the desert soil.

A Nigerian girl is stoned to death for love;
her villagers starve as rich men steal their oil.

My love and I are warm beneath the quilt;
with fair trade coffee to assuage our guilt.

hello, so we just recorded half our new album and am really happy with how it sounding : )
decided to record without the use of headphones as i wanted to see how this affected the way we play together in the studio - my idea was that this would increase our sensitivity in this situation and make it more like we play live
really sounds like how i imagined but everyone taking the music i write to places i couldn't have imagined
is a happy time

hope you will enjoy when we finished

and hope you have an amazing christmas and new year if i don't see you

enjoy the cold fresh days

this is a poem written by my dad(gerard rochford) about bach(whom he loves very much) and wanted to share

Diary of a god

(for J.S.Bach)

The winter was mild. Fewer deaths

mean fewer funerals and my income fades.

Spring however promises commissions;

Easter, Ascension Thursday, Whitsun weddings.

The dry summer raises the price of potatoes.

Another baby coming.

Monday rule the paper, draft the score.

Tuesday write the cantata. Wednesday

copy the parts for orchestra and chorus,

half of whom can't read. Thursday copying.

Friday - copying. Saturday one rehearsal.

Sunday Mass goes well. Anna says: Tomorrow

the baby will come. She knows. Later she sings to me.

Monday rule the sheets and walk to market,

haggle for potatoes. Home to a host of midwives.

My children surround the crib and we are happy.

Tuesday, Anna cooks dinner. Angels praise God in my head.
