04th February 2007   Sunrise Avenue @Knust / Hamburg

Support: Ian O'Brien-Docker

First I have to say thank you so much to Jelly that she has asked me for going there with her. Thanks hun! It was so much fun with you!

It was such a sunny day last Sunday when I got of to pick up Jelly from Bremen to drive to Hamburg for seeing the Finnish band Sunrise Avenue.

Location: the Knust. I already knew it from the Entwine/Zeraphine gig last november (-> check out my blog Finn-Power) and I like it a lot cos it's a small and comfortable location.

Both a little shaky we did the long way to Hamburg while listening to Sunrise Ave's album "On The Way To Wonderland".
When we arrived at the Knust at around 5pm we wondered that there was noone there. We really expected a lot of crazy fans would already be there...hehe. But only a few girls hung around there. Quite unusual!

But the more handball watching people were there. Yeah...and Germany is World Champion! Congratulations!

More and more excited to see the guys within only short time we patiently waited for the opening at 8pm. We met some other girls there we talked to. So waiting seemed to be quite short. And finally they opened the doors and we could get in. And yes..we made it to row one! Great! Again waiting...

At 9pm finally the support act Ian O'Brien-Docker entered the stage and played about half an hour. Yes, I liked it somehow. He is a very talented guy and if he could play all instruments at the same time he even didn't need a band

Break for changing the setting.

Quite punctually at 10pm Sunrise Ave conquered the stage. Yeah!
They did a fantsatic show. Much better than I have expected to be honest. They played all the songs of their album - brave guys. In between Samu told some strange stories!  He is funny, really - all of them! And Sami, nice one, did a drum solo. I so love drum solos! I didn't count how often Jukka bowed to him!
It was not to miss how much fun they all had and how they caught the audience. The last song they played was 'Way to Wonderland', one of my faves from the album.

And of course they did an extra. But I totally lost my believing when they started playing the chorus of 'looking for Freedom' (David Hasselhoff)...maybe the older ones of you still remember that horrible song!  Luckily they really only played the chorus and went on with the last song of their own - 'Nasty'.

When the show was over we went out to catch some autographs and pictures. First we found Ian. He is a nice guy and patiently took pics with us and signed poster...hehe.
And then we turned to the bus of Sunrise Ave and waited there for them..hihi. Yeah, a bit groupie-behaviour has to be  It was worth it cos we met them and took some pics as well before they had to go.

Totally down but excited and extremely hungry we went to the american restaurant^^ at the station and then turned back home...

The end of a sunny, exciting, rocking - just fantastic day!
