I wrote this song to ask the question why the fuck is our world so fucking fucked the fuck up? This world can be a paradise if we want it to be....

Relentless Fixation - Shaolin Temple of BooM

"A dark star" is a song I wrote that is perfect for when you are battered and torn and just want to hear something that soothes the soul, drink a cup of warm tea or whatever makes you feel good and listen to this song. I wrote it and recorded it with a lot of love behind it so I hope it reaches out to you. "A dark star" on iTunes http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/a-dark-star-burning-in-dead-night/id334718912?i=334718962&uo=6 on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Dark-Star-Burning-Dead-Night/dp/B002RREJW4

here is an example of what was just sent.............

After much struggle (And believe me there is still so much struggle involved with this) Shaolin Temple of BooM is entering a phase that took quite a while to reach.  At this point what I would like to do is use this email newsletter as a direct communication between you and me, where as in the past it was used to either win a contest or get a song on radio, with your help, SToB clawed it's way to where it currently is, at this point I want to use each and every email as a way to communicate directly to you on a deeper level, that level is of the human experience, of art, of music, of connection, more than us being numbers, because we are all in this together. "The Equinox" is a new EP that is pretty close to completion and consists of the following songs

1. After the Fall
2. A random series of events
3. Relentless Fixation
4. Last Day of the Sun
5. I would destroy
6. The Equinox
7. Always, Everything

5 songs are done and 2 more are on the way in the next few weeks...actually "Last Day of the Sun" and "Always, Everything" are technically done all that is needed is to mix and master them.  I'm waiting on the finances to be there from sales, deals and so forth, to continue on. Speaking of "Last Day of the Sun" I recently visited the La Brea tarpits to take a look at some bones of creatures long gone, they must have been beautiful, especially this one

Old smiley here had very weak teeth and died off even though he was the most powerful cat to have ever lived, too bad he had fragile front teeth and the weather changed to cut off his food supply.  At any rate this picture I took will eventually become the cover for the digital single "Last Day of the Sun" which should be released in the next few weeks.  I asked June if he can isolate the skull and place it in a white background, it should be interesting to see what June creates.   June, is a very talented artist aside from being the low end master you can check out his work here www.shaolintempleofboom.com/junekatoart As long as we are visiting a pic I took on a day off from being a one man record label, I might as well show some more...Here are a bunch of American Wolves. (Now extinct)

This guy needs no introduction. Some sort of elephant (just kidding) it's David (me) haha just kidding again, It's a MAMMOTH, which would've been a cool name for a 70s stoner rock band.

After a long day of looking at the bones of extinct mammals I was hungry as hell  so what better than some sushi

Did I say I was very hungry?

Sushi is sort of like a spiritual food for me, it's a work of art, too bad we have to eat it. Something about sushi makes me happy, it's just f*cking delicious.
I get a lot  questions from people asking me about the band name etc etc....there is a lot of confustion associated with it which I am sure the Smashing Pumpkins and Pink Floyd must have gottten as well back in the days so I decided to write a blog about it here (Or at least on facebook it's called a note) www.facebook.com/notes/shaolin-temple-of-boom/origin-of-the-name-shaolin-temple-of-boom/182171871876
Also this company called bandcamp has introduced a way for bands to couple their music with merch or anything really so I decided to sell the "I would destroy" shirt (Inspired by the song) for $10, what is cool is once you purchase you can DOWNLOAD FREE MUSIC IMMEDIATELY off of "the Equinox" EP, 5 songs to be precise, but what's really cool is you can choose the format you want to download the songs in, Apple lossless, Flac or the highest form of MP3.You can find that here shaolintempleofboom.bandcamp.com/album/the-equinox  Pretty cool shirt, and it's LIMITED EDITION which means once they are gone they are gone....

If you prefer iTunes the first 5 songs off of "The Equinox" Ep can be found here itunes.apple.com/us/artist/shaolin-temple-boom/id183441715 or on Amazon here www.amazon.com/s/qid=1258682738/ref=sr_shvl_1-all Last but not least, these emails will from now on contain EXCLUSIVE content in the form of photos and videos of SToB rehearsing, playing a show or whatever....so I hope you join me each and everytime I send one out from now on....Looking forward to the next one

Till then...

Your comrade in music

First off I want to say this video below cracked me the hell up but while I was laughing something occurred to me. If you can make someone sound like he is singing when all he is doing is talking like in this video you wonder about the possibilities of the future of "auto-tune" technology. Before 5 years ago you had to have at least some sort of musical ability to create music, granted technology was almost always there to help but at it's core you still needed some sort of musical ability to sing, or play an instrument. Today, all you need is auto-tune and midi and your average run of the mill jock or person who has no musical ability whatsoever can create music and pass himself off as a "musician".

A lot of people don't see the harm in that but I do, because what it does is devalue the very state of music itself. Music is no longer an artform, for the most part, especially in the mainstream.

Music is dead in the mainstream and the future seems a lot worse unless we wake up and realize that music is art. What makes music special is the ability of certain people to create it without the help of computers, sadly the future sees technology hiding it so much no one will be able to know whether someone can sing or play or not. Technology will be so advanced that in live situations,  more than likely, "perfection" will be controlled by technology as well.

If this were to happen. Music would have zero value and at that point in time music will be dead.
