KNOWLEDGE MAGAZINE (October 2009):

In other Shroombab news look out for The Red Series Pt. 1 on her High Tension Digital
label. "High Tension Digital delivers what you need to survive in the
electronic data flow: from breakbeat to dubstep / grime to drum &
bass and other electronica - there are no strict style borders," says
Shroombab. "The Red Series Pt. 1 covers breakbeat, electro and fidget
house and features artists from Austria, showing the quality and high
potential of artists within the electronic music scene here."

FIDGET HOUSE MUSIC BLOG from EMBEE (October 2009):

Ein sehr nettes Lied in meiner Inbox beweist, dass die Wiener nicht nur
gute Würstchen machen können, sondern auch Musik. Die Rede ist von
Shroombab - The Base (Bazuco Remix), was eins von 3 Liedern der The Red

Release Date: 28.10.2009

The Base (Bazuco Remix)

The Base (Ravissa's Mosquito Remix)

The Red Series Pt. 1: Breakbeat, Electro, Fidget

After a hot start in autumn 2009, High Tension Digital quickly continues with
another bangin’ release: The Red Series, covering the genres Breakbeat,
Electro and Fidget House. The release striclty features artists from
Austria, showing the quality and high potential of artists within the
electronic music scene. “The Base” by label-owner Shroombab is starting
with some nice bells and stompin’ beats, but the real party starts when
the deep sub-bassline drops in. “Are you ready?”, asks a voice and
invites you to the dancefloor.

This flavour continues within the remix of Bazuco, a young Austrian
producer that devotes all his energy to the new genre fidget house.
Bazuco’s version of “The Base” has everything what a classy fidget tune
should have: snatched vocal snippets, pitch-bent basslines, rave-style
synth stabs over straight, banging and glitchy beats. You won’t resist
dancing to this stomper!

The second remix is provided by Ravissa, a female Austrian DJ &
producer that has devoted her life the the Vienniese clubscene for more
than ten years. Her “Mosquito Remix” combines her own different
influences of the electronic music scene with a strong affiliation to
techno. The 4/4 beats are dominated by a strong kick and are
complemented by a fithly synth that is heavily modulated and never
stays the same. If you like techno, you will move your ass to this!

About the artists:

SHROOMBAB

Shroombab is a fixed institution of Austrias drum&bass-scene and
was recently labeled as "First Lady of Breakbeat" by the Austrian
weekly print magazine "Falter". She was born in Upper Austria and
moved to Vienna in 1997 where she started to change her instruments
from flute & guitar to turntables & sequencers. Successfully: Gigs in
over 28 countries of the world and several record releases on more
than 10 quality labels followed.

Shroombabs efforts to create her own music and get perfect at
spinning records were strong. But not enough, she combined
creativity with her talent to organize things: She set up her own
Drum&Bass nights called Bass Land (with MC Terra), her own
label High Tension Recordings and founded the Junglistic Sistaz,
a database for women in drum&bass, which got a quality reference
for female DJs especially in Eastern Europe.

2009 - 11 years after her start - she still delivers the same
quality as ever. Watch out for uplifting, spooky and moving
DJ-Sets and strong tunes besides genre-boarders.

BAZUCO

Coming up from Vienna, Bazuco offers a wide range of
electronic beats. In 2004 he started producing hard edged
Drum&Bass under the alias "Syneptic". After playing plenty
gigs and supporting acts like Evol Intent and releasing some
tunes on mp3 labels he felt the need to step forward.  Always
influenced by Techno, Minimal, Electro and Dubstep he started
producing a mixture of everything packed in 130 bpm
and this is what you get.

RAVISSA

Ravissa, founder of the netlabel Doorbitch.nu, event promoter
of the famous"Addiction" nights in Vienna, producer and DJ is not
quiet a raw recruit to Austrias electronic music scene. Her musical
roots are affected by Techno & House and she already has more
than 10 years DJing experience. Over the years her style has
changed to the more breaky side of music and she has become
one of the leading representatives of Fidget House, Jackin Electro
and UK Garage-Dubstep in Austria.

The Blue Series Pt.1: Drum&Bass

Right in time for a sizzlin.. 2009 autumn High Tension Digital brings the next audio session to you: the Blue Series, covering Drum&Bass. "Monster Dub" by Shroombab unites oldskool drum&bass vibes with current dub influences. Strong rollin' beats and a raw bassline make your ass follow.

Anyways, the true favorites of this release are two remixes by German producer Polarity and his Austrian counterpart PsychoFX. They both got busy with Shroombabs "Hidden Faces". And both remixes will kick the shit out of your speakers.

Polarity, who already worked with Shroombab on their first vinyl release for High Tension in 2002, still delivers quality beats. He recently released his own album "Syntax". The Polarity Epos remix starts with an epic melody, developing to a true neuro-dnb stomper in the middle part. Distorted noise fx call, over-compressed beats respond - and vice versa.

PsychoFX plays with the melodic parts of the original tune as well, but pushes them towards a new, different dimension. The main part with its heavy bassline drops heavily after a minimal intro, featuring fat synths and melodic arrangements in between. This is our second prank at double speed - be prepared!!
