BRAND NEW – JESUS CHRIST

Brand New will be going on a Canadian tour in May, including an all-ages show in Vancouver at the Croatian Cultural Centre on May 10th.

They put out an album a while ago called "The Devil And God Are Raging Inside Me". This is a good song to sit by yourself and cry to. It's nice and slow and full of all those classic emo lyrics that the MySpace-loving kids will thoroughly enjoy.

KAISER CHIEFS – RUBY

This is a very catchy song. I'm not sure if anyone doesn't like this song. It's from their new CD "Yours Truly, Angry Mob". The CD comes in a fancy hardcover book and this is the first single. We gave it away as a New Music Monday, and we've also got some to give away through ZoneMail.

They're playing at Coachella on the same day as Rage Against The Machine.

INCUBUS – DIG

Incubus just had to cancel a bunch of their European and South American shows because guitarist Mike Einziger has an injured hand. He'll be out of action for 8-12 weeks, meaning Zone Show #125 will be their first show back.

Dig is the second single from "Light Grenades". For the video, they let fans create their own videos and picked a winner. A bunch of them are on the contest page www.idigincubus.com for your viewing pleasure.

There has been a small outbreak of "zombism" in a small town near the border of Laos in North-Eastern Cambodia.
The culprit was discovered to be mosquitoes native to that region carrying a new strain of Malaria which thus far has a 100 percent mortality rate and kills victims in fewer than 2 days.

After death, this parasite is able to restart the heart of its victim for up to two hours after the initial demise of the person where the individual behaves in extremely violent ways from what is believed to be a combination of brain damage and a chemical released into blood during "resurrection."

Cambodian officials say that the outbreak has been contained and the public has no need to worry.

General Ary Serey had this to say, "We have obtained samples of this new parasite and plan to learn how it starts the heart and other major organs of the deceased. We intend to use this to increase the quality of life for all."

US Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice opposed the plan saying that the Cambodian government holds a great biological weapon and should destroy it immediately. Cambodian officials have yet to comment.

A United Nations team will be dispatched to Cambodia to confirm the safety of biological research in Cambodia.

March 21st is NELLY FURTADO DAY in Victoria, B.C.!!!!

VICTORIA, BC — The City of Victoria is proud to proclaim Wednesday, March 21 as Nelly Furtado Day. "We are thrilled to welcome home Victoria's own Nelly Furtado!" said Mayor Lowe in making the announcement. "While Nelly has reached the apex of international music stardom, she continues to enjoy a special relationship with Victoria and has maintained close ties to this community. We all take great pride in her accomplishments and in claiming her as one of our own," he added.

In recognition of her tremendous achievements, the City will be officially proclaiming March 21 as Nelly Furtado Day. This day corresponds with the opening date of the Canadian leg of her World tour in support of her latest multi-platinum album "Loose." All local fans are invited to attend the official ceremony in Centennial Square at 12:00 pm, where Mayor Lowe will present Nelly Furtado with an official proclamation and gift on behalf of the citizens of Victoria. Mayor Lowe will be joined by Saanich Mayor Frank Leonard in making the presentation.

Mayor Lowe would like to invite all friends and fans to attend this public event and to join him in personally honouring one of Victoria's most celebrated music ambassadors.

BILLY TALENT – SURRENDER –

The band named after a character from the movie "Hard Core Logo" are up for 5 Juno Awards this year including... Single of the year (for "Devil in a Midnight Mass") and Album of the year ("Billy Talent II"). The Juno's happen April first in Saskatoon.

They will also be in Vancouver for The "V" Fest in Vancouver (Sunday, May 20th Monday, May 21, 2007)

Along with: My Chemical Romance, Rise Against and more.

SOCIAL CODE – BOMB HANDS –

Who doesn't love a working band. And these cats work. I can't remember a time when Social code wasn't on tour, although they don't have any Victoria dates for the next few months I'm sure they'll be through town this summer.

This is the first song from Social Code's new self-titled album in stores May 8, 2007

ARCTIC MONKEYS – BRIANSTORM –

Remember them?

Arctic Monkeys achieved chart success with their first two singles, "I Bet You Look Good On The Dance Floor" and "When The Sun Goes Down. Their debut album Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not became the fastest-selling debut album in British music The band's second album, Favorite Worst Nightmare, is to be released on April 23.

And looky looky they return to Vancouver on May 3^rd at the Commodore.

PEARL JAM – LOVE REIGN O'RE ME –

Some stuff you might not have known:

Before there was Pearl Jam there was a band called Mother Love Bone. Andrew Woods was the lead singer and then…he died (loved the drugs). So the band set out to find a new singer (enter stage left)…his name is Eddie Vedder.

This song is a cover, it's from The Who's album Qudrophina released in 1973. We will be able to hear this song on the soundtrack of the forthcoming Adam Sandler movie called "Reign Over Me" in theaters March 23.

ARCADE FIRE – KEEP THE CAR RUNNING –

The Last Album was critically acclaimed it was nominated for Grammy's (best alternative rock song, best song written for TV) Juno's , Brit Awards and every countries MTV Awards (MTV UK, MTV Japan…etc)

And now there's a new CD called Neon Bible(in stores March 5) and the Buzz is thick my friends.

I think this song kind of sounds like an India rock Bruce Springsteen.

Chevelle has announced an April 3rd release date for their newest album, Vena Sera.
It looks like the 3 brothers will hit the road with Evanescence and finger 11 you can expect a Vancouver date.

The big show happens May 20 and 21.

It looks like we finally get a decent festival show The "V" fest will be at the Thunderbird Stadium May 20^th and 21^st. We'll get to see My Chemical Romance, The Killers, Billy Talent, AFI, Muse, Hot Hot Heat and more. Tickets are on sale now at TICKETMASTER.

This ties in to our next band:

In October 2006, the British band Kasabian criticized My Chemical Romance, labeling them "clowns" and "emo kids" who "don't have anything positive to say" and "should get out more and try and have a good time instead

KASABIAN – SHOOT THE RUNNER –

Second single from the Empire CD…Sara and I both heard the song on CSI Miami..and ummmm that's all.

COLD WAR KIDS – HANG ME UP TO DRY –

This is the first single from the new CD Robbers and Cowards. The Cold War Kids are tour now with The Tokyo Police Club and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah.

TEN SECOND EPIC – COUNT YOURSELF IN –

This is the title track from their debut album.

A Sonic former Band of the Month…these cats are from Edmonchuch and have recently been signed to Universal. We have all been invited to drop by and see them @ Vertigo on Saturday evening with THESET and a band called Open Parachute.
