Since learning (months ago!) that Soda Stereo was reuniting for a limited number of shows, I've been on this obsessive high. With every new bit of news, my mania would just reignite itself. And, even now, six days after the gig, I still wake up with their choruses in my head.
Everyone's pretty tired of me going over every single detail of the show and searching for good video on Youtube (my videos and photos suck!). But, I can't get over having just seen one of my favorite bands, who broke up ten years ago, give an energetic, flawless performance in a crowd of 20,000 people who chanted along to every song. It was an amazing, sweaty, smushy, beautiful experience (which made me realize that I miss going to shows). I wish I had not been so cheap and forked over another $140+ for their Tuesday concert as well.
I'd love to sit down and write out the very long, detailed post that the event deserves, but I'm still in Miami. I'll try to get to it before I get home -- or forget!
The crowd went pretty crazy during this song. It's the first time that I had a significant position shift in the entire night. (I was standing third from the rail near the lead singer and behind two cute Argentine boys who refused to let me stand in front of them even though I'm way shorter. I tortured the tall one all night long for this offence. He did pick me up when I almost fell, though. Kinda loved him.) Everyone was jumping. I was getting elbowed and beat from all sides. This is my favorite song, too.

That was a quick set-up. We need to explain why a professor would date a cute, young bartender (Really?!), lame 2 minutes follow. And, what happened to the younger sister that I saw in the summer preview (I'm sure that I'll soon be able to answer this myself.)? She was deaf and not the typical, pretty brat, like the new one. I also got the impression that both parents were dead. How much of the pilot did they reshoot?!
The rest is ok so far. But, the pilot would've been better at 90 minutes, instead of 44.

Ugh. I could not have felt hotter, dizzier, or more bloated than I did hours ago. So, I turned up the fan (a fucking fan!!) and poked at my remote in hopes of distraction. But, I've dropped it so many times that only half of the numbers work. And, this TV.. The colors are off. The image is blurry. I have to guess my channel most of the time. That's how I ended up on that confused little MyNetworkTV.
There was a soiled woman running, panting, stopping, freaking, running right into a police station. It looked a little too good to be one of their translated Mexican soap operas for the unwilling. I assumed that today was Thursday -- Movie night. Then, I recognized the scene. A minute later.. Glenn Close.
Ads for Damages have been running non-stop for at least a month. They obviously took the promotion a step further. I'm glad, because I initially wasn't really eager to watch it. I know that F/X shows are really about Scumbags. Their professions are irrelevant -- just a means to personalizing some fucked-up actions. But, sitting through an hour of lawyers scheming and belittling each other in court didn't seem as appealing as anticipating the homicidal moves of an orphaned Ken doll with a scalpel. (It does not get any better than Nip/Tuck's third season finale.) I underestimated.
Sure, there are moments of office cattiness, verbal sparring, client-bullshitting (in the name of greed), and defendant frustration. They are, however, wonderfully accompanied by lots of hideous manipulation, some bodily damage, and an unraveling past. The pilot kept it dirty and very intriguing. (Ted Danson was sooooo good. Who knew?)
Along with AMC's Mad Men, this is probably one of the few things worth watching this summer.
Whedon fans, Vincent Kartheiser (Angel) and Christina Hendricks (Saffron on Firefly) are part of Mad Men's cast. Kartheiser is playing 20-something, but still looks 15.

I was going to say that I won't be watching I Am Legend, but everyone knows that I like Suspense/Horror cheese. And, I've already seen the two earlier versions plus own an unread copy of the book. It would probably be very hard for me to stay away from this one.
Still, I wonder how much will be lost for the sake of making Will Smith a flawless hero. If they wanted to continue Omega Man's legacy of cheese, they could've easily gone with Vin Diesel. The man is masterfully corny. If they wanted an actor (vs a celebrity) for a more complex character, there are quite a number of aged options. But, they is most likely Will Smith, so I guess there's really nothing that could've been done. (I give up so easily, I know.)
Without further bitching, I present to you all three trailers in chronological order. What do you think?
Can this man ever do wrong? I think not.
Charlton Heston is not about subtlety, folks.
All three are appropriate for their particular leading men and definite products of their times. Sooooo, who has hotter boobs: Charlton Heston or Will Smith? haha.

I never did get into Dead Like Me, but this looks too adorable to ignore. It has that whole surreal, quirky, smart, endearing thing going on. At least, it's not on Fox, so there's hope.
Aww, I almost kissed the screen.
P.S. I tried watching Katee Sackhoff's Lifetime movie. I'm sorry, but I just could not.
Bye, Bye Joel Siegel.

From David Eick, the producer of BSG -- So, expect grim drama .. and Katee Sackhoff!
http://www.nbc.com/Fall_Preview/Bionic_Woman/
It's a nice little trailer. The scene in the recovery room is especially good. I barely miss the bionic noise. And, I like the cast, too. (I guess that this means that Crossing Jordan is finally gone?!)
I do hope that its being on NBC, rather than cable, doesn't mean that it'll be watered down.

This is a Battlestar Galactica-related post, so you might want to skip it if you haven't yet seen Crossroads Pt.1. But, wait.. For those of you who usually aren't interested in science fiction, but enjoy thoughtful, intelligent, realistic, unsettling, exciting drama that explores relevant themes and rarely offers feel-good solutions, if any at all, this might be something worth seeking out.
Just this season alone, they've covered occupation, captivity, torture, mass murder, revolt, revenge, (heavy-handed) classism, religious/ethnic intolerance, and the staples of family, self, and the search for a true home. There aren't any aliens either, just humans and their sexy, sapient creations.
The first two seasons are out on dvd, so you can probably rent them at Netflix. A brief, 44-minute recap of both of them can be found here.
Ok, done with the pitch. Spoilers ahead.
In the last couple of weeks, I've had limited access to cable. I was finally able to see Crossroads On Demand today. So, who are the five Cylons? From their alertness to radio signals (hated this method of revelation) and funny facial expressions, it's obvious that hot Mr. Starbuck (ALWAYS forget his name), Saul, and President's assistant (Never known her name) are the first three. Who is left?
Will Gaius be a red herring? Is Six only projecting her emotional needs? Or, is the assassination attempt his way into the goo? Is Starbuck coming back...this way? Does D'Anna's reverence in the presence of the glowing five mean that it's a more important someone? Like Adama (which would make Lee a hybrid) or the President?
I suppose that it's good to give Mr. Starbuck more of a reason for existing than just being the man in the middle, but I really expected more visible characters or new, unknown "people" to be exposed as Cylons. Oh well, not disappointed yet.
If you actually have finale spoilers, don't post them. I prefer guesses.

Many an auction and a bit of lethargy have led to my lack of communication. I'm actually a little surprised that I hadn't posted since November. But, honestly, I haven't had all that much to say. And, well, I felt too unmotivated to angrily pound out internal dialogues that dealt with shitbags, who don't have the decency to keep their sadism to themselves, and these:
I'm sure that you don't want me to relate the non-story about the friendly gesture that resulted in little scenes straight out of high school either.. or go on about the nausea that only Citgo propaganda can promote.
OK. All caught up with the usual superficiality.
I initially only meant to post about my joining Vu's menagerie at weheartmusic.com, before I got all chatty. Don't worry, Vu already mocked my choice of "The Dominatrix Sleeps Tonight", so I'll be keeping my dance selections (that so quickly spiral into Italo Disco) to a minimum. It's all British and French and American-pretending-to-be-British.
Um. No Def Leppard... WHO I LOVE.

Christopher Eccleston is to star in US TV series Heroes after wowing US audiences with his portrayal of the Time Lord in cult British TV show Doctor Who. The 42-year-old actor is to appear in the US sci-fi drama, which sees a group of people unite to stop a nuclear explosion after realizing they have superpowers, but bosses won't reveal which part he's signed on to play. However, there are rumors the Gone In Sixty Seconds star could take the role of mystery serial killer Syler. A show insider told British newspaper Daily Star, "Chris is a fantastic actor and we're delighted to have him on board. No one has seen Syler and Christopher could be perfect as the bad guy."

Doesn't it seem kind of odd that he'd want to be on a popular sci-fi show after ending his Doctorship early...because of its certain popularity? Anyway, I doubt that he is Sylar, or so I've been led to believe by posters on the IMDB.
