*Sparkler*
@The Purple Turtle,61-65 Crowndale Road, London, NW1 1TN
Thursday 21st June: 7.30pm-1am (First band on @ 8pm)
£6 entry
Camden residency featuring delicious new bands as they begin to sparkle – a stage for the cinematic, the epic, the dark and the beautiful… let the fireworks begin…

Featuring:
Chris Letcher, Lynch Rider Lulu, Bob Constant, Gilbert
+ DJs playing the dark, weird and wonderful….

Chris Letcher
Acclaimed South African songwriter/composer Chris Letcher and his band perform songs from their new album 'Frieze' – fresh from tours of South Africa and gigs at Sine in New York and SXSW.

"A 16-track album, 'Frieze' is everything that Letcher promised in those early years… keenly intelligent, musically dense, utterly memorable, always sliding through any attempts to nail it down to a genre." Entertainment Africa

Lynch Rider Lulu
Female fronted alt-rock 4-piece… …expect hypnotic rhythms, dynamic guitar riffs-a-plenty and finely crafted songs about the characters history forgot...

Gilbert
Heavenly sounds with a quirky twist… music for daydreaming and contemplating with lashing of dark humour. Beautifully arranged melodies and themes combine with loops and samples, live vocals, violin, pianet, bass, vox continental and drums. This is Gilbert's only London show prior to playing Green Man Festival – so catch them while you can.

Bob Constant & the Goodbye Horses
A glimpse into the poetic world of Bob Constant & the Goodbye Horses, the acoustic trio whose music straddles the place where absurd meets melancholy. If Tom Waits and Rufus Wainwright were to meet on a creaking staircase in a haunted house it might just sound something like this…. Fractured, beautiful and a little unnerving….

Next Sparkler night happening this Wednesday 30th May at The Purple Turtle in Camden. And that's the truth...
It looks set to be significantly marvellous, featuring a fantastic band from Leeds called Quack Quack (instrumental 3-piece featuring frenetic and infectious rhythms, inspired by Can, James Brown and Africa 70 ), quirky and melodic trio The Bronsteins (a new offshoot of Absentee fronted by the lovely Melinda) and the return of The Robot Heart from sunny Brighton (with their epic folk harmonies rebounding off cathedral size keyboards and an opiate John Bonham robot beating drums and building beats... my oh my) plus Lynch Rider Lulu blitzing through their new dark materials....
+ Si and Matt will be dj-ing a storm as usual, digging up gems from their record collections to inspire and confuse.
Hope you're able to come down and join the us....
x Lulu & the riders
