Basics: New teen driving rules
Drivers under 17 can only drive with one passenger who is not a relative.
They also can't drive after midnight without a parent or guardian.
Drivers who are 17 or 18 can only drive between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. if it's for work. They must carry a note from an employer in the car.
The age to get a temporary license, 15 & 1/2, was not raised to 16 as originally proposed.
The bill's sponsors said that eliminating driving distractions was much more important than raising the teen driving age.
The bill also toughens child-restraint requirements, including for out-of-state residents.
