Current mood: mellow
Yesterday I was happlily walking along, singing to myself walking through Barnstable centre. I was pretty happy - the sun was shining and I had just been to the beach for a surf. I was on my way to look for some much needed sturdy shoes for Ghana. I walked from the car park, and arrived at the zebra crossing. The crossing is the one next to the double roundabouts which leads into Barnstable centre. These roundabouts leads you from the M5 to most places - Barnstable centre, the hospital, Braunton, and many of the surrounding beaches. Today as I looked to my right towards the roundabout it was a particularly busy day. There was a firetruck stopped on one of the roundabouts and two fairly mouthy woman in the middle of one, who had abandoned their cars with the doors wide open. I double glanced and heard them ask the fireman if he knew the RSPCA's number. I chuckled to myself as obviously all people in government type professions know everything.hehe. I looked around looking for the culprit of this massive jam and complete stand still from the 5 different entries of the 2 roundabouts. As i looked down, I saw a Mummy duck and 5 ducklings wandering across the roundabout. They went straight on and proceeded onto the second roundabout where they took a left and proceeded into the town centre. The ducklings following their mother eagerly jumping onto the pavement with a little hop skip jump type action. I ran across the crossing to see them wander into the town centre. I found myself with a big grin on my face and chuckling to myself. I then remembered the part in One flew over the Cuckoo's nest where Jack Nicholson's character takes the 'patients' on a Day trip ( they escape on a bus and go fishing.) On the bus they see an old couple with chairs outside a tv shop watching tv, and a sign, 'Duck's Crossing.' It got me thinking about the issues that Milos Forman brings up in the film. For me its a film about the place of indiviudals in society and the control that a 'system' in society tries to exercise control, reducing freedom and independance.
I think we need more Duck's in this world.

I woke up and I was a girly girl. When did this happen? It used to be said that I was a bit of a tom boy, or was it just that I was just friends with all the boys? I never minded getting dirty and never held back for the sake of a worry about my looks. It still shocks me when people say that Im really girly. One of my close friends told me they think they are getting more girly since we have been friends. I changed over time but realisation occured once the change had happened. I still dont really care about looking like a minger but i love all things girly. Its more of a shock for people i havent seen for a while, like friends who have been on gap years. However they all just say i was a closet girly girl. How is it that sometimes your friends know you better than you know you? Maybe i need to spend some time getting to know myself.

You have heard it said, " Do not commit adultery" but i tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart (Matthew 5:27-28) So was he just speaking to guys here?Really..no. To paraphrase and apply.. I tell you that any woman who envisions a man longingly has already commited adultery with him in her heart. When I hear people say that woman dont stuggle with sexual or relationship issues I really think they must be living under a rock. Maybe it could be said that woman don't always suffer with the physical side as much as men (although I think that statement has to be taken very cautiously, because everyone is different.) Men and woman struggle differently. A man's battle probably begins with his eyes whereas a womans begins in her heart and thoughts. As girls i feel as though alot of us are going through life with our eyes shut because not enough has been taught about this subject. We must learn to closely guide our hearts and minds as well as our bodies in order to experience Gods full plan for us in terms of physical and emotional integrity. There are so many unique differences between men and woman. I dont think its wise to go into them on a blog but I think it is wise to start realising them. Let's not be naive and run the race blind folded and without knowledge of Gods purpose for us as girls. Strive for holiness and wholeness.
