Hi all, I enjoyed the trio show on Sunday. Thanks again to Vicky (bassist) and to Steve, who filled in on keys. Thanks also to Team Pro Event for bringing us to the festival and to the fans that we met yesterday. I hope we'll see you again, too. Simon and I will bring our duo back to Berkeley in Dec. (See www.tangria.net). I'm looking forward to that show, too. I hope you're having a good November and are staying healthy. :) Sheryl

Hi all, I booked two new shows that Simon and I will play as a duo. October 4, 2009
Spice of Life Festival's Farmers' Market Stage
Shattuck Ave from Rose to Virginia St, Berkeley, CA
1-3pm
December 12, 2009
Berkeley Farmers' Market Holiday Crafts Fair
Center St at MLK Jr. Way, Berkeley, CA
1-3pm, free Last week, I learned that ASCAP will offer Tangria a tiny bit of support thanks to our performances last year of lots of original pieces. I'm grateful for that. It is also encouraging me to reach out for grant support for Tangria's future shows and new pieces. Hopefully, we'll have some good news along those lines late this year. Peace, Sheryl

Hi all,
Since the last posting, I was interviewed by Lani Allen. (I'll post again if and when the article is published by TomTom Magazine, a publication about women drummers.)
The interview reminded me of where I've been and where I hope to go musically. Going back to North Carolina to introduce my partner to my family (he was well-received :) ) also offered me a similar perspective on my personal life. Reconnecting with North Carolina musician Michael Libramento (bassist for the Southern leg of Tangria's 2008 national tour), whose tour came out to Cali last month, and hearing Ray Wilcox (whom I first heard with the funk band Tang!, of which Tangria was a jazz side-project) sing his guts out in a small line-up (after showcasing some of his students) were also cool moments and reminders of the ways in which things stay the same even while they change.
I'll keep you all updated about where Tangria and I are going musically. Lots of avenues of expression are being explored, but I'll wait to share details when those projects mature a bit.
:) Sheryl
PS: My mood is worried right now because my partner is a little ill. PPS: Thanks for playing our music, truckertom.podshow.com!

Hello,
I hope you are having a great day and are able to find something for which you can give thanks.
Since it was my 33rd birthday this Tuesday, I gave myself some time to reflect and to find lots of people and events for which to be thankful. I'm going to be giving personal thanks to the wonderful people who sent me birthday wishes, but I also want to thank all of you folks who are reading for your interest in Tangria and for your kind attention.
I also want to thank the friends and supporters who came to the past 2 Tangria shows. I felt some cool connections were made with fellow musicians and lovers of music. Thanks to all of you who said hello, who shared how you first heard of Tangria, and who expressed an interest in our music. It was great to meet and to perform for you. I hope you'll enjoy our CD's and future shows, too.
I'm about to get back to some venues who have been interested in hosting Tangria. Hopefully, we'll have some new shows at some cool places to add to the calendar soon. In the meantime, I'll keep you posted on related news.
Wishing you well, Sheryl

Hi all,
I'm still smiling from Tangria's last show. Simon, Vicky and I played at Jupiter in Berkeley a few weeks ago. It was great to see lots of friends in the crowd, to eat the yummy food and to work with the kind people on staff there.
With a little help, I'm looking for more shows for Tangria. Please contact me if you have an event coming up that could use some live music. Tangria is flexible and can work with most budgets.
A few weeks ago, I also applied for some grant funding to support some new Tangria creations. If we get this funding or support from some other funders that I plan to contact, I'll be happy to share that news with you.
Be well! Sheryl
PS: Check out the new season of free concerts at www.sterngrove.org if you are in San Francisco this summer.

Hi all, Tangria just started working with the folks at hip chick music. We hope to have some more gigs on the calendar thanks to the people at this nifty label. The artists on the label make a wide variety of music. Please let me know if you find a new band you love there. :) Sheryl

Hi all, Some good news came yesterday. "City of Ba," the percussion piece I wrote and included on Tangria's first CD, was a finalist in the Great American Song Contest (see the instrumental category near the bottom of the page)! Yay! I really like this tune and I am happy to have a reason to mention it since I mostly feature jazz with Tangria nowadays. I hope that more people will find "City of Ba" through iTunes and other outlets and buy it thanks to this contest. By the way, one teacher used "City of Ba" to introduce students to the names of different drums. Also, if you like "City of Ba," check out "Gemini," the percussion tune on Tangria's second CD. Peace, Sheryl www.tangria.net
