Twenty-Five miles from town, a million miles from mainstream society, a loose-knit community of eco-pioneers, teenage runaways, war veterans and drop-outs, live on the fringe and off the grid, struggling to survive with little food, less water and no electricity, as they cling to their unique vision of the American dream…

The live music experience reached a new level of interaction with the arrival of the modern rock concert. In the 1960s, performers, artists and promoters shaped a synergy with audiences that was unprecedented. The promotional art inspired by the performers, the intimacy of the venues and the energy of the audience all combined to create experiences that are indelible in the minds of those who were there. This era was the true genesis for the years of great concert art that followed, as rock concerts evolved from their dance hall roots to the clubs, arenas, amphitheatres and stadiums of today.Wolfgang's VaultWolfgang was Bill Graham, the man whose genius for bringing performer and audience together shaped the rock concert as we have come to know it. Born Wolfgang Grajonca in Berlin in 1931, he escaped Nazi Germany to grow up in a foster home in the Bronx and anglicized his name at the age of 18. Bill Graham, who would come to be known as the midwife of the modern rock concert, was smart and forward-thinking, an opportunist and a listener, fair and ferociously demanding, and he remembered his roots: in the 1980s he opened a small San Francisco club and named it Wolfgang's.Wolfgang's VaultGraham's creative vision led him to commission true works of art to promote his shows and, fortunately for the modern collector, his entrepreneurial instincts led him to overprint and preserve the exceptional art, photography and recordings that came from these shows. For over 30 years, his company accumulated and stored this material in newly minted condition. Until Wolfgang's Vault, if you could even find a Bill Graham Presents poster, it was frequently in less than mint condition because it was torn from walls or telephone poles as a concert souvenir. The vast majority of material in Wolfgang's Vault comes from the exquisitely preserved, original archives of Bill Graham Presents, which we now own and manage. Beginning with the seminal concerts of the mid 1960s and continuing through today, we've assembled a superb collection that is being cared for in state-of-the-art facilities. We have only begun to mine the depths of the Vault. We opened in October 2003 with our unparalleled collection ofPoster Art and added our extraordinary vintage t-shirts, backstage passes, laminates and books shortly thereafter. In 2004 we released the BG Archive photography collection, and since then we have become the exclusive online source for four of the greatest rock photographers of all time: Baron Wolman, Michael Zagaris, Joe Sia and Gene Anthony. The Vault is constantly undergoing exciting changes and developments. We've expanded our apparel line to includeinfant and kids wear. Concert Vault, has brought the depths of the Bill Graham archive, the King Biscuit Flower Hour and a growing number of other audio archives to hundreds of thousands of listeners. The introduction of Big Ticketgrants collectors access to a pristine and extremely rare collection of poster art that's not available anywhere else. We are regularly introducing fresh new product lines and special features like wrapping paper and poster reprints. The Vault continues to grow and evolve, with updates and additions constantly improving the look and function of our site.

holy shit its hot down out of the mountains!we made it as far as Oklahoma so far.a cpl days driving through east New Mexico, the pan handle of Texas and western Oklahoma sucked and was well over a hundred degrees.on the bright side the Jeep took it all in stride.and thanks critter for hot wiring my cooling fan for me...it worked like a charm.

the Gathering was awesome.the Teahouse fucking rocked!our crew rocked face this year, and i can't wait to show off the pictures of arrrr build this year.we had a huge kitchen built as fancy as they come.big props to our jewish carpenter!we had a fat stove complete with a joly rodger clay front that said tea time.a stage, two cadged stripper poles [taken down before the fourth] and a huge "Tea" shaped bliss fire pit.we had a ton of awesome live bands on the stage including some accompanying drums!and we gave away somewhere around 10 thousand or so gallons of herbal hydration {TEA} to the masses.Arrrr flag was posted somewhere around 100 ft high this year.thats about 3 feet above the tallest tree in arrr camp.we imported a Canadian to do that.i've truly never seen another flag as tall as that one at a Gathering before.all of our neighbors were mostly cool and only a negligible amount of complaints about the horns this year.all in all i'd say we had an excellent time this year.we even had some arizona fam that we haven't see in what seems like ten years!

i want to take the time and say thanks to everyone who chipped in and helped us get the equipment out to New Mexico this year!i really wasn't going to be able to to do it alone.we raised close 1100 dollars!thats about half of what it cost to get there this year.

also big props for the crew this year.we had a lot of new faces and few for their second and third tea houses.you all busted your asses and made it happen big this year!i can't speak highly enough of ya's.Byron and Elijah......you kids fucking rock!if everyone worked as hard as those two fuckers Rainbow would change the world in no time....

thanks to everyone who made it happen this year!
thanks to the hippies for giving a reason to boil water!

IT'S ALWAYS TEA TIME!

WHERE WILL THE GATHERING BE?

The truth is no one knows where the gathering will be at this time. In July 2008 Vision Council called for it to be in New Mexico.
Thanksgiving Council Information

Thanksgiving Council is the beginning of the planning process for the 2009 gathering. As with all things Rainbow, no experience is necessary, just a willingness to participate in the process. T-Council often picks dates for one or two scout councils and spring council. Sometimes a mailing address is established and often a magic hat with banking council is formed to hold any funds collected before the gathering starts. We especially need less experienced family to come, share new ideas and learn about old ways. Thanksgiving Council is over and done with and when minutes become available they will be posted.

A PO Box has been created for communication with the gathering.
2009 Rainbow
P. O. Box 251

Scout Council (s)

These councils are get togethers for people involved in scouting. The first Scout Council is happening on May 1 and is a great time for all people interested in scouting to get together. As with all things Rainbow, no experience is necessary. If you decide to participate in scouting, please be self sufficient, be able to feed yourself and either pay for your own gas/car repairs, or chip in green energy to the owner of the vehicle you're traveling in. .

The second Scout Council is happening on June 3/4. This is a time when people who have been out scouting, come together, discuss the potential sites, maybe go revist them, discuss logistical issues and try to work out which sites are the most viable.

The second Scout Council as discussed and consensed at Thanksgiving Council '08 will take place June 3rd and 4th, 2009 at the Clear Creek primitive (unimproved) camping area. This is an easy access location with good parking and good water and no built-up facilities.

Scouts will be meeting to discuss what they have found and to announce a location for the Spring Council which is scheduled for June 10th.

Directions: Take New Mexico State Road 126 from where it tees out of US Highway 550 (Near Cuba, NM), go East approx 11 miles until you come to Clear Creek Road, which has a marker sign pointing toward the San Gregario Trail and San Pedro Parks. Go North on this road approx one-half mile and you will see the Clear Creek primitive camping area on your right.

Along State Road 126 if you come to the improved Clear Creek Campground, you have gone too far.

Peace, Love, Freedom and Safe Travels...
Spring Council

Spring council picks the gathering site based on information provided to people on the land, at the council. Either a consensus or a vote by foot type of decision is reached. Until spring council picks a site, there is no answer to the question, where will the gathering be? This year spring council starts June 10. People with information on sites from scouting will bring that information to the people on the land, and those present will decide where to go. As with all things Rainbow, everyone is invited to participate in the process. If you come, please be self-sufficient and have your own food and drinking water.

Directions from Albuquerque:
Take I-25 north to U.S. Highway 550. Go north on U.S. Highway 550 approximately 65 miles to State Highway 126 (Cuba, NM).
Go east about 15 miles on State Highway 126, look for the sign for FS 20, (the 'G.S.' sign is there also), turn onto FS 20, cross Rio Las Vacas, come to Trail Creek about five miles from where the pavement ends. Travel safely.
Tips for a safe journey home & a Positive Gathering

If you plan on driving, make sure your car and driver is 100% legal-all lights work, valid insurance and registration, seatbelts, car seats for children. Our government assumes that we are criminals. Please try to arrive during daylight hours as the roads into gathering sites can be tricky and we want you to arrive home safely. If you can make space in your vehicle for a rider or you need a ride, ride share is happening craistlist.org or kindrideshare.net. If you will be sharing a ride, please meet the folks you'll be riding with at a local coffee shop, make sure you feel comfortable traveling a long distance with them, and establish the ground rules. If you are coming via bus, plane or train, try to connect up with a ride from your destination before you get there. If you are planning on hitchhiking, please travel with a buddy, only bum rides during the day and if you get a bad feeling from a ride, PLEASE don't take it. There will always be another one.

*Always* say no to requests for search, no matter what they tell you. It is not illegal for cops to lie to you, and they often will do so to get your consent to search. "You might as well give us permission, because if you do not, we will go get a warrant and you will be here for hours." This is a bluff. Don't fall for it. Their time is much more valuable than yours.

If they insist on searching over your objections, don't prevent them physically in anyway - but continue to repeat "I do not consent." Ask for names and badge numbers, write down time, place, and what happened in detail. Every little thing matters in a court of law, even the things that don't mean much to you or me. If you can, take pictures, videos, and/or tape recordings.

Also, if they ask you if you have contraband, and tell you that if you have just a little bit and give it to them that they will not search you, tell them no. Never, never, never incriminate yourself. That means don't consent to anything, don't give them anything but your license, registration, and proof of insurance, don't admit to anything. When approaching the Gathering site, remember that you're coming as friends in somebody else's back yard. Treat the local folks with the courtesy, respect and concern that they deserve as members of the Family of Humankind. Be Loving and Kind. Don't be rude, steal, trash the town, disturb the Peace, or try to "shock" people. Be mindful of others' sensitivities. Remember the original Golden Rule when dealing with BOTH Babylon AND Rainbow: Treat Others the Way you want to be treated! Please, make your journey a safe one. Don't be under the influence while driving.

Let's all get home safely.

DRIVE SAFELY!
Ignore all rumors of cancellation or organization!
Live Lightly with the Land and People!

well there is no way i can do this by myself this year.so unless i get some serious offers of financial help,im not going to be able to bring my equipment to the nationals this year.one sister doanted 40 dollars and a cpl people said they wanted to help but thats just not going to be enough to do it this year.so i appreacite the cpl offers of help but unless something substantial happens im going to start making other plans for my summer.i seriously spent around 3500 dollars last summer just to get everything ready and transport it all to wyoming.im not looking to come up with that kind of money in donations but unless i can come  up with 5-600 hundred in donations at the very least there is just no way i can pull this off.oh and by the way,its going to cost at least 400 just to get the transport jeep running and legal.thats not including fuel.if i can get the jeep in good running order and legal, tags and insurance, then i don't mind making the fuel money enroute.so if anyone cares enough about teatime to make a considerable donation to the cause then get with me asap.
