My absolute obsessive desire is to crochet a dress. I saw one that I really liked first in Argentinian magazine (on the left )
Then I was lucky to see the advertisement of Gayle Bunn's book in American magazine of absolutely the same dress!! I WAS destined to do it!!
The only problem with it that I don't like that there are buttons on the side (and I can't see it on the pictures in the book--shame on photographer and designer!) and also the skirt is made of 2 pieces. First, I don't like to sew. Second, why I have to do 2 pieces when I can do it in 1???!!! I want to change the pattern so that I can do the skirt in one piece and get rid of buttons. If you have any suggestions, write it!

Current mood: hyper
Because I'm from Russia, I realized that not everybody here know what Orenburg's shawls are. Orenburg is the town in the north of Russia where in the winter is very cold, so women were knitting these shawls to be warm and wear it on heads or around necks for centuries.
I have these 2 shawls at home. They are REALLY warm and I use it when I don't want to turn on the conditioner.

Current mood: accomplished
Before I selected projects for the sake of learning.
Now I feel myself so ACCOMPLISHED ( :) I don't) and also I'm done with bad-looking projects that on the first place I put:
1. awe moment--I must LOOOVe how it looks! It should look gorgeous so I can brag about it!
2. it must fit properly on the model in the magazine/book and this model shouldn't hide anything because I know that is the case when the thing is designed badly. So it must fit me well.
3. availability/"affordness" of the yarn
4. time that I will spend on crocheting it
5. learning element--I want to learn more technics
6. is it practical? will I wear it? (I have things that I have never wore and I don't want it to happen anymore) will it suit my personal style?
7. the simplicity of the pattern--is there a sceme? can I actually understand the directions? or I need a help with it?

Current mood: crazy
I LOOOOVE this project!!!!!!!!
Of course I made a mistake! And not the only one! But I proud to say that survived and already made a progress.
I couldn't figured out where the right and wrong side is and also where is the left front and right! I did the half of right front, found a mistake that I made in the previous row, then put IT away. It was already a night and I was tired, something struck me and I thought that I'm doing the right front from the wrong side and I began to do it from different side.
You can see on the foto that one front is crocheted on the wrong side and the pattern didn't match with the back. On the other day I realized that in the beginning I did right and frogged what I did at night and fixed mistake on the right front and was OK finally!
I must say that it is not only MY mistake. The "Happy Hooker" book is infamous for it's multiple mistakes and this pattern is not an exception. On it's webside I found corrections and also some more EXPLANATIONS because the pattern itself was written badly--it caused confusion not only to me!
Wright now I need to make 10 more rows and I'm done with the back and both fronts!! YEEEEEEESSSSS!!!

Current mood: cheerful
I spend A LOT of hours last 2 days organizing my stash of yarns and amy knitting/crocheting binder with my unfinished and finished projects.

Also I discovered a crochet podcast (the only one that exasts), called CrochetCast--see on iTunes Store, it's free.
Also I started a new (again new) project, called hort'n Sweet from the book "Stitch'n Bitch Crochet The Happy Hooker" by Debbie Stoller--very popular book. I was against doing anything from this book because I KNEW that tit contains millions mistakes, as her previous knitting books. I checked her webside and found corrections to SEVERAL patterns, and this pattern was one of those, so I decided that it is pretty safe now to start it. I took different yarn--Patons Classic merino wool--my favorite one--insted of 100% mercerized cotton that they had there. I hope I didn't screwed up anything with choosing another yarn! Why almost everything there for the clothes is from cotton? If you know-write me!
The pattern is beautiful!!! I guess my decision influenced simplicity of my current projects, I'm tired of plain fabric!
