If you didn't know already, we're actively seeking a new drummer. PJ played his last show with us on July 29th, and since then we've been trying to find the new guy. In the meantime, we've got a couple shows coming up...Aug. 10th at Alley Katz (an all ages show) - with Brent Gorton & The Tender Breasts and Liza Kate. And also Aug. 12th at The Green Dolphin in Roanoke with The Young Sinclairs. So while we're a man short, our compratriot, brother-in-arms, and spirit coordinator, Hot Walter will be temporarily filling in.

The upcoming Alley Katz show will probably be our last show for sometime in the RVA area. While we're regrouping and such, Nick may play some acoustic shows, and Judson will finally be able to finish his robot army that's been sitting there, neglected out in the garage.

So come get yer woot-woot on at Alley Katz on Thursday, August 10th. It's an early show - 7pm, it's all ages, and Liza Kate's playing! (Oooh - and Brent Gorton and a totally sweet Philly group called The Portable Folk Band).

PJ, our drummer has decided his last gig with The Cheap Seats will be our Out of Bounds show on July 29th with You Guys Are Girls. We're all sad to see him go, as he was instrumental in the formation of the group, to the recording of "Fly Low, Icarus!", and being a fellow furry member of our bearded band. This split is amicable, and we all wish him the best. We'll be performing throughout July with PJ while simultaneously seeking his replacement.

We extend an invite to any potential newbie to come see/hear us live, as we're still moving forward with many of our tentative plans. Our initial plan to record a live EP before the end of the summer has been shelved for now, but we are still hoping to do a bit of touring in the late fall & early winter months. We do currently have shows booked in August and September...so please get in touch if you are a drummer (or know a drummer) looking for a gig.

Thanks, and be sure to catch one of PJ's last shows with us this month.

hey, this is nick...

in the next month or two i'm going to start recording some rock and roll songs in my bedroom.  i'm going to put them up on a myspace site here.

until the songs are up, i'm going to post a few recordings that i made about three and a half years ago.  the record got thrown away, but a few of the people who played on it wound up being in the cheap seats.

which is kind of interesting...

u.s.a?

anyways, go look at it and listen to the old songs if you want, and if you check it every once in a while, eventually new songs that i'm writing should pop up.

get bent, suckers!

nick.

hello, friends.

the band just finished a little clump of shows that went fairly well.

thursday we played at nanci raygun. it was the famous nanci raygun "5/5/5 afternoon special"- five bands at five p.m. playing for an audience of five people.  it's a good thing everyone that works there has such cool hair, because otherwise i might not ever go back.

friday we played the WRIR radio birthday bash.  lots of people came, and the room was really big and made of expensive materials.*  mid-song, a woman violently kicked off her shoes and began dancing.  we had no monitors, and on stage it sounded like i was singing into a bowl of pudding.  there was a cheese and cracker assortment and cupcakes .  three songs before we were done, my amp died and we had to stop.  the verdict?  SUCCESSFUL GIG(cheese and cracker assortment and cupcakes)!!

saturday we played at the you guys are girls cd release party.  it was nice.  we had a trivia question and one lucky audience member went home with a lovely fondue pot.  there was a lot of beer left over.  you guys are girls were nice, pretty, and good at singing and playing their guitars.

if you live in the area, be sure to come see us at william and mary on saturday...you guys are girls have been added to the bill, and they are fun to see.  i think we might be headlining.  that would be funny.  no promises, but the cheap seats might set out on a late-night walking tour of colonial williamsburg after the show, and we would love traveling companions...like the one my uncle has.  but remember, we might not go...like if we are tired, or if you are creepy.

i need a new penny whistle, though, so it looks highly likely.

remember, we have an alley katz show coming up soon...the 25th, i think.  please come and add to the growing crowd of people who will be there to see us play, and keep me from being able to pee before the show(the bathroom door doesn't lock).

thanks for reading,

nick.
