Also this weekend ... Jeff Hunt and Erica and I will be down at the BITE OF BEND (downtown, Bond+Minnesota) in our new streetfood enterprise ... SPORK! Also on Saturday the 20th is the Bend Community Bazaar ... the cool little swap meet, chill session, Saturday market that's been taking shape every couple weeks at Troy Field downtown (just south of McMinneman's) ... some cool vendors there as well as music and plenty of grass to stretch out on. Next weekend we're working with HDC a bit on the Pride celebration ... and we're helping with the PERSON PEOPLE show on Saturday the 27th at the Tulen Center. Lookin' forward to that one for sure!

Grove | BETA for 16 April 2009 Greeeeetings allll! Tax day is done, and the sun is out! Heck yeah.
This Saturday as you know is Earth Day ... and of course now more than ever we should be thinking about our planet. We'll be out with our food booth at the Earth Day fair and we're whipping up some really nice healthy stuff. Scored a grip of nice organic veggies today and we're going to be concocting our Grove Coconut Corn Curry stew that many of you may remember from the restaurant. Tasty yellow Indian veggie curry stew with organic brown jasmine rice and choice of chix or tofu. We're also doing a very yummy organic grass-fed all beef KIMCHI DOG! Yeah, doggie. Spicy-sweet kimchi saurkraut-..style slaw (from Korea) (our version) on a great organic grass-fed beef dog with Dave's organic seed bread and agave ketchup. Slurp! (available w/o the kimchee for the kids). We're also doing some jalapeno corn fritters and a nice black-eyed pea salad with sweet onion and jicama and bacon (available veggie as well). Plus some hot and cold drinks (housemade cardamom-..apricot agua fresca and raspberry mate' tea). Weather's supposed to be nice, the event goes down at Troy Field next to McMennamins from 11-5PM and we're donating all profits to the Central Oregon Environmental Center. All supplies sourced locally and served in compostable recycled servingware. Stop by and have lunch and bring a blanket ... it'll be tasty and for a good cause! There's music all day on the stage, let's get some sun!
That evening (Saturday night) we're doing a show at Silver Moon Brewing with MOUNTAIN STANDARD TIME from Nederland Colorado. Really nice young 6 piece acoustic crew in a very nice room for that sort of thing. And you'll be in striking distance to the Roots of Creation thing next door at the Tulen Center. Tix for the MST show (9PM) are only $6 at the door (21+ only unfortunately)... But you can see them as well at the Earth Day stage at 2PM with the kids.
Feeling a little long-winded at this point (sorry!) and we already told you about the wickedness going down at the Tulen Center on Friday the 24th .. there's an invite on Facebook ... the poster is on our profile. Very much hope everyone can make it out for that cuz it's gonna be really sick.
May is looking fun as well. We have a few nice shows lined up. Quick sketch for your calendars:
Thur May 14 - FLOWMOTION & IZABELLA live at the Summit
Thur May 21 - LYNX & JAMIE JANOVER w/ HEYOKA live at Silver Moon Brewing & Tap Room
Sat May 23 - HEAVYWEIGHT DUB CHAMPION live at the Tulen Center
Thur May 28 - DAVID JACOBS-STRAIN live at Silver Moon Brewing & Tap Room
Looking forward to seeing everyone soon!
cheers! Chris + Erica

Ey ey ey looky the sunshine! Yes!!
Artwalk tonight downtown ... our favorite schwillin' and schmoozin' art tour of downtown. Maybe we see u?
Got a few events to tell u about in April ... first up, this weekend ... Saturday night is the Sharon McMorris benefit going down from 5-9PM at the Deschutes Brewery warehouse (across from the Les Schwab Ampitheatre) ... there'll be a band early and Barisone and I will be playing a little music later (7-9). And speaking of Barisone ... he'll be rocking the Astro Lounge later that night ... which ... as you may know has been doing DJs on certain nights and it's kind of a nice setup. Small, good music ... quality. No cover.
Next weekend is the FLOW hula hoop gathering/conference organized by our very own Mollie Hoopdazzle Hogan! Some verrry cool hoopers coming from all over attending and teaching workshops. Beginning to advanced ... check more info at www.hoopdazzle.com. There's a lot more to hooping than you even knew! Should be a super fun weekend. Slots are still available if you wanna attend and learn some moves!
That Saturday night there's a party at the Tulen Center with the hoopers (and the frisbee golfers) and everyone's invited. DJ lineup includes yours truly as well as Barisone and Lucius. We gwan get down! And there'll be some sick hooping in the parking lot I'm pretty sure!
Moving on ... April 18th as you know is EARTH DAY! Procession of the Species parade going down downtown ... and a big outdoor gathering at Troy Field (just south of McMennamins) with vendors (including a Grove vittles booth!) and information on lots of stuff and music all day from 11 to 5PM. Stop by and grab a bite and check out some tunes and browse and hang out. We're going to be brewing up a hot pot of Grove curry and some fried things for the cold day!
That Saturday evening, we're doing a show at Silver Moon Brewing with MOUNTAIN STANDARD TIME (myspace.com/mstband) from Nederland, Colorado. Super fun 6 piece bluegrass cats from diverse backgrounds who all got together in Nederland. Classic Front Range Colorado bluegrass vibes. Should be a really nice evening of music. Tix are only $6 at the door for that and you can catch a little preview of them playing at the Earth Day stage at 2PM (all ages!). Roots of Creation is also playing that night at the Tulen Center so it might just be a nice block party! Oh and Moksha's at the Astro that night too!
Speaking of bluegrass ... warm congrats to Joe Schulte on the twins! :) The Littlest Ramblers!
OK and last up for APRIL ... we're SUPER stoked to be welcoming LAFA TAYLOR, SaQi, ANAHATA SOUND, and DANGERRUSS with special guests from MARCH FOURTH MARCHING BAND to town for a show on Friday April 24 at the Old Mill Martini Bar. We'll be taking the place over for a night and styling it out for a really sick night of music and shenanagans. LAFA TAYLOR of course is the madman conscious hip hop MC (lafataylor.com) that you know and love. This dude is a ton of fun and totally lighthearted. Fun as hell and SO not trying to be hard. :) Joining him will be SAQI and DANGERRUSS in their DJ forms (both from March Fourth) ... and the metalingual goddess musician ANAHATA (www.anahatasound.com) ... singer ... producer ... performance artist ... trickster ... this is going to be the show of the season! MARCH FOURTH (www.marchfourthmarchingband.com) will be performing a few numbers in and around and with the others and it's just gonna be sick! :) Tickets for that are only $10 at the door. Epic night alert! :)
Ahem. OK, happy April to everyone hope to see you soon cheeeeers! Chris

Aw yeah is that spring in the air?? Diggggin it! Hope everyone is well. Couple of tings coming up ...
Friday ... at Silver Moon ... ELEVEN EYES is playing ... you might know them ... cool .. kinda abstract acid-jazz hop from Eugene. Played here in town a number of times. Always nice.
Saturday ... super essential show ... BLUE TURTLE SEDUCTION and POOR MAN's WHISKEY at the Old Stone Church (on Franklin) ... this is a benefit show for the 4 PEAKS crew, who are trying hard to make something happen this summer where we can all get together and dance in the grass and sleep under the stars! It's not an easy task in any way to make something like that happen in Central Oregon ... sadly ... so please please PLEASE if you can come out and support the 4 Peaks crew by coming out to the show on Saturday night! And it's going to be a couple of really sick bands! Let's all lend some help!
Speaking of helping ... we're going to be helping out with the Sharon McMorris benefit going down on Saturday April 4th at the Deschutes Brewery warehouse. Sharon's struggling with cancer and the community is coming together to raise money and raise the vibration that night. Music, brews, community ... put that on your calendar. More info soon.
Good show on April 2 ... with Steve Kimock as CRAZY ENGINE .. at the Domino. From our good friends at Random Presents (www.randompresents.com). Website has all the info on that and other shows.
Local nightlife note ... the Astro Lounge has been doing DJs on Thursdays and Saturdays lately ... and it's a pretty nice setup. Post 10PM ... and just copasetic local cats doing music they love. Kind of a nice alternative to the overblown pop-grind raves going down at some of the other spots. We were there on Saturday while the lovely Ali-Sun was playing and it was quality! Yours truly will be lounging it up on Thur 26 March there.
We'll have some very nice shows coming up in April and beyond ... more info on those soon! Keep in touch by adding Grove Presents on your Facebook or MySpace. We've even set up a Twitter account! :) @GrovePresents ... Twitter allows you to subscribe to our little micro-blog posts on your celly phone. Nifty! We'll be keepin' our eyes peeled for ya.
cheers! Chris

Hey all. How'z it? :) Just a quick note about a couple things this weekend ...
First, we're doing a cool bluegrass show at Silver Moon this Friday evening ... PERT NEAR SANDSTONE from Minneapolis. Good wholesome stringband goodness. 9PM show, 21+ only and tix are only $6 at the door. Check them at www.pertnearsandstone.com. It's Artwalk downtown so should be a good night out for sure.
It's also Denise Cajacob's birthday (Happy Birthday!) and she's havin' a party that night. Heh heh.
Saturday ... DJ Anjali and the Incredible Kid are playing at the Tulen Center ... who you might remember from the Grove ... under the ATLAS moniker. Anjali plays bhangra (from India) and assorted 3rd world party beats and she plays with her partner The Incredible Kid. Really spicy mix of tunes they play. Niiiiice! And I bet Dale's EAW sound system will be down there .. mmm .... :)
Also on Saturday, our man Lucius is playing at the Astro Lounge ... which has recently been doing some DJ stuff. Not the usual thing for the Astro, but it's actually a pretty nice setup down in the front window there and they're just doing DJs that are doing their own thing (vs. DJs that are playing Top 40 at the other joints) so you're bound to hear some cool interesting music. There's a little dancefloor and it's totally nice (and free!) especially later in the evening when the other bars have all gone crunk and sideways and sloppy. :) If you wanna check out a mixtape from Lucius, you can find one at www.thegrove411.net/FileSpace/Music (and other mixes from the crew there as well). It might also be Diana's birthday on Saturday night ... so there'll be trouble afoot! :)
And speaking of Lucius ... he'll be at the Mandala Yoga Community during Artwalk (Friday night), next to the Poet House. He'll be talking up the healing arts program, giving free massages, tea by Townshend's. 5:30 til 7:30.
Hope everyone is well, see you soon! Chris
ps. If you're a FaceCrack'er ... we just set up a page for Grove Presents there. And on Twitter (@GrovePresents) ... lol :) We're new media junkies. :) Get in touch!
pps. If there's any bands that you're especially hungry for ... we're gearing up for the summer season ... if there's anyone you have in mind, let us know and maybe we can make something happen. Ya heard?

Greetings all! Just a quick reminder that the PERSON PEOPLE CD release party is going down TONIGHT at the Domino Room ... the new album: "heARTbeats" is hot off the press and features some beautiful custom artwork from Mark Rada ... and will be available right from the band at the show, no BS style, just artists making art! Should be a sick show ... the guys are at the top of their game! Opening the show will be Eugene's ELEVEN EYES ... bringing some sick acid jazz and scat-hop vibes. And all for a measly $7!! Gonna be the party to see. Plus, afterparty going down across the street at Silver Moon with DJ Barisone for a full night of good times!
Coming up next week, we're doing a show at Silver Moon on Friday the 6th of March with Minneapolis' PERT NEAR SANDSTONE (www.pertnearsandstone.com) ... a young fun band in the American stringband and bluegrass tradition. And as you probably know ... bluegrass shows at Silver Moon are always a good time! Tickets are only $6 for that one, at the door only. 21+ and 9PM start.
Also in March ... the 4 Peaks crew is putting on a show on 3/21 at the Old Stone Church with Poor Man's Whiskey and Blue Turtle Seduction ... as a benefit for the summer festival ... so here's your chance to help support the 4 Peaks thing get rolling for this summer!
Also of note ... as you may know ... March 4th ... is the anniversary/birthday week for Portland's March Fourth Marching Band ... they're doing a string of celebratory shows at the Bossa Nova in Portland with a slew of collaborators. March 2nd-5th or something like that.
Also, the Yard Dogs have a date with Les Claypool on March 10th in Portland I believe. That would be a sick show to see! :)
lookin' forward to seeing everyone out there! ciao C.
