Had a fun weekend in Bristol, although we could have done with more people at The Blue Mountain Cafe for the Amphibian benefit party. Was good to meet some of the South-west's ambient stalwarts as well ... the next day I paid a suprise visit to the new Big Chill Bar (Bristol branch) and ended up playing music all day, before rushing of to get the last train back to Paddington. Nice place you got there .....

I don't normally post about my health on here, but something has been worrying me all summer. I started to lose hearing in my left ear, which is the one i usually use for the headphones when Dj-ing. It got a lot worse when I went to Moscow recently, and then at Festinho I was really impaired. SO I went to my GP for a hearing test, she examined my ears and pronounced them full of wax. I had them syringed, but nothing came out, it took 3 sessions of squirting plus a week of warm olive oil in the left ear and messy pillow. Suddenly it broke up on the third attempt and I could hear in stereo again. I am so pleased to be back to normal, I had convinced myself that I had permanently damaged my ears for life. Hurrah for the NHS as well! I almost enjoyed the weird sensation of warm water pounding on my eardrum ..... I recommend it to everyone, especially if you ever stick cotton buds in them, all that does is compact the cerumen down the business end.

This was my last festival of the summer, and its always a good one. Because it's so small its much more social than all the huge events nowadays, and this year they were lucky with the weather as well.

Played at 2.30am in a Gingerbread House in the Looking Glass Woods, no honest!
Seeing as everyone was dacing like maniacs I couldn't really play chillout so I played
some dance music - and I had a bag of vinyl for the first time in ages....

I have a big show coming up in Bristol, one of my favorite UK cities. Although I have been a few times to play at The Elbow Room recently, this is the first full ambient show I have done down there since 1994.

Available now at good supermarkets! And if you haven't got his Big Chill compilation 2xCD I wholeheartedly recommend it, absolutely packed with great tracks you probably never heard before. (The reggae selections are particularly tasty)

Here's the last 3 hours of my all-night set in Moscow, at the open-air restaurant in Gorky Park .....

Stayed in a crazy Vegas style hotel, the Kontor - with casinos, strip clubs and resident whores in the lobby, plus a restaurant on a ship floating in a huge water tank.

This is the last two hours of my set at the Big Chill Gala 2009, on Sunday night. I played on the new Stop The City stage which had a more experimental flavour than most places on site. I missed David Byrne, Gong and the fireworks which were all going on at 10pm,
but I did get to see Animat who were on before me, and were ace. Then I played the last four hours, and it got busier and busier as the headline bands finished until everyone
seemed to be up at this tiny stage, and there was no room to sit down any more.
Thanks to Mach V who did the visuals and also recorded the set above...

After that I had a couple of shots of Monkey Shoulder whiskey, and headed off to Viva La Vida where I played ambient till dawn, then went to Big Chill FM and did a radio show with San Francisco's favorite, DF Tram. He stayed with me for the week after and we went to Wales together for Freerotation, but thats another story....

Among my old tapes I found the whole of my set at Tantra Bar. This was the first Ambient show I ever did in Japan, and so it's very interesting. I've only uploaded the second half for now ..
