Current mood: curious
A few days ago I started thinking about what I wanted to do when the current NIN tour came to an end. I realized that it would be the perfect time to take The New Regime music to a live format and finally play some shows. To get some feedback on the prospect of touring I asked the following question via Twitter: "If I decided to tour with The New Regime in the fall, who would come?". I didn't exactly expect the reaction I got, but I was EXTREMELY pleased with it. So the next step was to figure out how to take this project that I started by myself and take it on the road continuing to things my way, DIY, and finance it all. Then I remembered all the times I had been asked "When will you release Coup on CD?" since it came out online last November. The reason why Coup was released digitally was because it made the most sense at the time. Although I was proud of my first ten songs, I didn't have very big expectations for it. So spending money on 5,000 CD's that could've very well spent the rest of time sitting in my garage if no one liked it seemed like a real waste. Here's what I'm thinking now... I'm thinking about putting together a really special physical release. 1 package, 1 price, with the potential following items (give or take): -CD -DVD with live performances, out-takes, whatever else I can scrape up -Vinyl -Booklet with live/recording photos taken by two of my good friends. -Limited edition, Hand Numbered, and signed by me (if that somehow sweetens the deal?) -Maybe some other goods. I'm open to ideas which is where you come in. All the capital raised from sales of this package will go to finance The New Regime on tour. I'm completely thinking out loud here and want your input. By messages of sorts, tweets, emails, comments, emails, phone calls, morse code, whatever works, let me know who's into this. I want to get moving as soon as possible. Thank you, Ilan

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 2, 2009 Los Angeles, CA – On Tuesday, March 10, The New Regime will premiere the first in a series of six live videos on imeem. Subsequently, imeem will exclusively debut a new video every Tuesday and Friday for three weeks on the artist’s imeem profile at http://www.imeem.com/thenewregime. As the largest social music service in the world, boasting more than 25 million visitors per month, imeem is the perfect platform to host the premieres. Using imeem’s embeddable widgets, fans can also share their favorite New Regime videos with friends and embed them on blogs, web sites, and profiles on Facebook, MySpace and other social networking services.
The videos represent tracks from the debut album, Coup. Each video was intentionally filmed in a live, non show setting at Swinghouse Studios in Los Angeles. According to front man, Ilan Rubin, “Rather than miming to a meaningless video treatment, I chose to utilize the video to highlight what a band should do best: play live.”
The New Regime video premieres on imeem are scheduled follows:
http://www.imeem.com/..thenewregime
March 10: “Order Restored”
March 13: “Take Control”
March 17: “The Collapse”
March 20: “Tap Dancing In a Minefield”
March 24: “This War Time”
March 27: “Haunt My Mind”
Touted as a “true solo project,” The New Regime consists solely of 20 year-old Ilan Rubin, drummer of Nine Inch Nails and previously Lostprophets. No mere time-keeper, adept multi-instrumentalist, Rubin, wrote and recorded every note of bass, drums, guitar, piano, and vocals on The New Regime’s 2008 debut, Coup. Playing in bands since the age of 9, Ilan has made his way into the Guinness Book of World Records for opening Woodstock ‘99 with his first band at age 11. The last three years alone has seen Ilan playing with Lostprophets on sold out tours and festivals all over the world, such as, Download, Reading/Leeds, Rock am Ring/Park, Fuji Rock, Summer Sonic, V Festival and more. Ilan joined Lostprophets at the age of 17 playing drums on part of their third #1 album, Liberation Transmission. While writing the latest Lostprophets album and sporadically touring with the band, Ilan began toying with the idea of The New Regime. After recording 10 eclectic tracks in his garage, The New Regime’s debut album Coup was released in November 2008.
Keeping to his DIY ethos, Rubin decided to put Coup out as a digital album and will be releasing it on his own without a label. “I didn’t want to wait around and get too many people involved in this project. I had a specific vision and felt I could carry this out by myself with my management.” While digital retailing lends itself to individual track downloading, Rubin insists that Coup is eclectic and is still a traditional album. “I feel all the songs on the album are strong on their own but I think that listening to the album as a whole is a completely different experience,” explains Ilan.
With a full schedule as the drummer of Nine Inch Nails and formerly Lostprophets, no tour schedule has been set at this time for The New Regime.
