Current mood:  artistic
Good news!  The Personals are back in black, dusting off some old tunes and working on some new ones.  We literally swept the rehearsal space, pushed some furniture around, and convinced our pal Dave to join us on bass.  It feels great to be playing again after such a long hiatus.

We're honored to be included on the bill for this excellent Holiday Party/Record Swap at the Hideout Theater on December 12th.  Join us, The Perilous Tide, the Militant Babies, the Moonlight Towers, and Grand Champeen for a night of rock & roll and holiday cheer (not to mention some kickass cover songs we're stoked about).  More details to come!

Thanks for the recent inquiries about potential show dates, but unfortunately The Personals are done playing shows.

If this status changes, I'll post updates here.

Thanks, and see you out and about in Austin.

Current mood:  happy

We've got some fun ones a-comin'. . .

Saturday, June 2nd:  After-party at the Scoot Inn for OKAY Mountain Gallery's opening reception that night.  Go check out the new show they're opening (reception 7-10 PM at their gallery, 1312 Cesar Chavez), then come over to Scoot Inn (at 4th and Navasota) for some cold beer and hot rock at 10:00.

Friday, June 15th:  We open for a GREAT Pittsburgh power-pop band, Black Tie Revue.  Check out their stuff; they're fantastic.  This show is not to be missed--who knows when these guys'll be back through Austin.  Flamingo Cantina.

Friday, June 29th:  The Hole in the Wall, with That's Mister to You, and a soon-to-be-announced headlining band.  We heart playing at the Hole.  We heart TMTY.

--July hiatus--recording!--

Friday, August 10th:  We are proud to help rock the CD release party for That's Mister to You's new LP!  YEAH!  Trophy's.

That is all.  Over and out.

Rock show tonight at Mohawk.  We play at 10 PM, with The Corto Maltese and The Politics, a couple of hot new Austin bands.

It's The Politics' CD release/tour kickoff party, and so it should be a fun show.

Low cover, cheap beer, new songs from us, and other exciting things await you.

Lots of news in the world of The Personals.  The most pressing:  our show this Monday--April 9th.

It's our first time on the Emo's stage and we're SUPER excited to help Dan Franke celebrate his birthday with a killer lineup of good rock and good friends.

Kicking it off will be The Bedazzlers, Dan's own band, playing Mighty Deerlick covers as well as some other covers--carefully selected music to drink beer by.  FUN.  He is backed by members of Militant Babies.

Next up is the Jackknife Brothers, with our friends Troy and Travis on stage together for the first time in 3 years.

The Militant Babies, the nicest guys in rock, play next, and if you haven't seen them yet, DO SO post haste.  They are amazing.

Last-- it is our Emo's debut, as well as the debut of our new bass player Erich von Erich.
A new lineup, a new club=debut-y.
Please come out and support us!

We just brought Erich on, and he's ready to rock and is a super nice guy.  Say hello to him.  Adam and I are sad to no longer be playing with Erin, who is living in Chicago.  Her hard work and great personality brought a lot to this band and earned us quite a number of fans.  Next time you're in Chicago, definitely check out Hidden Mitten, her band up in the great north.

EMO'S
MONDAY THE 9TH
SHOW STARTS AT 10 pm

Current mood:  hungry

I just noticed that we have three pages of subscribed readers for this blog!  Awesome!  I thought I should post something and say hello.

Thanks to all for coming to hang out with us during SXSW.  We had a lot of fun and are almost over our hangovers.  (Actually, I think this is just a new one I'm currently experiencing.)

The new songs were well-received, and we look forward to continuing to work on MORE new stuff, and new spins on old songs!  New stuff will take over the WORLD!   < insert crazy cackle >

Stay tuned for upcoming shows and/or other news.

Adios.

Kristen

Our last show of SXSW is tomorrow at Creekside Lounge, conveniently located at 606 E. 7th St., just east of Red River in the area of Side and Beauty and all those bars. The Creekside rules -- I have ended up there every afternoon of the fest so far -- because it has a really nice patio outside where we'll be playing, overloooking the creek (duh) and the bartender makes the perfect "last day of SXSW" drink (vokda soda and Emergen-C).

It's free and you don't need a wristband to get in.

So come rock and relax with us tomorrow afternoon! See you Saturday at 3!

LOVE & GUITARS,
Erin (and Adam and Kristen, AKA The Personals)

P.S.-- Full rock report on the blog next week! Stay tuned. :)
Monday, March 12, 2007
Hey, everyone! I'm dying to give you a report on the weekend of Central Texas shows, but SXSW waits for no (wo)man, so I'll have to promise you a big fat recap next week. In the meantime, I hope you're resting up and taking your vitamins (and naps!) -- the madness begins in just two days!

WORD TO THE WISE: The festival is not like normal bar/rock life. When they say we start at a certain time, we will. Get there a little early, or at least on time, or you will miss us. (And you don't want to do that -- response to the songs we've debuted at recent shows has been awesome!)

These are all free, no-wristband-needed shows (the best kind!), they're going to be a ton of fun -- and you never know who'll be there. For instance, the head music writer for the Chicago Reader was at our unofficial showcase at Trophy's last year and I didn't even know it until he contacted us to write a killer recommendation for our Chicago tour stop three months later. You just never know! Anyway, I hope those of you who are in Austin for the fest will come support us at one or more of the following:

*** WEDNESDAY, 3/14 @ Nunos on 6th ... 7 PM sharp! Come drink and rock with us before you start waiting in all those lame wristband lines. This is one of those free, record label-related events where we want your support to show all those jaded industry folks that rock and roll can still be fun. A Virgin Records rep is supposed to be evaluating all the bands.

*** WEDNESDAY, 3/14 @ Trophy's ... That's right! Two shows in one night! That's SXSW for ya. For the third year in a row, we kick off the madness at our beloved Trophy's w/ our friends in killer bands like Just Guns and The Unbearables. Be there! No wristband needed.

*** SATURDAY, 3/17 @ Creekside Lounge ... 3:30 PM set on the last day of SXSW, so come rock out a little more before you collapse ... Creekside is a great new Red River area bar, and you should check it out if you haven't already.

SEE Y'ALL ON WEDNESDAY!

LOVE & ROCK,
Erin (and Adam and Kristen)

BEST. AUSTIN. VIDEO. EVER.

See y'all sinners for SXSW! Personals shows on Wednesday (two of 'em!) and Saturday. Check our page for the details and see you soon!

LOVE & GUITARS,
Erin

P.S. -- Props to Ericka from Americka for bringing that video into my life.

P.P.S. -- Props to San Antonio and the Limelight and all the great people we met last night. I loved every minute of it and am still recovering. Who knew a Guided By Voices request would pop up?! :)
