Its insane to think that the Summer Tour is drawing to a close. With just a week of dates left, I am left to think about all of the amazing things that have happened this year. We played in a Pirate themed library, we drove across the South overnight, we had way more fun than anyone should legally be allowed to. It all has lead up to on thing though - the release of the sixth Harry Potter film - the Half Blood Prince.
We will be back home in sunny Los Angeles, California for the release of the film, and we have planned quite the party to go along with it. You wont want to miss it. Working with our good friends at Whimsic Alley (www.WhimsicAlley.com) , we have put together a celebration worthy of what is many people's favorite installment of the series.
The Remus Lupins will be joined by our friends in The Whomping Willows, Marked as his Equal and the Hermione Crookshanks Experience as we play an all day festival of wizardry and rock and roll at the Promenade at the Howard Hughes Center. Pottercast will also be doing a live podcast from the event, its going to be awesome.
In fact, the entire Howard Hughes Center mall will be transformed into Hogsmeade as restaurants offer HP themed foods, and concerts run all day long, preparing for the screenings of the new film, which start at 8pm! Melissa Anelli will be doing a signing of her Best Selling book "Harry, A History" at the Borders in the mall as well. Below is a schedule of the events that will make this the event in SoCal to be at:
HP Trivia games with prizes - 2:30 pm, 4:30 pm 7:30 pm, 9pm
LIVE Pottercast - 5pm
Marked as His Equal and Hermione Crookshanks Experience - 3:30pm and 8pm
The Whomping Willows and The Remus Lupins - 5pm and 9:30 pm
Melissa Anelli signing copies of her book - 6:30pm (at Borders)
Costume Contest 7pm and 11pm
So come on out, and make an evening out of it. You can get your tickets for the screenings at WhimsicAlley.com and from The Bridge theater at Howard Hughes center!
Make sure to get your tickets to the movie now, as they will sell out. An we will see you for the free sets by the Lupins at 5 and 9:30!!
Hugs and Chocolate.

Working on an album is a bit like raising a child. You set
out with certain goals in mind, you want to raise it to be a productive member
of societ….Wait a second. I have no idea what its like to raise a child. What
do I know how to do? Ok. Lemme try again.
Working on an album is like making a delicious bowl of
guacamole. Yes. This is way better. Its like making a giant bowl of guacamole
for a big party that you’re having. You know what the base is going to be. You
need to take a look through all the avocadoes that you have and choose the best
ones, then mash them up and youre off to a good start. Then you need to start
adding elements, salsa, lemon, fresh cut tomatoes, onion, chives…it takes a lot
to make a really good bowl of guac. And so it is when you work on an album. You
bring in songs and the songs change and take new shape through the recording
process, they develop new personality as you add fresh instruments to them,
they shine with their own particular personality and taste by the time that
you’re through.
Today, I am sitting outside, by the pool, about to record the final vocals for the newest
Remus Lupins album “The Rest is Silence”. The first song we tracked drums and
bass for was “Lovely Lily”, the album’s opening tune, and it will be the last
song that we record vocals for. It has a sort of wonderful circularity to it.
That said, the record should be done and mixed in the next
few days, and sent off to the duplicators. The album should be printed and
ready for mass consumption by May 29th, so I think that’s a pretty
good date to release it. The official release of the CD will be a show in Los
Angeles, and the CD will be available for purchase at all of our summer tour
stops as well. If you aren’t going to make it out to one of our shows this
summer (What the heck?? Come to the show…) then you should pre order one. After
we leave for tour on June 5, no CDs will be sent out until we are home from
tour, so if you want a copy of The Rest is Silence, you need to order it
between now and then.
When the album is released, I will post another blog with a
bit more in depth discussion of the songs, but for now, here are the songs that
will appear on the record:
Lovely Lily
The Marauders Worst Memory
Don’t Duel
War is Over
Artwork at Malfoy Manor
Tomorrow Starts Tonight
Loose Lips
The Whole World is in Love with You
Precious Days
Perfect for Each Other
Graduation Day
The Wedding
At Hogwarts
Imprisoned Lightning (Potterwatch)
Revolution is Now
The Rest is Silence
16 tracks. As always, we endeavor to give you as many songs
as we can pack onto a CD, and give the wizard rock listener the most for the
money they generously spend on our album.
Pre orders are open – tomorrow morning.

Awards season in Hollywood is in March. Everyone gets dolled up in designer dresses and sharp tuxes to watch each other be handed gold statues and give drawn out speeches. As usual, in Wizard Rock, we do things a little differently. For the third year running, Wizard Rock's most noted and respected News Site has announced the Wizard Rock People's Choice Awards. Unlike those red carpet photo ops, the fans of Wizard Rock get to decide the winners of each of the many categories that the Wizrocklopedia puts up for a vote. From the very start, the Wizard Rock community gets to be involved, from the nominations all the way through the awards themselves. Those nominations opened today. You are likely going to see a lot about this from me, both on these blogs as well as on youtube (www.youtube.com/theremuslupins) and twitter (twitter.com/theremuslupins) because I am a big believer in letting people know how you feel. Im the sort of person who tells those I love that I love them at every chance, and doesnt hold back acclaim when I think someone deserves praise. I think that these awards are a chance for the community to do just that - to say to the bands that they enjoy, but may not get to see or talk to all the time "I really love what you do, and I appreciate the hard work you put into it." I know that when I submit my nominations, thats what I will be doing - for both well known and less prominent acts. "Ok ok, enough with the oratory flair, how do we vote?" Well, disembodied voice, I am glad you asked. Its pretty easy. You just head to this link : INSTRUCTIONS and read up on the process of voting. Then, you can head here to VOTING BOOTH and submit your nominations for each category. Its pretty direct and self explanatory. The nominations are open until April 30th, so make sure to head over there and vote soon. I am pleased to say that we are eligible for a fair number of nominations, so if you liked what we did over the last year - from Nevermind the Furthermore, to our Tours to the release of our first Music Video (though this wont be eligible until next year...) - please let the Wizrocklopedia know. I am about to fill out my nominations form, and I cant wait to help honor some of the people who I have found so inspiring over the past year. More news on Tour and Other amazing things soon Hugs and Chocolate. x

Feb 23 There is something very comforting about the way Myspace works. Maybe its that it has become so ubiquitous that its no longer neccessary to ever ask if someone has a Myspace page, its assumed, and then also it is inferred that they have a Facebook. It may have something to do with the way that people write to you and want to be friends with you, when you get messages like "Neville Rocks! [FTW] wants to be your friend!" I like that. I want to be friends with that person. I especially like when the message then continues, and lets you know that this users real name is... Neville Rocks!! I like it. And I like that there are parents out there courageous enough to give their children unique and daring names. On twitter, things scare me. You arent friends with someone, you FOLLOW them. You stalk them through dark alleys and creep around, hearing about what they are eating and who they are out with. With that in mind, I'd like to invite you to follow our band through those dark alleys, to shows and parties and stuff - and to track us along the path of recording our new album, and touring across the country. Thats right, we have a twitter now. Our username is TheRemusLupins (very creative, I know..) - so go ahead and follow us The Remus Lupins on TwitterThere is a whole lot to catch you up on, and hopefully the twitter will help with that, but here is some of the big news thats come down the road in the last few weeks. I am sure that by now you have heard of MyLeaky, the Leaky Cauldron's swankified new social network for HP fans. Its pretty awesome I think. Its all the excellence of facebook, and all of the rad of Leaky combined. I loves it a little bit. You can sign up and get points for your house in the house cup, and make new friends, and talk about Potter, writing on eachothers Parchments, and sending Owls. Go check it out! www.MyLeaky.com. We have a page on there as well, which you can visit Right Here -Lupins on My Leaky. Sign up and become a fan. As the weeks go by, we will be putting up exclusive tracks for My Leaky users, so dont miss it. There is a bit of buzz about one of the new compilations that has come out recently, a double disc album put together by Megan of the Wizard Rockumentary and Mark of Marked as His Equal. Its an excellent record called "From Beneath These Ashes", and all proceeds from it are going to a very worthy charity - Save the Children. The album features new tracks from Draco and the Malfoys, Tonks and the Aurors, The Remus Lupins and tons more. You can check out and add the myspace page for the comp at www.myspace.com/AshesWrock. Please have a listen and get a copy when theyre available. So I think were all caught up. Twitter - TheRemusLupins, check out MyLeaky and check out myspace.com/AshesWrock. You'll be happy you did. If youre in LA, make sure to come out to the Roxy this Wednesday night, where we are playing at 7:45 pm with our good friends Kingsize. Dont miss it! Hugs and Chocolate. x

Heya Everyone. I know that many of you have been really interested in the Harry Potter Alliance in the last couple years, as I have, and have been looking for a way to be more involved in the amazing programs that they work on. Right now, the HPA is teaming with STAND to do something really amazing for the people of Darfur and Burma. Its called STANDfast, and it requires almost nothing of you, and could mean a world of difference to those in need. The idea is that we give up some comfort of ours for just one day- December 3rd - coffee, soda, candy, a magazine ... anything really - and instead donate that money to STANDfast, which will be coordinating efforts to help those in Darfur and families in Burma. The $3 that you would spend on a latte could protect a woman in danger at a refugee camp. The $5 you would have spent on the new copy of People magazine could go to help get radios to protect the oppressed people of Burma. Its such a small sacrifice for such a great cause. The way I think about it is : How can we not? How can we not forgo one small pleasure if it would mean saving the life of another person. This is the real mission of Dumbledore's Army, and the sacrifices that we will make participating in STANDfast are so miniscule compared to those being made by many across the world, that there is really no reason to not cowboy up and show our support in this, the most tiny of ways. This small gesture could mean a world of difference to those in need. This is a chance to be a part of something greater than just yourself. To talk about this, we are having an open meeting of Dumbledore's Army tonight! It is essentially one huge episode of POTTERWATCH!! I love rebel radio. You can call in to POTTERWATCH tonight and hear from Best Selling Author Melissa Anelli of Leaky, Awesome Rocking Rocker Paul DeGeorge of Harry and the Potters, Hope Infusing Changer Andrew Slack - head of the HPA, and me....the Howlin Werewolf of The Remus Lupins. The call starts tonight- December 2nd at 8.30 Eastern/ 5.30 Pacific. Be sure to be on the call at 712-432-1001 and then enter the following code: 453368027. (If you have any problems you can contact "hpapotterwatch" on skype and they'll help ya out.) You can check out hpalliance.org/civilianprotection for more information on this very worthy cause. I look forward to talking to many of you on the Potterwatch conference call tonight! This is something that is really important to the Wizard Rock community, and I know I stand with everyone from Harry and the Potters, Draco and the Malfoys, the Whomping Willows when I say that the HPA is a priority, and that this program is a really worthy one that we should be participating in and fighting for. -Alex
