Almost two years since our last tour, The Slip is coming together in June and July to perform a handful of shows on the east and west coasts. We have been on hiatus, making music in our respective cities, enjoying the detours. There may be additional shows here and there as we begin to craft our next album. Thank you all for your tremendous and endless support. -BAM

All three members of The SLIP will be embarking on a national tour this fall as the backing band to their friend, the lovely and talented Sonya Kitchell, who's album 'This Storm' [link to buy] was released September 2nd on Decca/Velour (Universal), and is the follow-up to her critically-acclaimed debut 'Words Came Back to Me'. Brad and Andrew worked closely with Sonya recording the record over the winter in Kingston NY under the production wizardry of Grammy award-winner Malcolm Burn (Patti Smith, Peter Gabriel, Iggy Pop, Daniel Lanois, etc). To be clear, these shows will be Sonya Kitchell headline dates with The SLIP appearing onstage at the same time in the same place with her in support of her brilliant voice and songs. Click here for full tourdates and to get your tickets before they're gone.

Brad will be performing solo to open the majority of the shows with Sonya this fall in support of his new album of instrumental solo acoustic guitar music, 'The Fall Apartment', dropping September 16th on the venerated Tompkins Square Records. The album, which was recorded mostly in Brad's Montreal apartment, is an authentic and intimate set of modern impressionistic original compositions, rounded out by such diverse covers as "Maria La O" by legendary Cuban musician Ernesto Lecuona, Nirvana's "Heart Shaped Box," and "Gin Gin' by the gypsy jazz combo Le Trio Ferret. Click here to buy the record. Check here for the list of shows Brad will be opening this Fall.

Everyone's favorite supergroup Surprise Me Mr. Davis (The SLIP + Nathan Moore) will be ringing in 2009 with some good friends (TBA very soon) right at the heart of it all in Times Square NYC at the legendary B.B. King's. This will be a late show starting after the ball drops, so if you're planning on seeing My Morning Jacket a few blocks away at MSG (a great idea), better pace yourself and make it a double-header. An additional Northeast show has been added to round out the run and will be announced very soon, so stay tuned...

After having played a slew of Westcoast and Northeast shows throught the Spring and Summer of 2008, Surprise Me Mr. Davis spent a few blistering days recording in Burlington VT tracking demos of a bunch of new songs...holy shit. Shortly after, while in Brooklyn for their Union Hall gig, Davis took an afternoon to make a video at Marc's apartment with the dashing Karina Mackenzie for one of the new songs, 'I'm No Good At All'. Check it out on YouTube already.

Having just finished a winter tour throughout the Eastern US with Wintersleep, Earl Greyhound, Arizona, Brighton MA and more (and then quickly following this up with an early spring jaunt down the West Coast with Holy Fuck) The SLIP will be heading back out yet again in early June for three weeks on the road with Bobby Bare Jr. So get psyched for a great tour that winds its way from Wakarusa to Bonnaroo to NYC, Boston, and beyond… Bobby, whose career has included collaborations with Silver Jews and Frank Black (and whose backing band on his last full-length also goes by another name that you may recognize, "My Morning Jacket") - will be opening the shows with his road-tested tales of flat-chested girls, bionic hearts, and monks at the disco. This is going to be fun. Get your tickets ahead of time. More details on the Tour page.
