Please let us know if you will be attending with children, and what ages your children are, so we can plan accordingly.

Hello friends and family of Stone City--

Here are the details on our upcoming work party. Shannon's been working on this big project alone and really needs your help and support, so we hope you will consider making some time to come out and help and see the new developments.

FIRST FALL WORK PARTY

WHEN: Saturday September 12 starting at 11 am or as soon as you arrive, through Sunday Septemver 13, ending at 6 pm or thereabouts.

PROJECTS: We'll likely be focusing on finishing the building addition to the Guest House as our main priority so we can get this done in time for fall events, starting with the CAYA Harvest Home festival the very next weekend. There will also be the usual upkeep and cleaning of cabins and spaces for those who can't to heavier work.

We will update you with more details on the specific projects and tasks the week before the work party.

WHAT TO BRING:
--Work gloves, eye protection, and sun protection
--Hammers, drills, construction tools
--Cleaning supplies are always helpful too

THINGS TO KNOW: As always, there will be light jobs you can do so please don't feel you need to stay away if your health prevents you from doing heavier work. You can help with cleaning projects, or just feeding the rest of the volunteers. The more the merrier! We'll have the hot tub running for an evening soak after the work is done.

SLEEPING SPACE: There are two beds in the Guest House, and you are also welcome to use campers/cabins/boats, or bring your tent if you like. There are no camping/site use fees during work parties. Hot showers are available at the Guest House.

FOOD: We will provide lunch Saturday and Sunday *IF* you RSVP so we know how many to plan for!

Potluck dinner Saturday evening around sunset - please bring something to share. There are no restrictions on what kind of food to bring, we have both meat-eaters and vegetarians among us. You are welcome to use the Guest House kitchen. There are a couple of barbecue grills you can use if you want to.

PLEASE RSVP to let us know you can come; it is much, much easier to plan projects when we have some idea of the size of the workforce. Please feel free to email with any questions too.

Blessings to all and we hope to see you soon!

Morpheus

Dear friends & family --

We hope you've been having a beautiful summer. We've been quiet for a while as we busied ourselves with construction projects here during Stone City's summer off-season. We are now gearing up for a busy fall schedule and have lots of news and new event information for you!

NEW BUILDING ADDITIONS
Our big project this summer has been installing an expansion on to the Guest House in the main campground. This addition doubles the space in the main room of the Guest House, and will provide a much larger interior space for many things: altars and library space, a place to come and be cool out of the sun, workshop and gathering space, and indoor temple space for those times when the weather doesn't permit outdoor ritual. (Remember last Samhain?) We expect the new space will be set up and ready for use by our first fall gathering in September.

We've also recently acquired several new cabin/campers and sheds, which will be very useful for private cabin space and storage.

HARVEST HOME FESTIVAL IN SEPTEMBER
We are excited to announce a new fall festival coming to Stone City this year. CAYA (Come As You Are) Coven will be holding its Harvest Home Magick & Music Festival to celebrate Mabon here at Stone City. This festival is open to everyone, and you are all welcome to attend. CAYA is a vibrant community emerging in the East and South Bay areas, offering open Pagan rituals and Pagan clergy training.

Here is some of the info on the Harvest Home Festival from CAYA:
Witches and Wizards, Priests and Priestesses, Pagan Parties and Magical Minions of every stripe, Come As You Are Coven proudly invites you to attend our first-ever camping extravaganza!

Sept. 18, 19 & 20, 2009
3 days of workshops, rituals, and musical performances by CAYA clergy and local performers, outdoors at a beautiful pagan sanctuary where magick and wonder abound! The workshops, rituals, and performances are going to be soulful, beautiful, and inspiring.  In true CAYA fashion, we'll be offering Interfaith, eclectic rituals and workshops, so there will be something for everyone.

You can get all the details about this event and register from CAYA's website: http://www.cayaharvesthome.com/
General info about CAYA Coven is here: http://cayacoven.org/home.html
You can also get info on this event at the Sacred Well, a magickal and spiritual shop in Oakland on Lake Merritt.

FALL EVENTS AT STONE CITY
We have two fall work parties coming up, in addition to the Harvest Home and Samhain Festivals. Please come help support your Pagan sanctuary! We have lots of new projects that we'll be needing your help with this fall.

We'll post more details on projects as we get closer to the dates. For now, here are the work party dates for fall:
September 12-13
October 3-4

NEW DATE AND VENUE FOR STONE CITY BENEFIT
Last year's fall Benefit Show was so successful that we immediately outgrew the venue and have moved to a new space for this year's benefit. We also have a new date, later in the fall to allow more time for planning. Here's the info for this year's benefit:
Sunday, November 22, 6-10 pm, at the Humanist Hall in Oakland, California.
Please note the new date, as this event had previously been scheduled in September.

We are planning the event right now and expect to have an exciting lineup of local Pagan talent for you, including Sharon Knight and Winter of Pandemonaeon with new music for you, gothic ritual belly dance priestess Anaar, the Tribal Moon dance troupe with mesmerizing tribal belly dance, kickass grooves from DJ Speakeasy, and more! We'll be sending out another email soon with all of the details.

Volunteers will be wanted as with last year, to help with setup, cleanup, serving drinks, charity sales, and manning (or womaning) the door. Do please let us know if you can assist!

Thanks to all of you for your continued support and engagement, and we look forward to seeing you soon!

blessings--
Morpheus

Spring is gorgeous on the land and Beltaine is coming soon! Here are the details and registration info on our Stone City Beltaine Festival.  Please pre-register - we rely on registration money to pay up-front costs to put this together, and also do need to get an idea of the size of group to expect. I'll need to know how many ribbons to hang on the May Tree!

Also, we do have another work party coming up next weekend, and I'll be sending out another email with the details on that.

A note on the film project - Many of you met Alex Mar last fall, and she will be with us again this Beltaine to finish filming for the documentary film project. The camera crew will be again on site during the festival and will be working with willing folks to capture images of us as a community in festival space, and in circle before and after the ritual. Please note - we will only allow filming during the ritual IF all participants present are willing and comfortable. If you do not wish to be filmed, please don't feel you need to stay away from the festival - you do not have to appear on film and we can arrange to accommodate your needs. Alex and her two assistants are very friendly, and very flexible about people's varying comfort levels with the camera.

Stone City Beltaine Festival
April 25-26, 2009
Ritual collaboration with Morpheus Anima, Shannon Moore, Sam Webster, Tina Beachy, Jasmine and Neil Kelly, and (we hope) you.
You are welcome to arrive any time starting Friday evening the 24th.
Festival ends at 3:00 pm on Sunday the 26th.

Beltaine Fire Ritual
Saturday 7:00 pm in the Henge.
We celebrate the opening of the Gates of Life and the upwelling of life force that is Spring. In this ritual we will light the sacred Bel-fire and make offerings to the spirits and the Gods, invoking Brigid and Lugh as Gods of rising light, fire, and creative power. We will use an ancient rite of anointing and marking the Beltaine stone, pouring power into the stone to help open the gateway between the worlds, and bringing forth the creative fire of the life force into this world and into ourselves.

Following the formal ritual, celebration, song, fire-leaping, and feasting in the Henge into the night. Please feel free to bring your drums and musical instruments, and please bring a contribution for the feast.

Maypole Dance
Sunday 11:00 am at the May Tree.
In the presence of the Gods, we offer libations to feed our living icon of the Lord of Life, the May Tree, followed by dancing the Maypole in celebration of the erotic interweaving of the dance of creation.

THINGS TO BRING
~Fresh flowers for the Maypole and ritual circles
~Potluck feast contribution for Saturday night's Beltaine feast. Tables will be
placed in the Henge and you can bring your feast items before circle begins, or you can go and fetch them after the formal portion of the ritual is completed.
~Drums and musical instruments for celebration after ritual.
~Flashlights! Our Beltaine this year falls at the New Moon. This makes for
spectacular stargazing but you will need your flashlight!
~Clothing for warm or cool weather. Nighttime temperatures can go to upper
40s/low 50s. Daytime temperatures are likely to be in the low 80s but can vary considerably.
~Camping gear - If you plan on tent camping, bring a good warm sleeping bag. See below for details on guest house and cabins.

ACCOMMODATIONS
We have plenty of camping space. Limited indoor sleeping space is also available in the Guest House, first-come first-served. The Guest House has a queen futon bed and some floor space which is available on a first-come first-served basis. Please bring your own blankets or sleeping bags. Several campers, trailers and boats are available as private cabins. Most have bed space for 2-4 people each. There is an additional cost for reserving one of these cabins - see below under cost info. Please email us to reserve one of
these private cabins.

Hot showers, bathtub, composting toilet, and kitchen facilities are available to all in the Guest House. Please note the guest kitchen has a supply of dishes and some cooking pots and implements, but if you need anything specific please plan to bring it. PLEASE plan to help clean the Guest House kitchen if you use it at all.

COST
$25/one night or $35/two nights, per person for adults; kids and teenagers are free and welcomed with a parent or guardian.
This registration cost covers attendance at all open festival events, camping space, use of the guest house and guest kitchen, showers etc.

If you want to reserve one of the private campers/trailers/boats, the additional cost is $15-25 per night depending on which one you want. Note this is per cabin, NOT per person, so it's cheaper to share. Please email for details.

Registration payments can be made via PayPal for credit card or debit, to thestonecity@gmail.com; or you can mail your registration to the address below.

Please include a note with your registration to let us know when you'll be arriving and how many will be with you (including kids) so we know how many ribbons to get for the Maypole. And of course, if the payment includes reservation for a cabin.

You are also welcome to add donations on to the registration total; we are a 501c3 nonprofit organization and always need your help for improving the land.

Many thanks and we look forward to celebrating the season of light and beauty with you!

This weekend's work party turned out quite productive in spite of
ending early because of rain. We had a great crew Saturday and
accomplished several things: disassembled the goat fence and trailer,
sorted materials for disposal/recycling; cleared a lot of remaining
brushwood and piled for chipping; set up the new altar for Aphrodite's
shrine and collected beautiful stones for a floor; and completed some
final work on the Labyrinth, adding standing stones at the two
entrances, and a meditation bench and altar in the center. THANK YOU to
the fabulous volunteers, old friends and new, for showing up and
putting work in with a smile.

Please note - We are changing the date of our next work party.
Since it was scheduled Equinox weekend which conflicts with some ritual
plans, plus many of our community will be at a friend's birthday
get-together, we figured we should just change the date so more people
may be available to come help. New date for the next work party is
MARCH 14-15, two weeks from now. Hope you can make it! We'll send out
more details as the date comes closer and we have a clear idea what
projects will be on the list.

Thanks again and look forward to seeing you this spring!
Morpheus

Hi everyone,
Here are the details for this weekend's work party, for those who aren't on our email list yet.

YES, it's still happening - happily, the weather forecast is looking brighter for the weekend, and we should have cloudy but mild weather.

WHEN: Saturday 2/28, starting at 11:00 am through Sunday 3/1, ending at 4:00 pm
Please try to arrive early enough to get settled in by 11:00 Saturday if you can, so we can get everyone organized for projects, and maximize our use of the daylight.

PROJECTS: Projects for this weekend may include, depending on volunteer group size:
--Improving drainage for the boat-cabins
--Fixing/improving outdoor showers
--Installing extra refrigerator in Guest House kitchen
--Installing new flooring tiles in Guest House kitchen
--Clearing/dismantling goat pens from brush management project
--Work on new Aphrodite shrine
--Upkeep & cleaning in cabins

THINGS TO BRING: Please bring shovels if you have them. Work gloves are always needed, as are cleaning supplies. We should have most of the other tools needed.

THINGS TO KNOW: As always, there are light jobs you can do so please don't feel you need to stay away if your health prevents you from doing heavier work. You can help with cleaning projects, or just feeding the rest of the volunteers. The more the merrier!

There is some sleeping space in the Guest House, and you are also welcome to use camper-cabins, or bring your tent if you like. Boat-cabins are not ready for use this season yet - that will be one of the projects we'll be working on.

There are a couple of barbecue grills you can use if you want to - but you may need to bring charcoal.

PLEASE RSVP to let us know you can come; it is much, much easier to plan projects when we have some idea of the size of the workforce. Please feel free to email with any questions too.

DIRECTIONS - If you need directions, just write us at thestonecity AT gmail DOT com.

Thanks and look forward to seeing you there!

Hello me hearties,
Just a note to give you some more detail and a reminder about events that Stone City will be involved in at PantheaCon, next weekend in San Jose. (www.pantheacon.com).
This year Stone City will have a hosting suite on the 9th floor, where we will be holding various events and activities and we hope to see you there. The room number will be printed in the program.
Friday night – Pandemonaeon show and Pirate Party
Pandemonaeon, the gypsy-gothic Pagan rock band created by our friends and supporters Sharon Knight and Winter, will be performing Friday night at PantheaCon, along with special guest T. Thorn Coyle, and gothic belly dance beauty Anaar. To help celebrate the return of Pandemonaeon and their upcoming CD release, Dangerous Beauty, Stone City will be hosting the Pandemonaeon Pirate Revel in our suite, following the concert. Concert at 9 pm, down in the ballroom area - dress in your sexiest black boots for Pandemonaeon’s Black Boot Brigade!
Pirate Revel 10:30 pm – 2 am, in the Stone City suite, 9th floor. Please bring libations to share!
Saturday, 3-5 pm – Ancient Ways Festival Meet & Greet
Stone City will be host again this year to the Ancient Ways Festival in May. During PantheaCon, we'll be hosting a meet-and-greet mixer in our suite to promote the Festival. Please join the Festival organizers and community, to assist in creating the Seeds of Change that will be the Ancient Ways Festival 2009.  Glenn Turner, festival Creatrix , and the Ancient Ways Festival planning committee will be there to speak to you, along with T. Thorn Coyle who is the Priestess for the Saturday Night main ritual at the Festival.
Sunday, 9 am – Feri Witchcraft and the Otherworld
Morpheus will be teaching a workshop on Otherworld experience and its role in Feri Tradition witchcraft… The witch as an intermediary between worlds; building relationships and opening gateways into the Otherworld; becoming a conduit for Faery power; the Fetch and Faery seership; Otherworldly truth and the Black Heart of Innocence. San Carlos/San Juan rooms.
Sunday, 7-11 pm – Stone City Gypsy Lounge Benefit Party
The theme of this fundraising party will be sensual delights, so we'll have belly dancers, live drumming and music by talented performoers from within our community as well as DJ tribal/trance music. We will be serving wine and fine elixirs, fruit, chocolate, etc. As this is a fundraiser we hope everyone who comes can donate $5 or more, whatever you can/want to. There will be a massage practitioner who volunteered to give out a short massage to anyone donating over $20.
Look forward to seeing you there!
FYI, in case you were wondering... Stone City funds will not be used to pay the expense of the PantheaCon hotel suite; we and our suite-mates will be covering the cost out of our own pockets.

Hello friends,

Now that Equinox has passed, Samhain is coming up soon. We'll be posting more information later with details about the ritual aspects of the festival, but I wanted to give you the basic info for the Stone City Samhain Festival so folks can start registering and planning to celebrate with us. Please save the date and please do pre-register or at least RSVP, as this helps us greatly in being able to prepare for the festival.

A note on the film project - Alex Mar will be with us again for Samhain this year, to continue filming for the documentary film project. Please note that due to the deep and personal nature of Samhain ritual we do NOT plan to allow any filming during the ritual itself. The camera crew will be on site during the festival and will be working with willing folks to capture footage of us as a community in festival space, and in circle before and after the ritual, but for the ritual itself the camera will be shut off and away from the circle so we can all focus on the spiritual work. If you do not wish to be filmed, please don't feel you need to stay away from the festival - you do not have to appear on film and we can arrange to accommodate your comfort level with the project.

Stone City Samhain Festival
November 1-2, 2008

Samhain Ritual - Saturday November 1, 5:30 pm.
We open the Western Gate, inviting the Beloved and Mighty Dead to dance with us on the night the veil thins.
Closing Ritual - Sunday November 2, 11:00 am.
Festival closes at 2:00 pm on Sunday.

Please note: Early arrival Friday evening is by arrangement only. A private group will be using the Henge for their Samhain ritual Friday evening October 31, and we need to respect their privacy. The public festival opens Saturday morning November 1. If you need to arrive Friday night because of travel considerations or you are coming with a member of the other group, please contact us for arrangements.

THINGS TO BRING
Mementos and images of your Dead, objects and images for the altars. Be aware that lightweight objects like photographs can blow away, and bring something to weight them down with.
Warm clothing - Nighttime temperatures are expected in the mid 30s - low 40s.
Camping gear - If you plan on tent camping, bring a good warm sleeping bag. See below for details on guest house and cabins.
Food & cooking gear - Meals are up to the individual, with the exception of ritual meals. See below for details on guest kitchen availability.
Flashlights! Samhain falls near the New Moon this year, so the night will be very dark.

ACCOMMODATIONS
We have plenty of camping space. Indoor sleeping space is also available in the Guest House, first-come first-served. The Guest House has two queen futon beds and floor space for several more to sleep inoors, on a first-come first-served basis. Please bring your own blankets or sleeping bags. Hot showers, bathtub, composting toilet, and kitchen facilities are available. Please note the guest kitchen is not fully stocked with all utensils and equipment - there are some cooking pots and a supply of paper plates, cups etc, but if you need any special implements for cooking you plan to do, you need to bring them.

Several campers, trailers and boats are available as private cabins. Most have bed space for 2-4 people each. There is an additional cost for reserving one of these cabins - see below under cost info. Please check with us in advance to reserve one of these private cabins.

Space in the residents' house is reserved for people volunteering to help with festival work. We have a few specific help tasks you can take on: Registering and greeting new arrivals; setup, cleanup, and periodic checking of guest facilities. You must arrange with us in advance if you wish to help out as staff and have bed space reserved in the residents' house.

COST
$25/one night or $35/two nights, per person for adults; kids and teenagers are free and welcomed.

I apologize that we don't have photos and details on these listed on the website yet, but if you want details just email us.
Registration payments can be made via PayPal for credit card or debit, to thestonecity@gmail.com; or you can mail your registration to the address below.

Please include a note with your registration to indicate:
--WHO the registration covers
--WHEN, i.e. which night or nights of the festival
--And of course if the payment includes reservation for a cabin.
You are also welcome to add donations on to the registration total; we are a 501c3 nonprofit organization and appreciate any and all help.

Many thanks and we look forward to celebrating the season of darkness with you!

Morpheus
