In keeping with the "Teenager" theme, the band want to see pictures of you all when you were young. We are expecting dodgy haircuts and bad fashion! See if you can guess which band member has already uploaded a picture of themselves...!
Of course, we wouldn't expect you to do this for nothing, so the winner of the bands favourite picture will recieve a personalised album, using YOUR picture on the cover.
So, c'mon be brave and get uploading!

We shot the video for Nothing Changes Around Here on Brighton Pier. I believe it's just been uploaded onto YouTube. The idea was all Kinga's (the director) and it was an inspired choice. English sea side towns have that great mixture of innocence and melancholy (which was perfect for the song). Sad and lonely yet full of old fashioned merry go rounds, candy floss and lights. Blur and Morrissey often referenced these places and I guess it was also a nod to that. As it turns out, we're also playing lots of these British seaside towns on this current tour. As a result we're walking on stage to Morrissey's Everyday Is Like Sunday most nights. Most of the venues on this UK jaunt are deliberately off the beaten path. Last night we played in Lancaster Library (cue humorously propped books on stage i.e. song-writing for dummies, piano — a beginners guide etc…). On Friday we play Full Sutton maximum security prison at the request of it's deputy governor, Gareth Sands. It houses some of the most difficult and dangerous criminals in the country. It's a few miles outside York. Russell, our agent, reassuringly mentioned in the email with the offer that they've only had two serious full scale riots in the past. I really hope the gig goes well and that they enjoy our songs. The Wireless Festivals were fun. We woke up in the bus on-site at Hyde Park. We could have been in Reading. Air were great. So were The Bees. Album tracks can be hard work at festivals let alone brand new songs. Never the less, an out-of-tune guitar for Big Sur aside, we pluckily reintroduced ourselves to the festival circuit. We kissed some babies and then rushed to the Proud Gallery in Camden to play our second gig of the night. At half eleven that night we almost cancelled it. Half the gear hadn't arrived from the festival. The other half wasn't behaving itself. It was a chaotic mess. It was easily one of our best gigs. The Leeds leg of the Wireless Festivals was a typical British outdoor affair. Leeds had been poured down upon for four days. It was extremely wet and muddy. Festivals without the sun are a true test of the human spirit. Thankfully the northern crowd were great despite the elements and responded enthusiastically to the The Midnight Choir and Nothing Changes Around Here. The contrast between the London and northern leg was marked. Gone were the free skin products and sun glasses. Gone were the free hair cuts. Also gone was the glossy wooden finish to the backstage toilets and framed random pictures of men in top hats hovering over the sinks. Conor

We've had a nice week travelling around, starting with Brighton. We shot the video for our first single Nothing Changes Around Here on Monday. Usually videos can be pretty boring, but the weather was nice, and we managed to enjoy our day on the pier, much more enjoyeable than being stuck in a studio. Our next stop was Swansea for the first date on our tour, we had a really enthusiastic crowd, and it felt nice to be playing some of the new songs. Next we arrive in Bath, for our first ever show there at Bath Moles.
Lots of great bands have been there including Blur, Radiohead, the Charlatans and even the Smiths. Bath is a lovely town to walk around, but it's the last time we'll take a reccomendation from Ben on what a good Indian restaurant is! We had a couple of days off in London, and managed to see Ash play at the Proud Gallery in Camden, it was a great show with lovely intimate feel to the Venue. We're playing there on Thursday night after our show at Wireless in Hyde Park. We played Margate last night, and managed to try some more new songs for the first time, which went down really well.

And now Nice, France seems so far away. We've had busy few weeks planning the tour, album artwork and videos. For the first time in a very long while, the Road, and the new album is only just around the corner. We still have to pinch ourselves that it's been two and a half years , but when you're neck deep in a record that takes every last drop of sweat and blood from you that's what happens, and it then only feels a moment. We're also looking forward to the festival circuit again, and it'll be a good chance to catch up with friends and other bands, as it's been a while. Especially Oxegen in Ireland again, T in the Park and V. I'm personally looking forward to seeing Air at the Wireless in London, and The Who in Knowlesy Park too. We had a really enjoyable night on Sunday in the Lock Tavern in Camden, London. Clash magazine organised an acoustic show that was not exactly typical acoustic and intimately quiet fare. Hundreds of people packed it to near fire capacity, and the heat and sweat was almost unbearable. Space was at a premium, so every table, chair, bar stool, bar countertop, door frame and shoulder was used by everyone for the best view. We played four new songs and four old ones, and to be totally honest, we all got a fantastic feeling from hearing the new ones be received so well, and in such a setting, as it was the first time we had ever played some of them; so to everyone there, a massive thank you from us all. It's certainly put the fire behind us now for the tour which starts next week.. (We've privately called the tour the Prohibition tour, for reasons that we can't go into here.., but i'll leave it to your collective imaginations.) Certain magazine members in their search for elevation, stood on the bar dishwasher for the gig, and managed to go through the top of it by the end. Alas who would have thought that it wasn't made for jumping up and down on. Others put on bartop dancing performances that the girls at Coyote Ugly would have been proud of. Clash put a link and some photos up at http://www.clashmagazine.com/the-thrills-rock-the-lock/. The night went on for quite a while, and many friends and Clash people ended up back in our hotel room, garnering a new Thrills record of four complaints in two hours for the revelry and noise. Alas some people just cant deal with the lovely Dusty Springfield at full volume at three in the morning. Bloody philistines. So we're off to shoot the video of the new single "Nothing Changes Round Here" next week in the south east of England, and I'll put up some pictures of the shoot on line as soon it's done. Just saw Jindabyne last week which was amazing, Gabriel Byrne is phenomenal in it as always; and laughed all the way home on the plane to Dublin reading the Banksy art book, Wall and Piece. See you all soon Love and Mercy Padraic & The Thrills
