Hey Folks,

Here's a little video about an exclusive Meet & Greet for our Street Team members at The Opera House in Toronto on December 11th. If you have not yet done so, you need to join our team and earn your way into this exclusive pre-show event.

For those of you that are wondering, the goal of the street team is to actively promote the band any way they can. The street team is not a fan club. Members are required to earn their rewards. With this said, I hope to see as many of you as possible out for it.

Cheers, JA

Dear Friends (& Total Strangers),

The hour is upon us. We are moments away from our first acoustic release and our first ever DVD release. If you've pre-ordered it then thank you! If you haven't, there's still a few hours left to do so here. And for those of you who are old fashion (like ourselves) it'll be on the shelves of record store everywhere tomorrow!

Please tell everyone you know to rush out and buy a copy, heck buy two and give one away - you know how those suits like to see a high chart position on week one!

Also, you can help get The Trews acoustic on the airwaves by requesting it at your local radio station, MuchMusic and MuchMoreMusic. Click here for a complete list of stations in your area.

Thanks again for your early support and we can't wait to get out and see each and everyone of you on the road. Check out all the latest tour dates on our calendar page. Love,

Hey Everyone,

Just a reminder that there's still plenty of time to pre-order "Friends & Total Strangers" directly from our website or if you live in Canada, you can get a "deluxe" version from iTunes.

For anyone you know who has not yet taken advantage of this opportunity, tell them we'll continue to take orders until street date or to rush out to their favorite local record shop (hopefully you still have a favorite local record shop) and pick up a copy on October 6. We can't wait to get out and tour this material acoustically. Check out the tour dates for a show near you.

Until next time,

The Trews.

Dear Trewbees,

Our new single Sing Your Heart Out is now available for purchase from iTunes. Those of you who have seen us live over the past few months will recognize this song from the set but this particular version (pulled from our Trews Acoustic - Friends and Total Strangers album due out October 6th) I'm particularly fond of as it was re-mixed by our good buddy Mike Fraser (who's credentials are too plentiful to list...Google him...)

Anyway, I hope you enjoy it as much as we do. For those of you living outside of Canada, you can still get in on the action by purchasing our new single directly from our website http://www.thetrewsmusic.com. Enjoy.

See you on the road.

Hey folks,

Colin here, I'm writing to let you know that as of today we're releasing a new single to radio called 'Sing Your Heart Out'. This song was written for some acoustic shows we did at the beginning of the year.

Before I go any further let me start with a bit of back story. Last November we took a trip to Japan with some other Canadian acts to showcase for the Japanese music industry. In the planning stages we realized that it would be way to expensive to ship all of our gear halfway across the world, so instead we decided to strip it down and just bring two acoustic guitars, a bass, a hand drum and our four voices.

And now for some way back story. When we first started playing all those years ago in Niagara Falls we used to busk as an acoustic four piece to make extra money, we would always make a couple hundred bucks for a an hour or two of playing, so we figured we had something good going on.

Back to the back story....we went over to Tokyo and played at the Oscar Peterson Theatre in the Canadian Embassy and it went over smashingly!! A lot of the Canadians in the audience even mentioned that they preferred us acoustically. It felt great and given the positive response we figured we should let our Canadian fans in on the action.

When we came back to Canada we immediately started planning for a couple of shows in January at the Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto, ON. Luckily, around the same time, our manager was in contact with Tim Martin at Frame Blender, a multi media company and asked if he was interested in doing a live concert shoot of our band. We told him about our plans for upcoming acoustic shows and we both thought this would be great content for a DVD. We figured since we were going to make a CD, we might as well shoot it for a potential live DVD. After a couple of very special nights at the Glenn Gould Studio, we felt we had something really cool.

So that brings me to today. Next month we will be releasing a live 15 song acoustic CD, that features highlights from those two special nights. This CD will be accompanied by a live DVD which will have the full 23 song set list as well as some cool documentary footage and some bonus features. We think this is really cool and we hope all you awesome Trews fans will dig the hell out of it!!

Oh and if any of you beautiful people get a chance to call your local radio station and request the latest single, Sing Your Heart Out, it would be greatly appreciated!!

Peace
Colin

In the summer of 2005, as we were preparing to release Den of Thieves, we found ourselves with a rainy Monday night off in New York City. Scouring the local rags to find something to do Jack and I discovered that Les Paul was doing his weekly gig at Iridium in Time Square. We rushed over there in the rain with my newly acquired 76 Les Paul Custom in tow (I had heard through the grapevine that if you stuck around after his show you might get a chance to meet him and I didn't want to miss a chance to have Les Paul sign one of my Les Pauls!) As we were waiting in line to get in we bumped into Mark Knopfler who was also waiting in line, this is the kind of audience such a legend attracts. We got in there and found a seat. For the next few hours we were entertained by Les and his band doing their set of jazz standards and by Les regaling the audience with the most incredible stories and jokes.

He was like rock'n'rolls' grandpa telling old stories and giving sage advice. It was fantastic! When the show finished, as promised, a queue began to form at the back of the room and, after a short wait, out came Les Paul. He sat down at he head of the line and began signing autographs, taking pictures and shaking hands. And by that time the line up had grown to include just about everybody in the house that night. He must have sat there meeting and greeting for over two hours. Imagine that! This man was 90 years old at the time and had just performed a two hour show! I know bands in there twenties who wouldn't do that (I decided on that day that I would never again be "too tired" after a show to go out and spend some time with the people who came out to see us). Finally our time came and I broke out my guitar, which he personalized (" To John-Angus, Keep Rocking LES PAUL!" -I took that advice to heart...) Unfortunately the picture posted below (which Jack snapped) was taken on my shitty cell phone camera (I remembered the guitar but not the camera!) so it's a little fuzzy but I'm glad to have it nonetheless.

I'm still floored when I think back to that night. A man who's early career accomplishments alone had already cemented his status as quite possibly the most important inventive genius in modern musics (and I don't say that simply as a huge Gibson Les Paul fan, I mean 8 track recording.... where would we be without that?) was still up there, at 90, playing his heart out and loving it!...if we could all be so lucky...or so brilliant.

Anybody who's ever recorded or performed rock'n'roll owe their career to this man.

RIP Les Paul
