I recently got the chance to remix eQo and the excellent track 'Just A Little Bit More'. The remix is now posted on most of the Voide profile pages on various music sites including myspace, last.fm, somojo and reverbnation.

About the remix.
It is hard to work with a track that you like a lot and Just A Little Bit More was a challenge for me as I wanted to treat the original with a large portion of respect but still adding some of the Voide touch in the production. I held back in the end because I think the track is beautiful as it is. I added some rhythms, remixed quite a few of the instrumental and vocals while I also added a sound here and there. I hope that you will like it and I also recommend checking out other tracks by eQo!

New single
I am currently finalizing work on my new single Lazy that will be released very soon.

After some consideration I have decided to change service for my Voide newsletter from SoundClick to ReverbNation.

The reasons for this change are the following:
*Allows you to opt in to join the 'street team' if you want to help me spread the word about Voide
*I have a lot better control over how I share information with you.
*Easier management of the email list for me
*A good spam filter that prevents me sending emails to addresses that are harvesting other email addresses
*ReverbNation is a highly developed site

If you want to receive the Voide newsletters then please visit the below link and sign up for the maling list at ReverbNation. You don't need an account at ReverbNation to be able to sign up for the maling list.

Once there you will be prompted to enter your email address and after that you are done.

http://www.reverbnation.com/voide?add_email=true

Got some cool new stuff to share as well soon, but I'll send that out from the new system within a couple of weeks.

Best Regards,
Dave of Voide

Voide Newsletter May 2009 A lot has happened since the last Voide newsletter. I have been busy with remixes, collaborations, hosting Pixicast, composing new tracks and reviving an old project.

Here is an attempt to summarize the latest news.

Two brand new tracks has been released now in May and they are the first ever Voide tracks that are released under a creative commons license. In short this means that you are free to share Voides music with friends, include in podcasts etc. For commercial use my permission is required, contact me if you have something in mind :)

Into the Sun featuring Australian vocalist Pixieguts

Into the Sun is the first track collaboration between Voide and Pixieguts. While the track is upbeat and has a bit of a club sound to it, it is still a bit dreamy and Pixieguts lovely voice pulls it all together about 2 minutes into the track.

Would you like to go into the sun together with us?

  Creative Commons License

You can listen and download Into the Sun at these sites:

Bandcamp
Last.fm

Traffic
Traffic is inspired by traffic flows in general, especially in the city. The 'point of view' of this track is from the drivers seat of a car and the time of day is after dark. Traffic has a solid beat with some dreamy pads and acid lines. The arrangement is somewhat of an experiment as there is a breakdown pretty early in the track, that is compensated for later.

Creative Commons License

You can listen and download Traffic at these sites:
Bandcamp
Last.fm

Little Red Cottage (LRC) - I Go Easy
Little Red Cottage is the new incarnation of the Johanson/Almgren duo that has been ULDA for the last 18 years. ULDA produced analogue recordings of experimental electronic music with a psychological tinge. After a long period of silence since 2002 we decided that it was time to revitalize and rename the band. Much has also happened technology wise since the ULDA era with the new digital production possibilities.

With LRC the course has changed to a more mellow and relaxing sound with the first release titled 'I Go Easy' that is inspired by lounge, bar, house and chill out music in general.

It was also an excellent opportunity for us to work together with the female vocalist Pixieguts from Australia in this international collaboration.

Visit and listen to Little Red Cottage at any of these sites:
Last.fm
Lrcmusic.com - free downloads
CDBABY
Little Red Cottage will also be available from iTunes late May.

Mondo Blu Radio
Based in Barcelona, Spain Paul of Mondo Blu Radio hosts a podcast show presenting artists featured at the radio station. In episode 15 Paul features both Little Red Cottage - I Go Easy and Voide - Into the Sun both featuring Pixieguts.

By playing the new tracks in the podcast Mondo Blu Radio was the first radio station world wide to feature the two new tracks!

PIXICAST 002

Episode number 2 of this podcast with alternative electronic world sounds has been recorded and published in April. I am hosting this show for the Pixies Palace community and I have been working together with Pixieguts producing this podcast. There are some truly talented artists featured in the podcast series and I suggest you check it out (and subscribe for free). Pixicast episode 3 will be out in a couple of weeks.

Voide Remix of Imogen Heap - The song that never was
Imogen Heap posted a remix competition on Twestival.fm and I decided to participate with my version of "The song that never was". The competition had close to 500 contributions with a wide variety of mixes.

You can listen to the Voide version here:

Voide Remix of Sun Diviners by Baxandall IP featuring Pixieguts

There was an open remix collaboration at Pixies Palace to remix the track Sun Diviners originally composed by Baxandall IP featuring Pixieguts. I am very happy with the remix, it has a slightly softer sound than the original adding that Voide touch.

You can listen to all the eight remixes available of Sun Diviners at last.fm. All remixes including the Voide remix are free to download.

Love featuring Suzie Electric
When I was releasing the Humachine album this project together with the female German vocalist Suzie Electric did not get the attention it deserved so I decided to include it in this newsletter.

Me and Suzie met on MySpace in 2007 and we decided to make this single together and the work continued during the last six months of 2008. There are tree versions of the track 'Love' on this single. Based on some listener feedback I also want to point out that the extended version is not only extened, it is also different in several ways. It has a different bassline, new vocals and a somewhat different beat together with new sounds.

Listen to LOVE at these sites:
Last.fm
Bandcamp

Are Eidet created the cover art and took the original photo used for the single. Are is a very talented artist and photographer. I can recommend a visit to his website for some amazing and fun photos.

Humachine

In case that you missed it, Humachine is the latest Voide album that was released early 2009. The most popular tracks to date are Humachine, Sometimes I Daydream, Adrenalin, Rock the Geek and How Does it work.

You can listen to the Humachine album at these sites:
Bandcamp - free downloads!
Last.fm CDBABY - CD hard copy album and MP3's available

Twitter
As you have seen I don't send out newsletters all that often, that is to keep them more interesting and to prevent me filling up your mailboxes. I started using Twitter a couple of months ago and my updates are posted on voide.net and my MySpace page. To get updates on a more daily basis on what I am doing you can follow me on Twitter.

I always appreciate your help in helping me spreading the word about my music - Kudos!

All the best and take care,

Voide's contribution to the remix of "The song that never was" by Imogen Heap.

Pixieguts tipped me off about this remix opportunity and at first I did not know that to do. Then suddenly it came to me (in the middle of the night as usual) and I ended up with this track. I hope that you like it! =)

Welcome to the first Voide newsletter in 2009!

I has now been a month since the latest Voide album Humachine was released and the interest for the album is definitely on the rise. iTunes have now had time to add it to their online music store as well. This link takes you directly to the Humachine album there.

Online reviews are being written by journalists as I write this, more news about this will be in the next newsletter.

Sun Diviners Remixes

I recently got the chance to remix the Sun Diviners track by Baxdandall IP feat. Pixieguts. Baxandall IP is from Poland and Pixieguts (vocals) is from Australia. There are seven remixes produced by different artists that all are members of the Pixies Palace online music community.

All the remixes including the original are posted on Last.FM
Sun Diviners Remixes

The best part is that all the tracks above including my remix are free MP3 downloads!!

The PIXICAST podcast

The first ever episode of the PIXICAST podcast has been recorded and published. This is a podcast with focus on electronic alternative world sounds and I have the honor to be the host of the show. This episode features 22 great tracks from artists around the globe and the show is 127 minutes long. My music is not featured in this podcast, but you will hear me present the tracks as well as some additional trivia about the songs and the artists.

Pixicast on Last.FM

Pixicast is also available on iTunes.

Busy busy...
To sum it up I have been pretty busy lately and I have also started working on a number of new cool tracks. We'll see how it turns out and what the interest is like. I have been thinking about some changes on the way I distribute my music as well. As soon as I have any updates I will send out a new newsletter.

Current mood:  electric
Category: Music
About a year ago I wrote the first tracks on the Humachine album. At that time I had a rough outline on what I was working towards as I have learnt by experience to give room for creativity. There are more tracks with vocals on this album than I usually have, not that I put a limit on the number of tracks with vocals. Most of the tracks are upbeat in a style that is melodic and clean with tight production. During the work on this album me and Peter at TailorMaid studios changed the way we work together and we both think that the result is even better than before.

From the Voide dictionary: Humachine - erases the borders of humanity and machine existence, merges them to into one unit and the result is a composite of contradictionary operators in a biomechanical structure. One could argue that this is bad, another that it is good - the only thing that is for sure is that it raises more questions than it answers.

The Humachine album features 14 tracks and 69 minutes of music.

Distribution
CDBABY is the global distributor of all Voide albums making them available for MP3 downloads and CD purchases on many online music sites like for example iTunes, SoundClick, Last.FM, Napster, Amazon, GroupieTunes and others.

As distribution is still ongoing due to the fact that the album is released today only CDBABY and SoundClick currently have the new album available in their stores.

Best wishes to you all for 2009!
Dave
