3:5 One night in Gibeon the Lord appeared 9 to Solomon in a dream. God said, "Tell 10 me what I should give you." 3:6 Solomon replied, "You demonstrated 11 great loyalty to your servant, my father David, as he served 12 you faithfully, properly, and sincerely. 13 You have maintained this great loyalty to this day by allowing his son to sit on his throne. 14 3:7 Now, O Lord my God, you have made your servant king in my father David's place, even though I am only a young man and am inexperienced. 15 3:8 Your servant stands 16 among your chosen people; 17 they are a great nation that is too numerous to count or number. 3:9 So give your servant a discerning mind 18 so he can make judicial decisions for 19 your people and distinguish right from wrong. 20 Otherwise 21 no one is able 22 to make judicial decisions for 23 this great nation of yours." 24 3:10 The Lord 25 was pleased that Solomon made this request. 26 3:11 God said to him, "Because you asked for the ability to make wise judicial decisions, and not for long life, or riches, or vengeance on your enemies, 27 3:12 I 28 grant your request, 29 and give 30 you a wise and discerning mind 31 superior to that of anyone who has preceded or will succeed you. 32 3:13 Furthermore, I am giving 33 you what you did not request – riches and honor so that you will be the greatest king of your generation. 34 3:14 If you follow my instructions 35 by obeying 36 my rules and regulations, just as your father David did, 37 then I will grant you long life." 38The question arises: Where is our heart? May it be on that if God and not the world.

If we make our troubles an opportunity to learn more of God's love and His power to aid and bless then they will teach us to have a firmer confidence in His Providence. -Billy Graham
My God bless you today! May you make the choice to turn trouble into an opportunity.

Hold On
There are many times when we feel close to God and everything seems perfect. Life is wonderul, nothing can take this feeling away. Your life feels worthy. You feel as if you could climb any mountain that lies in your path. We have found ourself in Christ. Life is good. BUT, what happens when things go the other way. When the storms come in life, and try to blow us from the foundation of God. Life hurts, we feel pushed, we feel tempted, we give in, we begin to feel unworthy. When the rivers of life poor on us, we feel pushed away from God. This is when life becomes confusing and we might lose our direction. And then fear sets in..... Put yourselves in the shoes of a young child for a second. As a child might lose sight of their parents at a busy shopping center. How would they feel? They become paniced, scared, hurt. LOST. Why? Because what you value most at that point in time is being surrounded by the love and safety of a parent. But when it is out of sight, then reality begins to set it. The absense of God shows what we really desire in life. To be next to God. So in response as child what do we do? First thing is we hold on to the hope that we will find that comforting presence again. Its that hope and deep desire of finding God (parents) that pushes us to CRY OUT. That when they hear our voice and come running back to us. As Isreal cied ou in their bondage, God heard and rescued them (Ezekeal 2 and 3). Rescue in Coming! If life is going bad, don't lose hope. Don't let go, Hold On! Isaiah 43:1,"Don't be afraid, for I will protect you. I call you by name, you are mine. 43:2 When you pass through the waters, I am with you; when you pass through the streams, they will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not harm you. 43:3 For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your deliverer. Exodus 6 'I am the Lord. I will bring you out from your enslavement to the Egyptians, I will rescue you from the hard labor they impose, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments.

Full Surrender"Here am I; send me" Dying to Self Emptying of Self For to me to live [is] Christ, and to die [is] gain. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. Allowing Christ to "take our place" Full Surrender = Full Victory
Moses, at the call of Yahweh, surrenders self, and undertakes the deliverance of his fellow-Hebrews Abraham abandons friends and native country to go to a land unknown to him, because God called him to do so ( Gen 12:1). He would give up all his cherished hopes in his only son Isaac, at the voice of God Isaiah must submit to the divine purification of his lips, and hearken to the inquiry, "who will go for us?" with the surrendered response, "Here am I; send me" ( Isa 6:8). Jeremiah must yield his protestations of weakness and inability to the divine wisdom and the promise of endowment from above ( Jer 1:1-10). Ezekiel surrenders to the dangerous and difficult task of becoming messenger to a rebellious house ( Ezek 2:1 through 3:3). Jonah, after flight from duty, at last surrenders to the divine will and goes to the Ninevites ( Jon 3:3). He "emptied himself .... becoming obedient even unto death, yea, the death of the cross" ( Phil 2:7 f) Surrender All. Here am I Lord send me!!!!!!!!!!

I am speaking in Oct to a church in Austin. And there has been a topic that has been heavy on my heart lately. Fight or give up. I do speak often on issues similar to this topic. But why is it so heavy on my heart? Well because I have people close to me that are struggling, giving up and not putting up a fight. But every time I see someone give up, I see someone persevere. Maybe the real question is not why is this topic so important to me, but why is this topic so important to God.
Obviously it goes much deeper then giving up or fighting. I think the first question is why do we have to fight?
I believe there are a number of reasons, but to briefly name them. 1. We fight for our salvation 2. We fight for our dreams 3. We fight against temptation 4. We fight for and with others. 5. But most important to me, is we fight for our relationship with Christ.
I have also said this many times, but in Revelation 3:20 .... the part that says "to him who opens the door" that is the part where we must get up... realize who is at the door ..and be willing to face or fight what ever comes in between you and that door. And what comes in between you and the door?
Well: self image, the world around us, temptation, money, lust, selfishness, hopelessness, becoming lost, suicidal etc...
The fight to me. Is first a PASSIONATE HEART DRIVEN CRY for Christ. followed by the action of a desperate run straight to Jesus. To me this is when the real battle or fight takes place. When originally we were not really fighting back but accepting the distractions, but now we know what we desperately need. Like one might need water in a parched land. We know in our hearts that we not only need Christ, but we DEEPLY yearn for him.
Do we know the difference? Yearn = deep unending desire to be in the loving protective arms of Jesus.
The fight takes place when we run to Christ and run over everything that gets in the way. If we fall down, which we will, then we get back up. Remember Joshua had many obstacles in between him and the God promised land, but he ran over the obstacles, dealt with the problems, and kept moving forward.
God told Joshua at least 3 times to be of good courage and of strong faith, and he needed it all. The will to fight starts in the heart. The desire to persevere is ignited from the heart. The will to hope lies in the heart. That is why God chose David a "Sheppard, to defeat Goliath and raise a Nation". This is why God chose Joshua a "servant" to lead his people to the promise land. Because they had the hearts of a lion.
So Let us Adventure Christ by fighting against everything that gets in the way of you and the door.

How would you respond if you knew you were being led away to your death because you would not convert from Chritianity to Islam? people like this are the heroes of our faith... Please read!!!! ..>..> ..>Korean Hostages Told Convert to Islam or Die September 13, 2007 | | ..>..> ..>
| | SOUTH KOREA – UPDATE: On September 12, South Korean Christian aid workers held hostage by the Taliban in Afghanistan for six weeks, reported being beaten and ordered at gun point to convert to Islam, according to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). According to the BBC, the former hostages told a press conference they were made to work like slaves while in captivity. Jae Chang-hee told reporters, "We were beaten with a tree branch or kicked around. Some kidnappers threatened us with death at gunpoint to force us to follow them in chanting their Islamic prayer for conversion. I was beaten many times. They pointed a rifle and bayonet at me and tried to force me to convert." Jae Chang-hee added, "We lived like slaves. We had to level the ground for motorbikes, and get water and make a fire." BBC reported that Yu Jung-hwa said she thought she was going to die. "The most difficult moment, when I had a big fear of death, was when the Taliban shot a video. All 23 of us leaned against a wall and armed Taliban aimed their guns at us, and a pit was before me. They said they will save us if we believe in Islam. I almost fainted at the time and I still cannot look at cameras." On July 19, the Taliban kidnapped the 23 South Korean Christian aid workers when they were traveling by bus from Kabul to Kandahar. The group's leader, Pastor Bae Hyung-kyu, and another male hostage were killed. Twenty-one members of the group were released last month following an agreement between South Korea and the Taliban. Recalling how Pastor Bae Hyung-kyu was led away to his death, the BBC said Han Ji-young, in tears, added, "Bae didn't even look at us when he was leaving the room. He only said, 'Overcome with faith.'" Continue praying for God to touch the lives of these believers as they deal with their experience in Afghanistan. Pray God comforts the families of the two that were killed. Pray the testimony of these Christians will draw non-believers into fellowship with Him.
"Over come with Faith" Amen!!! | ..> | ..>
