Current mood: blah
Earlier this year, my daughter's small lizard and her oldest hamster both died on the same day. The hamster lived a full little hamster life - about three years, probably one of the more active pet hamster lives. She escaped from her cage numerous times, always to show up either hours or days later in one of two places - either back by her cage poking her nose around, or under the kitchen cupboards. Sindee was a fun sweet hamster. Goggles the crested gecko was super awesome. About 3 inches long, he chased around crickets, ate mealworms, and jumped around a lot. We only had him for 6 months, and he died of unknown causes. My daughter wanted to get a new pet, but since we were going to be travelling a lot earlier this year, I convinced her that we should wait until we'd be home for a while. We went to the pet store, thinking that we'd be looking for a new lizard. The pet store that we stopped at didn't have any lizards that we liked, but it had a chinchilla that caught our attention. Over the next hour, we sat in a room with the chinchilla and held it for awhile. Her handler said that she was the sweetest chinchilla that the handler had ever met. I knew next to nothing about chinchillas, but I could see what she meant. The chinchilla had the cutest habit of very lightly nibbling on our fingertips and then licking our fingertips. We were just getting ready to buy supplies to be able to buy/adopt the chinchilla, when the power went out at the pet store. So we had to go home alone. The next day, we brought Cloud home to Malibu. One of the supplies I bought was an outdoor playyard. The handler said that I should get the lid just in case Cloud could figure out how to get out of the top of the playyard (over 3 feet tall). So over the next several weeks, every time we put cloud in the outdoor playyard, I put the lid on. I couldn't see that Cloud had any ability to get out of the top of the playyard, so one day a couple of weeks ago, I told my daughter that we should leave the lid off so Cloud could feel less cooped up for a few minutes. My daughter wanted to put the lid on, but I convinced her to leave it off. I went inside for a few minutes, and then my daughter went inside. A few minutes later, I heard her yell "Where's Cloud?" I ran out, and the chinchilla wasn't in the playyard. We looked around for an hour before I took a break. Then we put a few signs up in our neighborhood incase it wandered into a neighbor's hard. (I was really hoping it didn't end up wandering into the street). We looked again several more times that night and again the next morning. That next day when we came home from work and school, we looked around our yard one more time and couldn't find her. I had even put her dust bath outside our patio door, hoping to entice her back towards the house. Slightly after, I was talking on the phone with John and noticed that the water in our pool was pretty low, and I absentmindedly thought that I should go turn the pool water on when I noticed a gray shadow at the end. I focused, and realized it was Cloud in the pool. I screamed, John said he'd be right home, and I ran out to scoop Cloud out of the water. I couldn't see or feel her breathing, so I started giving her CPR. My daughter had heard my scream, so she knew what was happening. I had her bring a phone to me so that I could call a vet. The vet told me to keep trying CPR and to try to get the water out of Cloud's mouth and lungs. After hesitating for a couple of seconds, I even tried mouth to mouth, but it was just too late. My daughter and I sobbed for hours that night, and the next morning we buried Cloud in a beautiful shady spot in our backyard. Ever since I was a teenager, I've been abnormally afraid of drowning. I used to have lots of nightmares about dying in water. The first two nights after Cloud died, I had nightmares again, and I've had a few more since. That week, we went to see a different chinchilla. He wasn't as adorably sweet as Cloud, but he was gentle, and he liked to be held, so we decided to bring him home with us that night. Needless to say, he'll never get to play outside without being enclosed under the playyard lid. He's sweet, and he's really fast, so he was aptly named Speedy. I still feel guilty and sick about doing something so stupid to let Cloud escape. I'm an animal lover to a fault. I feel guilty going to even the zoos that try to simulate natural habitats. I love caring for animals, but I feel guilty about them not being free in nature. I know that I was trying to let Cloud feel more free, but not watching over her was a stupid mistake that I'll never forget. Speedy will never take her place, but he's a member of our little animal family just the same.

Just wanted to let all of you know about a blog called ChristianSingsTheBlues.com. It's from the performer Christian, and he gives some interesting insights on what it's like to be on a porn set.
And thanks again to Christian for my current profile pic of me and Derrick Pierce. I can't remember the last time I loved a picture of myself THIS much. I don't know if it's because I don't look like a huge cow, or because there's an extremely sexy hot guy kissing my cheek.
Hmmm... looks like I get the best of both worlds on this one. :)

Current mood: hopeful
I just got a call tonight asking me if I wanted to go see Tom Cruise at Tuesday's (October 30) taping of the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
I have to admit that as much as I find most of his antics the last couple of years ridiculous, Tom Cruise is still one of my guilty pleasures. He's got charisma. Coincidentally, I just saw an IMAX film in Washington D.C. this past weekend that was narrated by him.
So sure, I said yes and was very excited. As soon as I put down the phone, I realized that I had been looking forward to WATCHING the Tonight Show on Tuesday to see Representative Ron Paul (Texas) as a guest. I'm a big supporter of him, and have met him a couple of times over the years.
If you don't know what he stands for yet, watch the Tonight Show Tuesday, October 30th and see him in person. He's bold, quirky, and possibly exactly what this country needs.

Probably anyone in the United States who has turned the news on this week is aware of the fires in Southern California.
I've received a lot of emails and messages from people who knew I lived in Malibu and were making sure that I was safe. Thanks to all of you for your concern and well wishes.
On Sunday, my daughter and I had to evacuate my house in Malibu. John was in touch with us all day from Europe as he was scheduled to return home on Monday. I don't think I should let him go to Europe on his own anymore, because the last time he went alone, I had to sandbag our driveway from the mudslides. grrr, just kidding...
Sunday morning, John called because Joey Silvera had called John's cell phone to ask if the house was OK. At that point the fire was over a mile to the west of our house, but had just burned down a couple houses, a church and a castle.
Within a couple of hours, (after eating an early lunch) I made the decision to start packing up the car with all our important documents and irreplacable sentimental things. I took our birth certificates and passports, computer drives, photo negatives, a week worth of clothes, and the pets. Isabella took some DVDs, games and a couple stuffed animals. I packed some valuable art into our second car, hoping that if the house burned the car would make it.
About 1pm, we drove across the intersection by our house and camped out with some other families, just watching the fire. Pictures that I took from there are in a photo album. Isabella made 3 new friends during the few hours that we were there.
At one point around 4pm, we weren't sure if the fire would come down the hill where our house was, but by dusk it looked like the water drops that had been being made all day were making a big difference.
We were finally able to return to our house on Tuesday night, and everything is fine. We are lucky and extremely grateful for the amazing job that the firefighters did in Malibu.
Other areas are still being hit really hard by the fires. San Diego and Lake Arrowhead are getting the worst. Half a million homes have been evacuated from the San Diego area alone, and as of yesterday almost 1000 homes had been burned and 100 businesses.
If you are able to and interested in donating money to the Red Cross, here is their information: redcross.org

Hey everyone- Here's an article on adultfyi.com that gives a pretty detailed rundown of how the interview went: http://www.adultfyi.com/read.php?ID=24788
Jew Hefner clinches a rare interview with award winning famed director John Stagliano and his wife Karen tonight at 6pm.
John, the owner of Evil Angel, is credited as being the creator of gonzo, which instantly cornered the market for people that just don't want a plot in their porn. Karen (AKA Tricia Devereaux)is also an award winning performer, the publicist for Evil Angel, and just this year AVN honored her by including her in the list of the 50 most influential people under the age of 40.
It's tonight, October 9th at 6pm - 8pm. The Jew Leno show with Jew Hefner. To listen, go here and click on KSEX TV Audio. http://www.ksex.com/radio2.html

Current mood: energetic
Update:
Well, it's been over 2 months since my surgery. I've been going to physical therapy for two months now and on a regular basis, I never notice any problems with my knee. I'm slowly building up strength, and pretty soon will get a release from my therapist to do whatever I want back in the gym. yay!
Original post on May 16, 2007:
For the last 15 months, I've been waiting to see how much better my knee was going to get following a ski accident that I had. I wrote about that in a blog back then, but basically I'm not a fabulous skiier, and when some guy cut me off at the bottom of a hill, I swerved and lost my balance. I ran into a mesh fence and my skis got stuck without the bindings popping off and I tore my cartilage.
I finally decided that I needed to go ahead and have the surgery, so yesterday I had arthroscopic surgery to remove the part of the cartilage that tore off.
I'm not on crutches, but it's pretty swollen. The good news is the doctor said that he saw the part that I was feeling lock up sometimes, and he is confident that he fixed it. Yay! So maybe next year I'll be skiing again. But I think this time I'll stay on the bunny hill with my daughter! lol
Well... I'll try to write about something that has nothing to do with surgeries or injuries really soon! :)
