My sister thought this movie was a spin-off of Jumper or some kind of remake or movie version of Heroes or another kind of X-Men. And who could blame her? I only heard about this movie a month before it was released. Even then I wasn't so sure about it.

While it may not have cracked the top 5 in the box office, it was still a decent movie to see. The special effects were definitely fun and it kept you entertained... mostly. I counted a few dry spots that could've been cut or shortened or something. Most of the time it was giving the audience information... but it felt like the scenes went on too long and we needed to see more action and special effects!

It's a eye-candy movie like Wanted or The Matrix. It's not ground-breaking special effects, it's just fun to watch when it happens. The fight scenes in particular.

The title comes from what a certain kind of psychic can do, called pushers, who push thoughts and ideas into someone's mind. There are movers, who obviously move things with their mind. Watchers who can see the future. Sniffers who sniff things to see the past (of that object and those who have touched it). Shifter who change things into whatever they want. And bleeders who scream so loud, they make anything in ear shot bleed to death probably because their brains explode. It's kinda violent. There are a few others too but it's worth watching to check out this world they live in.

Overall, besides the dry parts, I'd watch it again when it hits DVDs. I wouldn't rush to the theater, though. And Dakota Fanning needs more clothes. I understand she was probably going for a certain look in this film... but I didn't like it. That's just me. Anyway, not a bad film. It does make you wonder which power you'd like to have.

Pronounced "dub-ya." I liked this movie. I'm agreeing with the critics that it could've been a lot better if there was more time put into it, but for what it's worth, it was definitely entertaining.

This is the film about our lovely former president. Josh Brolin did a heckuva job playing him. And Richard Dreyfuss even scared me a little with his Cheney. That's because Cheney is just scary to begin with. Now what's meant by it could be better with more time is this: the movie felt rushed. The director, Oliver Stone, wanted it released while Bush was still in office. I don't know why. Maybe to have the title of being the first (and right now only) biopic of president while he's still in office? Who knows? But with more time, it might have a little bit of a better ending... even though I'm not really hating on the ending. I just said "That's it?" As if I didn't know how it really ended.

Also, the casting might've been a bit off. I like seeing the stars I know, but sometimes I might prefer the stars I don't--the ones that can capture the likeness a bit better. Thandie Newton wouldn't have been my first choice for Condi. But, it sort've passed. Barely. Newton doesn't look like Newton anymore, but doesn't quite look like Condi either. The same goes for Powell vs. Jeffrey Wright. Again, for what it's worth, it was good.

Overall, as I told my mother... this guy was an interesting dude. And perhaps some of this was a little fictionalized, but this movie paints him as a real person instead of just some idiot that managed to be president for 8 years. No, it doesn't make me like him or respect him and his presidency, but it does remind me that he is a person. And sometimes, you can't help but laugh anyway. And believe me, I did.

I thought it might be cool having Sam Jackson as a neighbor. But if he's anything like what he plays in this movie, maybe not so much. Here, this Jackson fellow is playing a racist cop that get's some new neighbors. They just happen to be an interracial couple, which seems to bother Mr. Jackson. Such a shame, considering this is 2009 (or 2008 at the time) and it's time to get with the program... but no. This super strict law abuser decide to gently persuede the newly web couple to move somewhere else.

I don't know about you (if you've seen it) but it got me rather tense. First of all, race relations is something that unfortunately is still a problem in this country. And some of our older generations have a problem with the mixing of cultures or seeing black people with white people with orange people with green people. Okay, I might stand up again green people too, I'm just saying. But I've dated other that weren't the same color, and it's sad but true, I've gotten some opposing looks from it. So I could relate that way.

But then, Sam has to go and do some mean things that get worse and worse. It sort've reminded me of Changing Lanes when Sam was a bit nicer, if I remember correctly. But it eventually becomes somewhat of a competition between homeowners that doesn't have the most cheerful of endings. Oh yes, and there's a threatening cloud in the background. Literally. So there is a lot of drama and things get more and more tense. It's meant to make you feel uneasy.

Overall, not a bad movie for a dry evening with a delicious dinner. I think for some, it might even be a conversation start. I know it would definitely distract you from doing any work you thought you could do while watching (ask my dad). Would I buy it? Probably not. I love Kerry Washington, but I'll probably pass on the purchase, but I'd watch it again.

This is, or was, the only Tarantino film I hadn't seen. I'm actually glad I waited until now to truly appreciate it. I'm not saying it's the best, but I know I wouldn't have liked it very much when it first came out.

What I like about QT films is how it seems to automatically have a cult classic stamp on it. And I also like the way his characters talk. And Sam Jackson. What a dude. I don't like his hair though, but whatever.

This movie really goes places with a bunch of interesting characters throughout. Sadly, I can't say that many of them make it to the end... but if you are watching a Tarantino film, I think that's to be expected. This movie is also a throwback to those 70's blaxploitation days when Pam Grier ruled as queen. Well, in the cinema. I haven't seen many of those films, but I saw enough to recognize the infuence and homages.

I didn't know where this movie was going, in a good way, and I liked that. Sometimes predicting an ending, or at least the next plot point, can be a bit annoying. But alas, I certainly didn't have that problem here and I enjoyed the story that was told. And at one point, told to me 3 different times with different points of view. Gotta love it!

Overall, I'd probably buy this movie for it's classic-ness. I might not watch it very often, but it'll be there. True, it isn't a true Tarantino film (not his original idea, the story is loosely based on a book), but his fingerprints are all over it. And fortunately, his style doesn't distract from the story.

I can't really give this review or film the full justice it deserves because I really should've watched it again. It's no fault on the movie, I was just multitasking and wasn't paying attention like most people do.

But from what I did see, I liked. The movie is a comedy/crime/action flick by film autuer Guy Ritchie. I kinda like the guy. I've seen about half of his popular flicks, and of those flicks, this is the best one that comes through as a comedy. Normally, with his movies, I'm expecting someone or anyone to die almost randomly. I'm a decently big fan od Snatch. That seemed to have some violence in it, but at most, you don't really see it. I might be lying, it's been a while since I've watched it. But it's good, and if you liked that, you'd probably like this.

Now if you asked me to describe the plot? That's a little bit different. If I remember correctly, old school gang wants to take out new school gang, but... Crap in a hat, I lost it already. A lot of stuff happens, and you need to pay attention. That's what my main problem was, but I'm more than willing to watch it again sometime.

Overall, good movie even though I can't explain it. It's fun, funny, and keeps the story rolling just as long as you hold on and keep up. I couldn't help but keep quoting the beginning of the trailer throughout the whole movie "you want to be a rocknrolla" in the same accent and everything. Really, it's just a semi-fancy/arty fun guy movie. Enjoy.

Unfortunately I need to write this review again because it didn't actually post the first time. So to save you and me the trouble, I'll just come out and say that this movie is dreadful. Don't waste your time unless you really have absolutely nothing whatsoever to do or even watch.

Unlike other people who might just tell you something sucks, I will explain briefly why it sucks. Most of the time, the story is lacking and seemingly goes nowhere. To break it down a bit more, as the action (using the term lightly) plays out on screen, I'm asking why this or that is happening, or why this or that needs to be seen, and so forth. It's a process I go through. It might be more interesting to hear about that than the movie... maybe not.

Overall, I'm inclined to agree with the video store guy who told me that the credit are more entertaining than the actual movie. Not just because you are happy that it's over, but the special effects are nice and should've been saved for a better movie. Speaking of the ending, I almost didn't make it and actually fell asleep on this dud. For an action movie, there's very little of it. Not all video games need to be movie. Check out Hitman instead. Even better: Wanted.

Many people know I'm a Tyler Perry fan.  I love his work ethic and his ability to produce quality each time that just gets better and better.  Notice, I don't like everything he does, but I still think very highly of him and his creative control over everything he writes, directs and produces.

With that said, this is a film that I didn't have a strong desire in seeing.  I'll be honest, I love me some Madea, and I knew this was a Madea-free film.  And having seen most of his films, they usually follow the same pattern.  I don't want to get into what that is, but if you've seen his films, you know that there's a set number of relationships, and each have their own issues that resolve themselves one way or another by the end of the film.  This film has that too, but it's different in a good way, and it works.

I can clearly tell this isn't a movie for everyone.  Tyler Perry fans, especially.  Outside of that, those who like romantic drama, or a female buddy road film.  This has the workings of being a Lifetime movie, without the sappiness Lifetime requires for it's Lifetime-made movies.

Overall, this was a better movie than I thought.  I admit, I didn't really know the full details of what this movie was about before I watched it, but sometimes it's better to go in blind.  I recommend this movie for ladies night out, or even a date movie for married/engaged couples.  It has some religious elements to it, so church goers can have a good time too.  Is it buy worthy?  Not really for me.  But I'd probably watch it again.

I wanted to see this in theaters.  For good reason, I had a feeling this was one of those movies that really moved, and I was right!
I had mid-expectations for this movie.  I wasn't expecting it to be bad, and I wasn't thinking it was going to be really great either.  But it was a good thrill ride that had me guessing what might happen next.
I'd say this is a decent movie for a family night.  There's a little bit of a language problem, but it could be worse.  As for what the movie is like... Enemy of The State.  My dad thought of another Will Smith movie: I, Robot.  And it's a bit of a spoiler, and I apologize if you are familiar with the plot of this movie, but this is the first movie I thought of: 2001: A Space Odessy.  And that's not a bad thing either.  Fortunately, it's not as long or as weird.
Overall, this is a good pick.  I'd probably buy this movie.  There isn't much special features on the disc, but that's okay.  I watched this movie twice already, and it's one of those movies where it's kinda fun to do so, once you know what and why the things are going on.

Hey, did you know this Nic Cage vehicle was a remake?  It is.  And according to some other reviews I read, not a very good one.  A little summary of this story is Cage stars as a by-the-book assassin for hire.  Stone cold, no friends, no emotions.  Except for the emotions he relates as he narrates.
There's not a lot that goes on in this film worth mentioning.  A few decent action scenes with corny dialogue for the sake of actors speaking... minus the mute character that is supposed to equal for a love interest.  But I think I can understand why she's there.  And I feel a little better that this remake is more of a recycle since it's done by the same directors of the original... just for an American audience.  How nice.
Overall, this is a bit of a time waster.  You won't be missing much if you never see this one.  There is some violence, a bit of sex, so you can show kids how not to make an action movie.  Or at least how to make a dry/flat action movie with a predictably lame ending.  Don't buy.  Maybe wait for TV when everything is a repeat and there's nothing to rent.

Never heard of it?  Not surprising.  This film is from Italy 1988(?)... I'm avoiding the research due to laziness.  But it's a great film.  This is the director's cut I watched which spans a little over three hours.  I wish I knew that going in and I would've picked a different night.
Anyway, I would recommend this to a cinema lover for the sake of the love of cinema... does that make any sense?  It's about a young boy who learns how to be a cinema projectionist, and his love for films.  He practically lives most of his life there, finds love there, and makes his friends there.  The story is a look into the past by an older gentleman who was told not to return to the little town he came from.
It's a real charm of a movie and I'd definitely add this one to my collection as well as a top foreign film.  I couldn't tell you what was different from the original cut and the director's cut, but I did like what I saw, even if it was an hour longer.  The movie is rated R, mostly for a few scenes of sexuality and possibly some language (I don't remember).  So bring the wee kids at your own risk, and perverts aren't missing anything.
Overall, great film.  If you can find it, I'd say "Pick it up!"  I can't say I know any other movies like it.  I probably do... but I can't think of any.  Sorry.  Hey, it's a one of a kind!
