Current mood:In love with life in New Orleans
Category: Pets and Animals
Animal rescue --------------------------------------------------------------- Here's one for you, several years ago, Roger was in his parking garage going to his car to go home when he heard a sad yowling coming from the level above him. He went to investigate the sound and all of a sudden some gray creature started coming towards him and crawled up his leg, ever closer to his crotch he took the jacket he was carrying and threw it over the creature. He brought this little kitten covered in oil home, she had obviously stowed away in someone's engine.
Scared and covered in grease we held her in the jacket trying to calm and clean her. Robyn had a rat as a pet at the time, her name was NIMH, well Nimh started to lick this little filthy kitten to clean her of the oil, Nimh continued to clean her until the kitten was revived enough to start playing with the rat.
Nimh then retreated to the safety of Robyn's hands. Just goes to show you that even creatures who are considered to be natural enemies can reach out with love and concern to one another. We as humans need to keep these realizations in our hearts and souls. Love, peace, and health to you and yours, Elyse

Just watched my friend Grayson Capps video of "New Orleans Waltz" again, I do that sometimes when I miss him and New Orleans before the storm. The thing that pissed me off is that at the end when you are given the option to watch other videos of a similar subject matter a video popped up by the Italian Redneck. Man what a twisted and slanted view of life that person has, depicting black people specifically and New Orleanians in general as lazy, stupid, thieving people who whine and bitch and hope the rest of the world will take care of their sorry asses. There are definitely some people who did things directly after the storm that were illegal, unkind, gruesome, and unconscionable. Some of those people were citizens of New Orleans, the vast majority were in some branch of the government, specifically the White House, the Army Corps of Engineers, FEMA, the governor of Louisiana, the mayor of New Orleans, and the list goes on. Still to this day the people of New Orleans are struggling to rebuild and to come home to the city they love and it isn't because they are lazy and looking for a hand out, it's because every time they have any chance of moving forward someone else throws a road block in their path. It seems as though a lot of people think that the only folks not coming back to New Orleans are the poor, well take a look around Lakeview one of the most affluent neighborhoods of New Orleans, it still looks like a bomb went off there yesterday. If the wealthy cannot come back and rebuild how can the poor? Get a clue America, we love our city just as much (if not more) as you love yours, 80% of it sat under water for three or more weeks, over 60% of the populace lived at or below the poverty level before all of their worldly possessions were washed away. Truthfully how would your community rebuild and reclaim their homes if the government failed them every step of the way? Wake up and understand, this could be you, this will be you. Grassroots organizations are our life blood here these days, we are thankful for them, we are part of them, but...is that really all that we should expect or accept? I don't know what else to say, but do try and put yourselves in other peoples shoes, do open your eyes to the possibility that your government has failed you. Don't be afraid to speak your mind and vote your conscience.

Current mood: pissed off
Category: Friends
I have a friend who is living with me and my family right now and he is really pissing me off. He'll be gone soon but I wonder will we still be friends when he leaves. He talks non stop about everything, over and over again, going on and on about this actor or that actor, ooh that woman is so hot, I could do her, WOW, grrgrr, she's a fox, yada, yada, mfin' yada!!! He thinks fat girls should feel grateful if he gives them attention. He calls fat men, oh look at that fat slob. He thinks lesbians hate all men. He is a bigot, and like I told my husband, at least he's an equal opportunity bigot. I guess I knew some of this before he lived with me but, not to this extent, and I just want to smack him and tell him that he should listen to what he says and know who he really is. I haven't done this blog thing before, so I don't know if this is what's supposed to happen but here it is, my own online bs spewing.
