These ones are from Kalmar, Southern Sweden: The statue on the following pics crowns the central column of a well which should remain of Swedish national hero, revolutionary and fighter for freedom against the Danish occupation, Gustav Vasa (1496-1560):

The following pics are impressions from La Gomera, one of the Canarian Islands, which is truly an island of the blessed: there's a gentle climate all over the year, lush vegetation inland and a really fascinating landscape with some wonderful beaches at the coast areas. - If you are searching for some silent place to relax and regenerate far away from people's noise and bustles, La Gomera by any means is worth a journey. But judge for yourself ...

The following pieces are impressions from a short trip to the Hallig Hooge, a very tiny island in the North Sea, which is regularily overflowed if the flood tide is very rough an stormy - it is exactly such type of island which is termed by the German word "Hallig"; I think the accordant English word is "holm" but I'm not completely sure whether both of them really mean exactly the same. There are ten Halligen in front of Germany's North Sea coast and the Hallig Hooge is the second largest of them. It belongs to Northern Friesland, a very stormy and rough landscape with rather sparse vegetation and an extremely wide, open and clear perspective to the edge of horizon. I for myself love Northern Friesland and its islands especially for the vastness and breathtaking silence. You can really and literally encounter yourself while wandering through the wind-blown meadows and looking out to the sea ...
I connected the serial's title with Rungholt: it is the name of a legendary, ancient small Friesian town, which is said to be lost in the North Sea's floods by God's will because of its utter corruptness ... - old legends rumour that the bells of Rungholt can be heard yet today before storm tides ... - While my wanderings across and around Hallig Hooge I often thought about this old legend so it seems to me an rather appropriate title ...

Typically for the Halligen are the so called "Warften": tiny knolls on which the locals erect their houses. When a storm flood overflows the island/holm, only these little meadows stick out of the waves, so the locals and their cattle could wait until the water has drained off ... This is life in the absolutely closest contact to nature's tides, its howling storms and its deepest ... S i l e n c e . . .
