Misfit – ‘Mama Cocha – The Remixes’
Lokomotiv 004
A1
– Valentino Kanzyani & Tomy Declerque Remix
One
of electronic dance music’s most beloved techno artists, Valentino
Kanzyani (Jesus Loved You/Recycled Loops), teams up with fellow
Slovenian Tomy Declerque (Stolen Moments/Jesus Loved You) to create a
slow building yet dramatic A-side with serious club appeal. Their
remix highlights the minor elements of the original but adds layers
of spiraling synths in combination with organ-like stabs and high
rising strings washing over glitched up bleeps and a solid pulsing
groove. The track’s pinnacle is a massive breakdown featuring sharp
symphonic strings which lead back to the main groove. Think of the
musical elements of Igloo-Recs mixed with Italo Business build ups
and you’ve got this summer’s minimal anthem!
B1
– Mauro Alpha & Andrea Paganin
Remix
Mauro
Alpha (Boxer Sport/Momentum/Pulsewith) and Andrea Paganin
(Kompass/Tenax) drop a
harder
kick, sharp clap and twisted noises with a tiny acid burp to start
things off giving this remix a jackin edge for the minimal techno
dancefloor. Random glitch, echoed out noise manipulations, hollow
percussion and an eerie electronic chime riff takeover lifting the
track up to a climax when it suddenly drops straight back to the
stripped down groove for a serious effect. Anyone who likes the stomp
of Subconce Records, the quirkiness of Someone Else or the recent
productions by Maetrik on Treibstoff Recordings will enjoy playing
this to what will certainly end up being a very receptive crowd!
B2
–
Bypass
FX Remix
These
guys are big time! Bypass FX are a collective of Italian electronica,
house, progressive and minimal techno producers (Filippo Montevidoni,
Simone Scardigli, Marco Solforetti and Michele Galiano) who recently
had their music featured on Nick Warren’s Global Underground 035
Lima compilation. Although this is not as clubby as some of their
other output, they create an excellently deep yet mind-bending
tech-house number here. A much sexier and funkier vibe dominates this
remix which retains much of the same feel as the original. A melodic
bassline with naughty warped male (or are they female?) vocals and
dark atmospherics make this the perfect accompaniment to those
post-party Sunday morning sex sessions in the back of the club (or at
home if you can make it there in time)!
