Hello again friends.
I suppose this Blog would be better used for publishing comments and suppositions on the love-lives of the people we know, but instead we seem to
only be using it for pseudo-advertisements and self-congratulatory info-bulletins. In keeping with this fine tradition, and speaking of advertisements, it has come to our attention that McSpace pages are full of advertisements for all sorts of uninteresting and unrelated nonsense. To remedy this we have discovered the incredibly useful gadget called AdBlock, which is in fact an "add-on" to the Mozilla browser.
Happy friending fellow cyborgs!
Vialka.

Gentles and ladymen! We are proud to announce the official release of our new full-length compact disc album "Plus Vite Que La Musique"! Hooray! Our eager and friendly staff (that's us actually) are standing by to fill orders, which are being taken at our online shop, as well as by phone, mail, telegraph, carrier pigeon, and so on. An audio file sample can be found on our audio page, but naturally, those who would prefer to see, touch, and smell this high-quality product before purchase will have to present themselves in person at one of our upcoming concerts!

When two nomads of different origins set their way of life to music, we can only be struck by the sincerity of their originality and fascinated by the perseverance with which they defend the improbability of their musical entity. Born after a long 18 month incubation period, the album "Plus Vite Que La Musique" recorded and mastered by Bob Drake (renown personage of the Rock In Opposition movement) marks the blossoming of the Vialka duo, owing to their elegant fusion of tradition and modernity. Songs such as "Incacapable", "Ménestrels" or "Grenade" cleverly combine political French chanson and the turbofolk inspired by their tours in over 45 countries, particularly in Kyrgyzstan and Mali. Idiosyncratic instrumental moments defying the laws of musical construction will unpretentiously captivate progressive rock fans, and so it is with "Opéra Brut", or "Trop Tard", which warn us in passing that "future generations will despise us"; as the world turns, "plus vite que la musique" (faster than the music).

Available now from Vialka and AurisMedia:
The French duo Vialka concluded their 2005 world tour in Israel, where they recorded a 20-minute set at Udi Koomran's Ginger's Studio. This set is here paired with a set by Israeli Klezmer pranksters Kruzenshtern I Parohod. Taken as a whole, Vialka's five songs represent the group's strongest release so far, in terms of both songwriting and performance. The duo offers a rather unusual instrumentation, with Marylise Frecheville playing complex drum patterns while singing, and Eric Boros playing angular riffs on his baritone guitar. The result sounds like a punked-up take on Etron Fou Leloublan. "Bamako" stands among their best songs ever, thanks to a demented opening riff and striking developments, but "Gothenburg" and "Nanaimo" are also very impressive. Kruzenshtern I Parohod has always been an avant-garde party band and that is exactly what they do here: party! Bassist Igor Krutogolov, clarinetist Ruslan Gross and drummer Guy Shechter are here joined by accordion player Olya Yelensky. To celebrate the newcomer's arrival in the band, two early classics of the trio are joyfully revisited: "Tort" from The Craft of Primitive Klezmer and "Young Ones" from Songs, both given exhilirating readings. These are complemented by two new compositions, "Piratskaja", frantically swinging, and "Karate", simply frantic. Like in Vialka's case, Kruzenshtern I Parohod's set is arguably their best outing yet. Put the two sets together and you get a strong, galvanizing album on its own, and a marvelous introduction to both bands. Highly recommended.
