What better gift can you give this season than the opportunity for a poor woman to work her way out of poverty?

A Village Banking holiday gift is always the perfect size, never requires standing in line at the cash register, or fighting for a parking space at the shopping center.

But the best thing about this gift is that someone you care about will share in changing the life of a deserving poor woman and her family. You'll never find a gift at the mall that makes three people feel so good.

Get into the true spirit of the season, and give a gift full of meaning this year.
Select a Village Banking holiday gift today.

Because of caring people like you, Village Banking entrepreneurs like Pros Magaga and her daughter have much to be thankful for this year. The Village Banking loans made possible through your generosity, help women start or expand a small business which, in turn, helps them provide a warm home, nutritious food, and access to health care and education for their families—often for the first time. Thanks to you, Pros and more than 720,000 hardworking poor people around the world can have real hope for a better future.

THANK YOU!

FINCA Mexico: Stories of Hope ,” a moving new documentary, features Golden Globe Award winner Natalie Portman—FINCA’s Ambassador of Hope —visiting clients of the FINCA program in Mexico to learn of their struggles, triumphs, and determination to craft a better future for their families. The film was directed by Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize-winning documentary director Juan Carlos Rulfo.

Ms. Portman, who also serves as a co-chair of the
Village Banking Campaign , created the film to offer FINCA supporters a more in-depth view of a program in action and open a window into the daily lives of FINCA clients.  Don’t miss her Web diaries  in which she talks about her trip to Mexico and shares her views about the power of microfinance to change lives."

Honduras is one of the 21 developing countries where FINCA operates, and we are monitoring closely the current crisis there. According to the most recent update we received from our regional director, all of our offices are open, and the situation in Honduras is relatively calm at the moment.
"There have been only two difficult days, including the violence this past Sunday at the Tegucigalpa airport, however, our operations have not been affected. There were threats recently by Zelaya supporters that they would essentially try to shut down the country - closing major highways, etc - but they have put these actions on hold for the moment as the two parties have expressed a willingness to negotiate. Oscar Arias, president of Costa Rica, will lead negotiations and we are hopeful that this situation will be resolved in the very near future."- Phil Broughton, Regional Director FINCA Latin America ( Click here to go to the FINCA Latin America page
