The album was recorded in Silverlake in Elliot Smith’s previous dwelling by producer Charles Newman (whose relationship with The Magnetic Fields spawned ‘69 Love Songs’ along with their soon to be released new record), and follows a debut release named by iTunes as one of the “Best Albums of the Year", which earned him the award of “Best Singer Songwriter of The Year" from LA Weekly.....

The Echo Park resident, who goes by the moniker AM (also his initials), found inspiration for his new album in his own 1960s record collection of obscure Brazilian music and Italian soundtracks. Fusing simple, intelligent lyrics, undeniable pop sensibilities and sparse, psychedelic groove, “Future Sons & Daughters” strikes a balance between the classic and the modern. Music Video for Grand Opinion can be viewed at www.youtube.com/amsounds .....

.. ..

‘Future Sons & Daughters’ brings a heady brew of twinkling Anglified folk-rock-pop, twanging Americana, caressing Philly soul and funky R&B. With bridges and choruses reminiscent of The Beatles and Badfinger, Curtis Mayfield and Jorge Ben, AM demonstrates the simple fact of songwriting: that imagination and taste is what it's all about.....

.. ..

AM recently returned from an East Coast tour, played Spaceland with The 88, and will be announcing a Winter US tour very soon. AM’s song “It’s Been So Long” (alternate version) is featured now on the Urban Outfitters Charity CD in all retail stores around the country which benefits 826 National, the nonprofit tutoring, writing, and publishing organization which helps kids to develop crucial writing skills.....
.. ..
What they are saying:....
“AM has an uncanny knack for crafting pop songs shaken and stirred with Philly R&B, Motown soul, ’60s rock and folk, and Brazilian rhythms that get in your head and swirl around for a spell.” - Creative Loafing....
.. ..
“AM’s band has a soulful synchronicity. Their music was, oh I know I shouldn’t say it but, groovy.” -Popwreckoning....
.. ..
“Super chill, nicely done folk-pop. Definitely listen to “It’s Been So Long,” which songs like a laid-back Peter Bjorn and John number. “Fortunate Family Tree” is also good and has more of a Belle & Sebastian vibe.”- WLUR 91.5....

ACCLAIMED INDIE ARTIST AM ANNOUNCES SIGNING,
NEW ALBUM "FUTURE SONS & DAUGHTERS",
L.A. SHOW, AND EAST COAST SUMMER TOUR

OFFICIAL WEBSITE: http://www.amsounds.com
MYSPACE PAGE: http://www.myspace.com/amsounds

Los Angeles, CA-based alt-rock artist AM is gearing up for the release of his highly anticipated new album "Future Sons & Daughters" available exclusively on iTunes on August 11th, 2009 through Filter US Recordings (Fontana/ Universal Distribution). AM will be previewing songs from his recently finished album “Future Sons & Daughters” on Saturday, July 25th with Filter presenting AM at the Hotel Café in Los Angeles, California at 10pm. The eleven songs that make up the new record were recorded in Los Angeles, and produced by Charles Newman (Magnetic Fields and Top 50 Albums of 2008 Rolling Stone). AM is touring the East Coast in August with The Rescues.

AM TOUR DATES:
7/25/09 – Filter Presents: Hotel Cafe - Los Angeles, CA
8/19/09 - Club Passim - Boston, MA
8/20/09 - World Cafe Live - Downstairs Philly, PA
8/21/09 - Canal Room - New York, NY

The Echo Park resident who goes by the moniker AM (also his initials), found inspiration for his new album in his own deep cut 1960s record collection of obscure Brazilian music and Italian soundtracks. Fusing simple, intelligent lyrics, undeniable pop sensibilities and sparse, psychedelic groove, “Future Sons & Daughters” (Filter US Recordings) combines the classic and the modern with an honesty only a dedicated music fan could produce.

Is this the new classic rock? If it ain't, then it oughtta be. The Tulsa-born and New Orleans-raised, artist brings a heady brew of twinkling Anglified folk-rock-pop, twanging Americana, caressing Philly soul and funky R&B whatchacallit -- and, best of all, joyously unheard points in-between. AM does all this with an acute, finessing ear for the ancient art of real, true songcraft. With, arguably, some of the best bridges and choruses in the bizness, drawing from the Beatles and Badfinger or Curtis Mayfield and Jorge Ben, AM demonstrates over and again the simple fact of songwriting life: that imagination and taste is what it's all about.

Support for AM’s music has come from tastemakers such as KCRW’s "Morning Becomes Eclectic" and WXPN in Philadelphia; iTunes named his debut album one of the “Best Albums of the Year", and LA Weekly named him “Best Singer Songwriter of The Year".

AM has been heard on NPR, the iTunes Indie Spotlight, and AM’s music has also been prominent on TV shows such as "Brother’s And Sisters", "Men In Trees", "Big Love", "Kyle XY", "Trust Me", and MTV's "The Hills". AM’s song “Mainstay” will be featured in Ashton Kutcher’s “Spread” in theatres August 14, 2009.

Tulsa born, New Orleans raised, and now a Los Angeles resident is known only as his moniker AM (also his initials). Fusing simple, intelligent lyrics, undeniable pop sensibilities and sparse, psychedelic groove “Future Sons & Daughters” combines the classic and the modern with an honesty only a dedicated music fan could produce.

With both percussion and drums playing off each other, angular electric guitar, musical bass and moody synths AM's sextet operates more like a mini chamber ensemble than a traditional rock band evoking the pop side of Serge Gainsbourg or a darker, less pretty Bird and the Bee. Lyrically "Future Son's and Daughters" delivers deceptively simple messages on a variety of moral questions, and ultimately wonders, "What have we left for the ones taking over"?

Support for AM’s music has come Triple A and college radio tastemakers such as KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic and Boston’s WERS. iTunes named his debut album in the “Best Albums of the Year’, and LA Weekly named him “Best Singer Songwriter of The Year’. AM Unveils New Music At Spaceland May 16, 2009
Full Band Show

Indie crooner and acclaimed songwriter AM is putting the finishing touches on his new album "Future Sons And Daughters" with producer Charles Newman (Magnetic Fields) and is previewing his new songs on Saturday, May 16th, 2009 at 8:30pm with his full band at Spaceland in Los Angeles, CA.

The Echo Park resident who goes by the moniker AM (also his initials), found inspiration for his new album in his own deep cut 1960's record collection of obscure Brazilian music and Italian soundtracks. Fusing simple, intelligent lyrics, undeniable pop sensibilities and sparse, psychedelic groove “Future Sons And Daughters” combines the classic and the modern with an honesty only a dedicated music fan could produce.

With both percussion and drums playing off each other, angular electric guitar, musical bass and moody synths AM's sextet operates more like a mini chamber ensemble than a traditional rock band evoking the pop side of Serge Gainsbourg or a darker, less pretty Bird and the Bee. Lyrically "Future Son's and Daughters" delivers deceptively simple messages on a variety of moral questions, and ultimately wonders "what have we left for the ones taking over"? "It's Been So Long", a haunting duet, pines on the dangers of resentment and the necessity of mercy while "Leavenworth", a Carol King meets the Beatles style ballad, examines the world of a marriage gone awry.  "Fortunate Family Tree" conjures up social commentary on the haves and have-nots in today's America and "Self-Preservation" critically examines history's pervasive "survival of the fittest" mentality.

Support for AM’s music has come from tastemakers such as KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic and WXPN in Philadelphia. iTunes named his debut album in the “Best Albums of the Year’, and LA Weekly named him “Best Singer Songwriter of The Year’.  AM has been heard on NPR, the iTunes Indie Spotlight and his music has also been prominent on TV shows such as Brother’s And Sisters, Men In Trees, Big Love, Kyle XY, Trust Me, and MTV's The Hills. AM’s song “Troubled Times” will be featured on ABC Family’s “Greek” on June 1 and “Mainstay” will be featured in Ashton Kutcher’s “Spread” in theatres August 14, 2009.

AM UNVEILS NEW SOUND
Indie crooner AM (www.amsounds.com) is putting the finishing touches on his new album (currently untitled) with producer Charles Newman (Magnetic Fields- one of Rolling Stones Top 50 albums of 2008). Conceived in Elliot Smith's previous dwelling (now Newman's place of residence) the New Orleans native further expands his ability to combine intelligent, yet un-alienating lyrics with sparse, psychedelic groove. From the sultry melodicism of Brazil's Jorge Ben to the moodiness of Ennio Morricone's more trippy soundtrack period, the new album fuses the classic with the modern with an honesty only a dedicated music fan could produce.

"Fortunate Family Tree" conjures up social commentary on the have's and have not's in today's America while "Leavenworth", a hauntingly sparse ballad, summons the Beatles or early Carol King against a 70's B-movie soundtrack. With both percussion and drums playing off each other, angular 60's electric guitar, musical bass and moody synths AM's sextet operates more like a mini chamber ensemble than a traditional rock band which evokes the pop side of Serge Gainsbourg or a darker and less pretty Bird and the Bee.
