Ok, I spent some time with Two Step (Kerry) last night and she gave me some of the Mulberry low down.

1st....THE CHOMP sounded great. Sun again!!! I heard the donations were just amazing. (right now I am shaking). All kinds off goodies and fun. The machine that is The Chompdown started early and fed about 150 or so.
These people came ffrom he area (of course the the waka family) and the returning from last year (ihope you made yourself known locals and on the ChompSpace you were very quite this year)

I do want to thank Melissa from thrid planet (for getting those upgraded tickets to Pauly) Flawless. Thanks again.

but it sounds like the Chomp was great.

2nd Dirtfoot. I have not really much info about the show other than the songs were slower. It was more of a cool set. There was also a sit in. Can anyone tell me more about that???? I know that ScottT taped it bright and early.
Here is the link to archive

Thanks ScottT once again for being so diligent to get the Chompdown Sets!!!

So what did of everyone think of Camp Chomp????

Good job to that camp.

On a personal note. I want to thank everyone that wished me well. 2008 has not been the best year for me...but I am working to make the last part good...and 2009 Chomps are already in the work....so you got me for a while longer...the good lord willing!! I was really bummed that I was not there to see so many of you. Conner, Brecken, Kristin, Kevin, and everyone who just came up to me last year and said "Thank you for doing this" and made it back this year. I wished I would have there. Things are medium to well. I am unemployeed right now...but leaving that job and the past three weeks have been very hard. I just want to thanks those that have helped me through this. I owe you more than just respect.
Ok, enough "on a personal note"

You all did a great thing at mulberry. You gave of self to become selfless. You became "LOVE"!!! You made something happen. and when it was done...you went on to feel good. We are Human and we all care...we just need to show that to each other more. You may have done the smallest role, but you did something for each other. And that has been lost at times.
We are bringing it back and it makes me happy to know that it can be done!!! We are a Happening!!!

Well, I just wanted to say that.

Please email me with your Chompdown Tales. I really would like to hear them.

Well gotta bounce,
rabbit

oh yea....tell me about the Hurricane Saturday Night

Ok, everyone. Everything is set. It has been months in the working but it is now moving into place.

And I feel comfortable about talking about all the details.

The organazier of the festival, Dewey, has allocated us a spot where we are going to do the chomp. He has a crew going out a day or two early to get it ready for us. I really have to say, working with him is a pleasure. He is more that accomadating, even when you don't even ask for something. So, as far as the festival goes, we are welcomed with open arms and they are preparing the way for us. Which is a very comforting feeling to know that we are not going to get interfered with.

Dewey, was at the WakaChomp and was just so impressed and so overjoyed to see people just doing something so basic, but creating an impact so massive. So good job again to everyone at Waka this year. (It was a highlight for most people waka (i know it was mine) and was what really was needed for all souls after the night before.
)

For this years, mulberry festival, as many of you knew. I purchased 5 upgraded sites to create Camp Chomp. It was a furious reaction to be in camp chomp....but the people that will be there are some fimilar faces and some new faces to our camp all together. Camp Chomp will be located by the shower houses....and I am sure you will be able to see it. And look for fun things to come from Camp Chomp after Friday Morning, as well.

Back to the Chomp. I have figured that we could try starting around 8am (it is breakfast). I know it is going to be a very slow start. So gathering at the location for the Chomp should start about 8am so we can be up and running in an hour.. Brian Martin (if you remember from last year that he opened the chompdown, well he is doing it again!!!) and will be starting at 9am. The thing with the location of the chompdown (which will be on the other side of the showerhouses....i am assuming down the road some) is that we are going to be able to go as long as we want. Which, I am not saying has to be anything like Waka....but my main goal is to get some good Dirtfoot time in there. With the new album, their set list has increased....and I look forward to varaitions in the set list. And seeing as many different songs as possible. It is an excitiing for those guys. This album looks to be a gem...and I just hope they have some teasers for us.
But I am not asking!!!!

So. 8 am set up. You can come by camp chomp if you need directions to the chomp. 9 am 1st act.....until...whenever...and then Dirtfoot until...whenever.
Don't you love the Freedom!!!!!

I know that we have a few cooks from camp chomp that will be working away. As well as I will be manning a stove. That's right. I am going to be making my mushroom swiss scrambled egg delight. I normally do an omlet...but i think that might be just a bit tough. So....DELIGHT, DELIGHT, DELIGHT. That means that you won't see me running around as much....and hopefully I am going to be able to stay behind the grill....and nothing too extreme will call my attention away.

But I Corree, you may be called into action again. (applause for her work at waka....take a bow, girl.
You slayed it!)

Of course everyone knows what to bring:

Eggs (last year we had so many left over...we ate eggs the rest of the fest)

Juice (sealed) - I can't stress this enough. If you are doing the intake of any food please make sure that Juices are sealed and that any packages are sealed. I know some people have kindess in their heart and want to donate....but they may not have had enough ice in their cooler to maintian they very delicate level something that has been open, must maintain. And its gross...as well as you never know.
So keep it sealed and keep it safe safe!!!!

Bacon - This has become a staple of the Chomp. The band is rep'd by a pig and there has always been this massive love for bacon...and it just makes the eggs taste better.

Butter - I use lots of butter when I cook. So bring a stick, or bring a box. It will get used or given away to someone that will.

Bread - Though toast has never made an apperance at the Chomp. I am still waiting for the ingenious Chomper to do it. Also, bread is good for people who need something to fill thier stomach for a day of drinking. It will help them absorb.

Fruit - This is a totally new item to put on the "BRING", list. But I have been seeing that we have some veggies out there and even though they might be all up and down on some Mush/Swiss/Delight there might be other foods they can't eat. Fruit is a great addition. Apples, Grapes, Peaches, Cherries, Plumbs, and anything else you can think of. Also, is a great way to replace the juice that flows out of us the night before...when the alcohol took it away

ETC - This has been every thing from Deep Fried Oreo's, to Bloody Mary's. So really, if you have a cool idea don't be afraid to bring it. Be creative.

WOW this is long!!!!

Ok, I would love to be able to get some signs going again. Corree (already calling you, my 2nd) you did those ones at waka...right? Still have those. Can you make a few more. As well as any member of Camp Chomp...if you want to make any type of sign...I am sure we will use it.

The sign should say "Chompdown This Way" or something to that effect...and an arrow. Though a sign that just said Chompdown This Way would be a great one to put up and have someone with a camera just snap away. LOL.

Well, that is about all that I can think of to start this post. I am axious to see you all again. It seems like forever and a war ago, that we gathered just to do something for others. Everyone that has helped at the chomp before and is excited about this chomp, you really make me smile. Your selflessness of actions are something that people forget about in this day. There is to many people out there that are in an "I, Me, Mine" mentality (awesome beatles song...listen to it) and we are doing something completely off that chart. Also we create an old school happening each time. Not as extreme in a spun out way happening of old. But the true meanin of a Happening. Ok, enough. So this thread is open.

Well Chompers it is time to begin.

The tickets are being purchased, the tents checked, the coolers are being aired out, and the lists are being made.  It's time to get in festival mode.  ..

Camp Chomp is full and if you did purchase an upgrade and would like to be apart of it...please let them know that you would like to camp with us...I have told them that anyone with an upgrade that wants to be close to Camp Chomp is welcome.  As soon as I have an idea where the upgrades are I will make sure that all that are in Camp Chomp are aware.  I am wanting to keep the quiter campers on one side and us crazies on the other side.  Camp Chomp is going to be an exciting way to make sure that we all get to spend the weekend together and those long late evening hours together.  Of course, everyone is welcome to come and chill in Camp Chomp....there will be plenty of extra camp chairs and lots of shade.

The Chompdown: Right now...there are a few things that I am working on with the organizers of Mulberry to see where we are actually going to have it....I have run the idea about it being in Camp Chomp....but am leaning back to the stage.

The Time: 8am.  I know this is very early, but if we are going are to attempt to do it in the same place as last year...we should begin gathering about this time.  This way we can be done about 10:30 and be cleaned up and gone by the time the Campground Stage begins running at 11:00am.   The other option of having it at Camp Chomp would make it much looser of an event...but space might become an issue there.

The Music: Brian Martin is planning on coming up with Dirtfoot....so, just as last year, we will have him grace us with some good ol morning music.  Dirtfoot, as always, is the main course of our musical meal.  Hopefully, Dirtfoot will take this time to try some new tunes on us as we Chomp...and give us all some goodies to take home with us.

The Poster: Due to other obligations, Miss Angela will not be able to do the poster (it seems she is moving around alot right now and is pretty busy.)  So Grady (who did the poster for Waka) will be doing the poster again for Mulberry.  We should be unveiling that next week.  This one should capture the spirit of Mulberry and excitment of the event.  It should also be a very good companion to the existing Mulberry poster.

Ok....so there it is....the beginning!!!

It is very important to me that you all know that we have a very open road of communication here.  You are what make this happen.  I just type these niffty little bulletins and ask for your support.  It is you that create what has been identified as a true "Happening".  We are making something special and creating a feeling inside.

Get ready....the ride is about to begin!!!

Peace and Kind Love

How do you win???

Over the next two weeks I will be accepting a poster submission (that will be printed) commeraterating the Bacon Cook-Off. Basically, you are free to be as creative as you want to be.

It just simply needs to state these few things

1.

Campground 1 Shelter House 3

3.
Before Noon on June 6th

4.
YOU CAN BE THE KING OF BACON

Please submit your entries to rabbitsounds@hotmail.com

as they should be sent in a file that can be easily transferable to poster.

If you have any questions...please drop me a line.

Have fun...and be creative.

How the winner will be picked is that the poster will be placed in a special photo album and the person with the most comments on their entry will be the winner.

It comes with heavy heart that i woefully announce the cancelation of Summer Camp's Chompdown. As many of you know I have been sick lately and just recently fell ill again. This has caused me to miss more days from work. This has put me in quite a situation for money. I know we should not be controled by the almighty green...but my landlord likes his, Kansas Power and Light likes theirs, the gas company likes theirs, and all these other things called bills.

Another thing that has worked very hard against me is the fact that I have yet to conatct anyone with any authority at SummerCamp. I have made many offers to feed their street team, and work with them, but still no contact. I do not feel comfotable doing what we would be do with out premission.

There has also been lots of issues in contact with Jah Roots. They are a very busy band, but I still have not been able to get a verbal or written confirmation from them. I am not sure what their needs would be or anything of that sort. It would have been great to have them play their uplifiting sounds while we chomped....maybe next year.

All in all, I was looking foward to meeting a new group of people to share this experience with all the northern folk, but I am not comfortable with the lack of communication that has been all around involved with trying to put this together. Also, I know for a fact that I would be in a much worse financial situation than I am right now.

I do apologize to everyone who was excited.

The Chompdown is an event where you need to have an active line of communication with the festival...I would hate for any of us to get in trouble for stepping on toes.

Once again I am very sorry.

Peace and Kind Love

It's getting closer...and as we get closer details are becoming available as to the where, when , and who.

The Where: SummerCamp in the campgrounds...probably the street team campground. More details on that very soon.

The When: 10am on Saturday morning.

The Who: Hungry SummerCampers.

All you need to do is this.

Bring:
1 dozen Eggs
1 gallon of juice
1 stick of butter
A sealed Package of Cheese
A loaf of Bread
and if you can keep it chilled until the Chompdown
BACON!!!

I have been trying to work with a few people on this...but now it is time to focus on this baby, myself, for the next week.

I am very excited to bring The CHompdown to Summercamp...and I am also very excited that Jah Roots will be playing a special acoustic set for us.

I am pretty sure this is going to be a more grassroots (no pun intended) CHompdown, I am trying to get some signs printed up (so if you can help out with that please contact me), so that people can find us.

Also, still looking for cooks (so if you can help out with that let me know)

Time is closing in on us...and the 1st festival Chompdown of the year will be here and gone before we all know it.

Thanks to everyone who has helped make the Chompdown!!!

Hey everyone...

Here comes another big Chompdown Push....this week....i would really like everyone (that would like to) to put the chomp in thier top friends and tell people to join the chompdown...

i am working on two festivals at once right now...so make sure that if you are going to summer camp or wakarusa that you tell your friends about the chompdown...about the need for help in all areas that are chomp involved....but most of all...let them know that they need to add the Chompdown as a friend on Myspace.

This is the main focus for next week...it is to get the word out.

Also: Don’t forget to get one of the very limited Chompdown/Dirtfoot shirts that are left...just hit me up and we can discuss what it will take to get one of these awesome shirts to you....gotta send a shout out to the T-Shirt guy for doing such a great job...

OK....let’s get out there and recruit!!!!

PS: check out the people showing some chomp love in the photo albums.  and if you have a picture of you showing any chomp love...send it my way...and i will put it in the photo album

The Poster Should Say:

SUMMERCHOMP

Featuring the ROASTING SOUNDS of
JAH ROOTS

Saturday. May 25th
10am

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Very simple....the design is whatever you want it to be...please make it so that it could fit on a 11" x 18" poster.  What becomes of the poster is those that have been at Chompdowns in the past....and work a good portion of the time helping in one way or another...get one.  It's a little momento.  I am anxious for the next poster.  So...if you have ideas...PLEASE let me know.
