Humeur actuelle :recovering
Hey there,

Here's a quick update...Dixie is still resting his foot and only drinking half as much bourbon as usual so that he is healed in time for Weedeater's hobbled yet glorious return to the live arena. Below are the tour dates; we'll have ticket links for you soon so keep checking back for updates. We will be playing new material from our upcoming release "Jason...The Dragon", to be recorded with Steve Albini at Electrical Audio in late April. Much thanks to master Steve for letting a bunch of crazy, dirty, toeless, gun-toting hillbillies back into his pristine studio so we can scuff-up the floor and bang a bunch of his pots & pans together so as to call it "music". That took some class (more than we have anyway) and in all seriousness we are truly appreciative for Steve and everyone else at EA being so cool about rescheduling this session. The support bands on this US tour are all incredible and include: Black Cobra, ASG, Black Tusk, The Gates of Slumber, US Christmas, and Struck by Lightning. During the Tone Deaf SXSW showcase in Austin, the mighty Rwake will also make a rare appearance joining the party for one absolutely insane night of music. We'll have more updates shortly on the summer tour / fests in Europe as well as the tentative release date for "Jason...", so you'll be hearing back from us soon enough. See you out there, don't step on Dixie's foot, and of course, thanks to all of you for your continued support!

Humeur actuelle :shot in the foot
Hi folks,

As most of you know, here in the Weedeater camp we pride ourselves on a long tradition of shooting our band in the proverbial foot right before we're supposed to do something important. Whether it's a big tour, a recording session, or whatever else we're supposed to do, invariably we will find some way to try and thwart our grandiose plans. Well, it's no different for this recording session, except that this time we really did shoot ourselves in the foot. In fact we regret to inform all of you that this weekend, Dixie Dave shot his big toe off whilst cleaning his favorite shotgun. Yup, that's right. When reached for comment, Mr. Collins gave a quote that speaks for itself..."It wasn't my intention to shoot off my big toe. This really fucking sucks and the pain is unbearable." Mr. Collin's doctors have advised that he is to be bedridden for the next few weeks during his recovery. This will obviously affect the recording session (and the few surrounding shows in Jan/Feb), which will now have to be postponed until after the March / April "nine-toe" tour. Said tour is still 100% on, however, so check back soon for updates on venues and exact dates. It looks like the support bands will be awesome and the band is really stoked to play this new material after touring for so many years on the same basic set. Yeah...we knew that too, sorry but we're about to make good on it. And of course after all, we gotta keep workin', like workin' men do. Shooting your big toe off isn't free, for fuck's sake! So to re-cap...Keko sacrificed his pinkie for Down/Melvins, Shep broke his hand for Today is the Day, and now Dixie has generously offered up his big toe for Steve Albini to nibble on. Unless overtly fond of Limburger cheese and rotten flesh, Master Steve is advised to decline.

Good day,

Weedeater

Hey yous,

Happy new year and all that shit! Weedeater's gonna go record with sensei Steve Albini again in Chicago this month and we're fucking elated. We're also going to play a few shows on the way there and back to showcase / road-test the new stuff. Come join us and hear some highly anticipated candidate songs for the next release, including "The Claw of the Sloth", and "The Darkening...ening...ening." OK we've said too much already, just be there goddammit. Oh yeah and for the Chicago and Newport shows we'll be supporting Nick Oliveri (QOTSA, Kyuss, Mondo G) and performing as Barstul, which is our stripped-down acoustic bass and banjo band. Here are the shows and few ticket links. See you there!

Weedeater's first album, "And Justice For Y'all", has finally been re-issued by Sleeping Village (with new art http://img265.imageshack.us/i/wecover.jpg/ ) and is now available through us directly ( contact andjusticeforweedeater@yahoo.com ), through Shirt Killer, or through Sleeping Village on myspace, and now through www.stonerrock.com as well...At least for now you have the choice of either getting a copy through one of the above methods or getting doggy-raped on ebay.

Hey all yous,

It took a couple weeks to recover but Weedeater actually made it back in one piece. 70 days is a long time to tour, and we didn't have one day off for the last 39 days of that. Plus Keko was playing with a severed tendon in his pinkie. He is a fucking madman. Despite those obstacles and many others that shouldn't be mentioned, we had an amazing time. Everyone in the Down and Melvins camps were great to us and it felt like we were leaving family at the last show together. Amazing musicians, amazing people, all of you, we THANK YOU for an outstanding tour!! That was some legendary shit for sure. We'd also like to thank all of the fine folks at the shows who supported us via merch, lodging, and through any other means necessary. You are all saints and we couldn't have made it without you, so again, THANKS for everything!! In other news, during January Weedeater will once again be entering Steve Albini's wonderland that is Electrical Audio Studios in Chicago IL. We'll probably do a few shows on the way out and back, so stay tuned for those when they confirm. In March we'll be doing another US headlining tour; we'll have dates and such soon. We'll also be coming over to Europe next summer and hopefully the new album, "Jason The Dragon", will be released by then, though we don't have a solid date for that yet. Lastly, we've just released the 1st ever Weedeater hood. It's simple, elegant, and it's got a fucking zipper. Check it out:

Until next time,

Due to y'all constantly asking us to do so, "Weedzombie", the current tour shirt design (and our myspace pic) by Godmachine, will now be available Oct 1st through Shirt Killer. This version will not have any dates on the back, unlike the limited edition tour shirt. If you want the shirt with dates, you gotta get that one at the shows, and they're almost sold-out so you best hurry. Alright then see you out there, only 9 more shows left until this crazy tour is over! It's been fucking nuts. We love you all.

We are now playing the Town Ballroom in Buffalo NY with The Melvins on Thursday Sept 17th. See you there.

Well, we're almost done with the first half of this thing. Tonight we play Salt Lake, tomorrow Denver, and after that we're gonna do some headlining shows in the south/southwest before we meet up with Down and The Melvins again in Atlanta. Thanks to all the fine folks in both Down and The Melvins camps for making us feel at home, and much thanks to all y'all who have come out to support us so far on this tour, it has been a great time! We also just added a new shirt online at Shirtkiller (also available for a limited time at these shows). You might recognize the caricature by Arik Roper, or you might not. Either way, it's cool as hell and a classic design of ours, so click on the Shirtkiller link beneath our tour dates and check it out. See you at the shows!

After having passport issues we were finally granted access into the fine country of Canada. Set times have changed and tonight we go on 1st, so even though the show is already sold out, you need to get there early if you want to catch us play. Thanks for the support, we love BC! And thanks to the dudes in Fargo and Bismarck that hooked us up with a few last minute shows, it allowed us to get here!

Humeur actuelle :  concentré
Hey you guys,

We'll be seeing you soon out there and we can't wait! It's been too damn long. We also have a ton of merch with us this time including 5 BRAND NEW shirt designs, one featuring the bad-ass profile artwork by God Machine (and his beard of doom) that so many of you have been talking about. We'll also have that design on a skateboard deck by Ritual, and it looks sick! Just remember to get there early so you can catch our set. Some nights we'll be 1st, some nights we'll be 2nd, so we will be on stage as early as 7pm in many cases. OK until then.

-Weedeater

p.s. for those of you who have been asking, the new album will be recorded this winter by Steve Albini and will be released on Southern Lord next spring.
