well, like the concept of the wes anderson interview we are still reaching for, this is the place to ask questions you'd like answered from Jason Schwartzman himself. Doesn't have to be Wes related. Enjoy & I'm hoping we can get this interview done sometime this month. Thank you much & let the questions begin!

So being as I know there's interest in many other great cities than Portland, this should be a place to maybe voice interest in participating (hopefully more for people willing to host / arrange) in a Anderson Filmfest for their fair city. Well, speak your minds & desires. I would love for people to make an event of this. This is our first chance to celebrate the birth of a Wes Anderson film as a community. Ready, set, PLAN!

THE DARJEELING LIMITED TRAILER

NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - Wes Anderson's comedy "The Darjeeling Limited" will kick off the 45th annual New York Film Festival on September 28.

"It represents a big step for Wes," said festival program director Richard Pena. "I hate to use the word 'matured,' but the humor and whimsy he uses is sharper, better focused and used more effectively."

Fox Searchlight will release the film in New York the day after its festival premiere.

Pena noted that the director has a long history with the fest, which premiered his 1998 breakthrough comedy "Rushmore."

"We're very proud we showed it at a moment it was almost ready to be shelved," he said. "With a little cajoling, the studio allowed us to screen it, and I'd like to think our showing it helped in getting it out there."

...it follows three brothers who trek through India to find an albino tiger that's actually their reincarnated father. And given that this is a picture from director Wes Anderson — whose last film, The Life Aquatic, followed a dude looking for the shark that ate his friend — that setup seems entirely possible. Or not. ''You can't trust what you read on the [gossip sites],'' Anderson says of Darjeeling, which he admits is ''more raw'' than his previous ventures. ''[They] take various elements from the movie and distort them. They're not searching for a tiger.'' Instead, the estranged trio (Jason Schwartzman, Adrien Brody, and Owen Wilson) take a train through the subcontinent because ''one of them organized this spiritual journey for them to bond'' after the death of their dad. Says Anderson: ''But it really just turns into a bender.''

Excert from INDEX MAGAZINE's 2002 interview with Mark Mothersbaugh
interviewed by Andy Spade

MARK: Whenever I work with Wes Anderson I end up writing enough music for two or three movies, so I always have lots left over.

ANDY: You've scored all three of his films. How do you two work together?

MARK: Wes is the most hands-on of all the directors I've met, across every area of his films. He sat in the studio with me while I scored The Royal Tenenbaums, and when he wasn't with me, he was designing the poster for the movie. He and his brother did the drawings for the set decoration for the film. He's pretty meticulous.

ANDY: The music in his films is always an integral part of his vision. I'm thinking of Creation in Rushmore or Elliott Smith in The Royal Tenenbaums.

MARK: A lot of it has to do with the fact that he is his own man, and has control over his movies. Wes takes his projects to the studio, as opposed to a lot of directors who are hired by the studios and can never separate themselves from the bean counters who usually end up having a tremendous impact on the movie that you see in theaters.

ANDY: Do you start writing the music early on in the process?

MARK: When I came on board Wes's first movie, Bottle Rocket, everything had already been finished except for the score. For Rushmore, I sent Wes musical sketches as soon as he sent me a script. I sent him music for Tenenbaums based on discussions we'd had about French Impressionist music, which he was listening to during the shooting and editing.

ANDY: Are you working on his next film?

MARK: Wes just told me some of his ideas and asked me to do some musical sketches. I was starting to work on it and I said, "Can you send me a script?" He said, "I'd love to as soon as I get something written." He's now pretty close to having a draft done, but we've already been exchanging music and musical ideas. We're talking about going to Europe for this one, so I might set up shop over there for a while.

ANDY: It sounds like the music is important to him from the beginning.

MARK: Wes is very interested in the music-making process. Some people say they are, and then they really aren't. They've just directed this movie and they're like, "Oh my god, I want to think about something else, here's a directive, I'm leaving."

hollywoodreporter.com reports that "Fox joins Anderson on 'Darjeeling'

By Nicole Sperling and Borys Kit

Fox Searchlight is getting into the Wes Anderson business. The Fox specialty division will be the home of the writer-director's latest project, "The Darjeeling Limited," which will star Anderson vets Owen Wilson, Jason Schwartzman and Adrien Brody. Principal photography is set to begin at year's end in India.

The three will play brothers on a spiritual journey through India after the death of their father.
"Darjeeling" is based on a screenplay from Anderson, Schwartzman and Roman Coppola. Anderson and Coppola will serve as producers on the film.

Searchlight specializes in offbeat, quirky fare, which happens to be Anderson's trademark. Anderson's previous films, "Rushmore," "The Royal Tenenbaums" and "The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou," were all made for Touchstone Pictures under the guidance of Nina Jacobson, former president of the Walt Disney Motion Picture Group.

Scott Rudin is producing through his Scott Rudin Prods. shingle in addition to Lydia Pilcher and her Cine Mosaic label. Pilcher recently partnered with Searchlight on Mira Nair's "The Namesake," also an India-based production based on the novel by Jhumpa Lahiri.

Wilson has appeared in all of Anderson's films, going back to his debut, "Bottle Rocket." He also co-wrote "Rocket," "Rushmore" and "Tenenbaums."

Schwartzman starred in "Rushmore." He will next be seen in Sofia Coppola's "Marie Antoinette."

Brody, the newcomer to the Anderson fold, will next be seen in "Hollywoodland."

Anderson, Schwartzman and Wilson are repped by UTA and attorney Bob Wallerstein. Brody is repped by CAA."

kamlabhatt.wordpress.com says "The first inkling about this film came during a CNN  interview with Owen Wilson on July 17, 2006, where he mentioned:

But I am going to do a movie with my friend Wes [Anderson] in India, and thats not going to be a buddy comedy movie. [I play] one of three brothers, and they go on this journey in India. I havent really spoken to Wes yet in regards to what I can really talk about."

about.com claims that "Anderson, Roman Coppola, Scott Rudin and Lydia Pilcher are producing the film. Anderson, Coppola and Schwartzman wrote the script."

Who knows at this point on solidity, but the fact that Owen himself made speak of it says that its more than just wishful thinking. Will keep you all posted, as should you I. Thanks...
